For Harry:

Never checked up on him at the Dursleys'. Or wrote.

Had zero intention of ever telling Harry he was his parents' friend during POA and only did it when forced. Also only taught him the Patronus when forced.

Had zero intention of ever informing Dumbles about Sirius being an Animagus, because fuck the safety of his best friend's kid, amirite?

Never wrote to Harry in GOF when he was in a deadly tournament and Remus could have offered some advice. By contrast, Sirius literally lived on rats just to be near and help Harry.

Never checked in on Harry after OOTP and defended Snape to him in HBP even though Snape got Sirius killed.

Threw Harry into a wall in DH. Also yelled at him for not killing someone????

For Sirius:

Abandoned him in prison and thought he was capable of betraying James in the first place even though James was LITERALLY Sirius's soulmate.

Told him to sit down and shut up in OOTP because god forbid Sirius defend himself against Molly.

Literally had a place that Sirius could stay at ("lie low at Lupin's") but Sirius was forced to be on the run after POA instead???

Defended Sirius's killer (Snape).

Went and knocked up his dead boyfriend's cousin as soon as Sirius was dead and out of the way.

There's really not much in the text in the way of affection between the two of them tbh. We get one hug in the Shack and then. Nothing. Remus abandons Sirius immediately after POA, Sirius calls him "Lupin" canonically, and then Sirius dies and Remus is singing Snape's praises in the next book. 😂

Miss Imp, would you happen to have fic recs for Sirius raising Harry fics, without Remus somehow shoehorned in as the all knowing, responsible parent?!

The man virtually flees from Harry at the end of Harry’s third year and couldn’t even be bothered to send a single letter to Harry during his fourth year. I don’t think even if Sirius had been freed at the end of PoA, Remus was rushing in to take parental responsibility.

Haha, I mean, he definitely wouldn't have been! (Ignore every Wolfstar-raising-Harry fic I've ever written, those all involve a Remus who is eager to step into Harry's life, which is not canon Remus.) He even ran away from his own flesh-and-blood child. So no, if Sirius had gotten custody of Harry after POA and also tried to mend things with Remus, Remus would either A) have stepped up right quick because the alternative would have meant losing his man, or B) run away.

Anyway, I'm bad at putting together fic rec lists, but you should check out @greyeyedmonster-18 @femme--de--lettres @zazima and @padfootastic. They all write Sirius-raising-Harry fics where Harry comes first no matter what.

It's also been a while since I've read it, but the fandom classic A Life More Ordinary might have some of what you're looking for? Sirius raises Harry on his own first before mending things with Remus, and I definitely remember a scene where Remus tries to discipline Harry without consulting Sirius first and there's a fallout from that.

before the door of hell lamps burned might also be a good one to check out. Remus is like. off in a tent somewhere in Mongolia and the whole fic is just Sirius raising Harry post-POA.

I’ve always seen Sirius and Harry (platonic or romantic), but i’ve never really seen anything about Remus and Harry, have you? what do you think about it (about Remus and Harry)?

Hmm, doesn’t really do it for me. Remus and Harry could work, I guess, but Harry really never gets that close to him in the books. Harry always refers to him as Lupin—which is contrasted by Harry, within an hour of finding out Sirius is innocent, switching from referring to him as “Black” to “Sirius.” I don’t really see a spark between Harry and Remus, platonic or not.

“Er…what?”

“Or Italy? Or Greece?” Sirius was looking at him expectantly. 

“I think…they sound nice?” Harry said. 

“India’s an option, too, though that journey takes five different Portkeys,” Sirius mused. 

It dawned on Harry then that Sirius was trying to select a place for a holiday. “Um…Hermione’s parents took her to Japan last summer. She really liked it.”

“Oh, I like the sound of that,” Sirius said. “That’s a longer journey than India, so I think we’d take a Muggle aeroplane instead of trying to travel by magic. Moony! What do you think of Japan?”

“I think that sounds lovely,” Remus called back.

“Japan it is,” Sirius said, scribbling some notes on his parchment. “How does three weeks sound?”

“Brilliant,” Harry said, even though his heart sank. He was glad Sirius and Remus were taking a holiday--they deserved it, after all--but he didn’t like the thought of being left behind for three weeks. He told himself firmly to stop being a baby about it. They had done more than enough for him already. He could survive without them. “Um…would I be staying with someone, then? Or I could write to Ron, see if the Weasleys would be okay with me staying with them?”

“What?” Sirius blinked up at him. “You…don’t want to come?”

“I--” Harry hesitated. “I didn’t think I was invited?”

“Of course you’re invited! Why would we go on holiday without you?”

“Just…the Dursleys always did.” Harry shrugged. “I’ve never been anywhere.”
