Hey Get Stretchies!! Try this hamstring and IT band stretch tonight! Use a strap if you cannot naturally grab your foot with your hand. Try to keep both hip bones down on the floor and gently let the leg you're stretching slowly cross over your belly button - but not too far! Be gentle on your body. β¨ Start by holding for 30 seconds, 3x, or if you're advanced then you can hold the stretch as long as you desire (I like holding stretches for at least 2 minutes). You must get out of your own way to go beyond your limits. You have infinite energy, waiting to be manifested and expressed through your movements. Use the breath to help decrease your minds chatter. Inhale from the base of the ribs, expanding like a 3-dimensional object to the front, sides, and upwards through the sternum. Then exhale from the base of the stomach, underneath your belly button, rooting the energy in the pelvic floor, and rising up towards the sternum. Let the breath guide you from pose to pose. Inhales are a passive recoiling of the lungs and diaphragm. We make space in our bodies by exhaling, and the atmosphere wants to fills. Not the opposite. Let the atmosphere in and allow its natural forces fill you up.

Counting down the days for endless sun, golden skin, salty hair, and days where time doesn't exist. My obsession with the beach runs so deep it's indescribable. Everything about it inspires me. The perfect contrasting palettes of warm against cool, the sun so warm on your skin it feels like you're wrapped in a blanket that's just been taken from the dryer still warm with heat, the anticipation of what majestic shapes and brilliance the sunset might bring, the way I earthen my feet into the wet sand as the wave rescinds back to where it came from, and the nostalgic feeling I get that tells me everything is going to be ok. I feel uneasy when I travel to cities full of concrete, without salt-water just around the corner. I thought it was a phase that would pass, but the obsession remains. I can't shake it off. I've given in. And that leaves me with one conclusion... I must be a mermaid.π¬ #memoiresofamermaid #summer2016
