When a Skype call that was only meant to last 5 minutes turns into 2 hours because friendship is beautiful like that and when someone knows you, they know that "just 5 minutes" at 4.00AM means "I need to talk for 2 hours."
I love that.

Iâd try to explain that itâs not really negativity or sadness anymore, itâs more just this detached, meaningless fog where you canât feel anything about anything â even the things you love, even fun things â and youâre horribly bored and lonely.

Sometimes I think the worst thing I've ever put myself through is being in a long distance relationship (and that's counting having to be awake when a chest tube was inserted between two of my ribs.)
There's just a certain pain that goes along with being in a relationship that doesn't feel tangible that just rips you apart. Night time is the worst for me; there's a genuine heartache attached to having to say "good night" over text and not being able to whisper it, to feel the comfort those words elicit in another person.Â
I only talk to her for 15 minutes every single day when we Skype in her morning and I try to go to sleep immediately after so her voice is the last I hear and pretend she's next to me.
I try really hard not to judge people for their actions and try even harder when their situations or choices are not ones I have been faced with or had to make. I would hope most people felt this way, but I can see that's not the case...
...and I'm only thinking about this because of all the PLL commentary since Tuesday re: Ezra being a pedophile. Like...IÂ get it and I understand where that comes from. But, again, unless you've been in an Ezria situation I can't stand to read the commentary that's been popping up!! It is not as black and white as everyone makes it out to be.Â
I cannot believe I'm taking PLL commentary on Tumblr this seriously, BECAUSE IT.IS.A.TELEVISION.SHOW but I literally cannot handle it.
Give it to the universe, and it will give back.
New life motto.Â
Reblogging because this motto is still applicable. Especially now. Especially now, it has to be.
I constantly reblog this post. This is my third time. It is still every bit relevant and I (apparently) still haven't learned to just let things be and become as they will.
Happy Birthday!
I've never felt so loved in my life. Thank you to everyone that was apart of this SECRET PROJECT, and special, special thanks to my love for making this. Happy 22 to me <3
WHEN IS SEASON 2 COMING. WHEN.
A museum is an institution dedicated to creating connections ⌠a meeting point between two arrows of time, the past and the future, and two arrows of complexity, greater and lesser, that originate at the point we call us, and now. In other words, museums are the fourth dimension.
Joe Hanson offers a beautiful definition of what a museum is. Pair with Stephen Jay Gould, the greatest science writer of all time, on why the sparking of connections is the key to creativity.
Meanwhile, to the brilliant Neil deGrasse Tyson, a museum is a soundbite:
A soundbite is useful because it triggers interest in someone, who then goes and puts in the effort to learn more. Â And thatâs all a museum can really be.

how do you feel about queer-identified people who only have heterosexual relationships?
i mean there are important things like internalized homophobia and passing privilege and all kinds of fun stuff that make this a really fucking complicated subject and something that we canât just sum up in a neat little answer
the one thing i can say is that i do sometimes feel uncomfortable with people like this if they donât check their privilege re: passing as heterosexual, specifically cis heterosexual*.  i have known people like that andâŚit usually makes me pretty uncomfortable being around them. i know that person is inherently not going to understand struggles i go through and shit i have to deal with, and that makes me not want to open up or talk about certain things, which is also just me having massive trust issues and needing to know that spaces are 1000000% safe and 10000000% places where i will be 10000000% understood. i need really specific circumstances to be trusting and open. i am much less likely to be open about shit that i deal with as a visibly queer person who is never ever going to pass as a cis hetero person, not on my own and not in the relationships i have, with someone who has not that experience. because of who iâm attracted to, my relationships are always going to be visibly queer, there are spaces i will never be comfortable or safe in for that reason. and seeing someone talk a lot about how queer they are but knowing theyâve never experienced specific types of oppression and seem pretty unwilling to check that privilege or acknowledge the differences between themselves and other members of the community isâŚwell, itâs hard. so, my final thoughts on all this are that i think itâs complicated but if youâre passing as cis heterosexual while identifying as queer, please just remember to be respectful of experiences you havenât hadâŚ
âŚjust like iâll never understand what it means to be invisible to the queer community. i would never assume to know what it means to be invisible to your community or have the validity of your identity questioned based on your partner history. i would never enter a safe space designated for people who have had those experiences.  i have the privilege of always being recognizably a part of my own community, and (almost) always finding a safe space there if i need it. if youâre not recognizably queer (or present in a way that is âacceptableâ to the bullshit queer heirarchy) then youâre not going to have that experience. and thatâs a privilege i absolutely positively have. i have the privilege of having never had a partner who was cis male and thus being considered a âgold starâ which is some sort of fucked up trophy in the queer community. i have a lot of privileges within my own community that people who have a different partner history than me donât have, even if we share the same identity.
i have no idea why you guys ask me these questions because i am not The Queer Authority. no one is The Queer Authority! we are all our own authorities, woo!
bottom line: intersectionality! yeah!
*Â (note: if you are trans* and pass as heterosexual with your partner, i am definitely not referring to you in the âcheck your privilegeâ thing. if youâre being read as heterosexual, thatâs definitely an erasure of your identity and an act of misgendering and that is not a privilege and you do not need to check any privilege and people who say otherwise are fucking assholes they are 100% ASSHOLES)
