Great Sunday magazine! With Bill âThunderâ Allen, the eccentric and idiosyncratic drummer who owns a 172 piece drum set that he keeps in a storage locker that doubles as his band room. We disassembled the whole set to transport it to the legendary Paradox nightclub in Baltimore, which we rented for the shoot. I ran a crew of 14 people to get the cover and opening shots. Bill was nervous as we moved his babies and eager to play once it was set up. Five lights, including one on a boom so high we had to remove the disco ball, is what we needed to get the job done. Thank goodness for catering and a cooler of Gatorade on this 12 hour shoot!

I had a great time photographing alumni from the historic Storer College in Harperâs Ferry in W. Virginia. Storer was started shortly after the Civil War to educate former slaves and was one of the first HBCUâs. Storer College closed in 1955, but former students like William Vollin and Ramona Gross still hold it close to their hearts.
