Forty years of legend. Happy Zelda 40th Anniversary!!

What I learned from the Zelda games I've played:

Link defeats the final boss with courage. I defeat it with panic, button mashing, and emotional damage.

Link doesn’t cry in the game. But after that (every) final boss? I did.

Link earned the Triforce. I earned trauma.

Random thought on the update (other than the First freak out because?????) about Rulies tunic.

I'm pretty sure this is the same one he's still wearing.

You can tell it's way too big for him here. There's a tear at the front that later becomes the slit.

He extended the front lacing to accommodate his growing body, reshaped the neck and armholes, and added bands around the armhole that look suspiciously like Legends over tunic (I see you Hyrule).

Jokes aside. His world is recovering from Poverty so it would make sense to give a kid a shirt you could keep fixing and repairing as he grows.

It was a warm night, sometime in between eras. The Chain had come across a nice bar in a large town, and after traveling for so long, a break was long overdue. Twilight was the leading force, easily rallying Warriors and Legend to join him. Time and Four agreed as well, after a little persuasion.

"C'mon! We all need'a break, don't ya think?" the rancher pressed, an easy grin on his face. "It's good to relax ev'ry once in a while, y'know."

Time sighed. "I… suppose it would be beneficial to have a night off."

Four nodded, shrugging. "I could have a drink or two," he agreed.

"Then I'll stay here with Wind and Hyrule," Sky offered. The two youngest heroes turned to him with wide eyes. They weren't allowed to go? "I'm tired, anyway."

"Aw, man, seriously?" Wind whined, slumping his shoulders dramatically. "You guys never let me do anything! I've been drinking since I was a kid!"

Warriors chuckled, ruffling Wind's hair. The sailor growled and batted at his hand. "And you're still a kid, so you won't be coming to the bar."

Hyrule raised a hand shyly. "Um, I'm sixteen."

Twilight and Warriors exchanged looks. "Yes?" Warriors replied.

"So… why can't I go to the bar?"

It was Twilight's turn to ruffle Hyrule's hair. The traveler stared up at him with big, confused eyes, still awaiting an answer. "You're too young, buddy."

Legend sighed loudly. "Can we go? I'm really looking forward to a good drink." He tapped his foot, already standing by the door out of the inn.

"Just a minute, Vet." Warriors looked between Wind and Hyrule, expression stern. "Both of you are staying here tonight. Am I clear?"

Hyrule nodded. Wind rolled his eyes.

"Sailor. Am I clear?"

Wind groaned, crossing his arms. "Fine."

"Good." Warriors nodded once, turning toward the door. "Everyone ready to go, then? Let's head out."

What a milestone—40 years of adventuring.

This special is from a scene much further in the LU comic. It felt like a fitting way to reflect on the journey that started it all. What an impression it left, as we still feel that sense of adventure all these years later.
