Holy shit y'all. I'm currently having an absolutely insane development in my actual life, and I need to talk about it somewhere. I figured here is the best place.
So, beginning of the school year I'm sending my daughter off to kindergarten. This is my first time sending a kid through school, I'm recently a single parent. I met this chick, badass, old school emo punk kinda vibe, a mom, at the school. Her son is in the same class as my daughter. We start hanging out. She starts giving us rides to school, and then me a ride home. She starts giving us rides home from school.
Then she starts hanging out at my place for a while after giving us a ride home. Then she starts staying for dinner. Then she starts staying after dinner. I think she's a single mom, and I've hit it off with another single parent at the school.
Turns out, no. She's married. She has stayed the night at my place a few times by the time I figured that out. I meet her husband. He's a chill dude. I have no idea how he ended up with a woman like her.
I cut things off with her because I found out she's married and her husband is pretty chill. She gets pissed at me, starts refusing to help me out picking up my daughter from school and shit. So I made all new arrangements for getting my daughter home from school. Then I started a new job. Pretty much the same shift as my last one so I don't have to change anything about babysitting or pickups from school.
I've been at this job for 3 months, then who did they hire? Her husband. He lives not 5 minutes from me. Up until he started working, I got a ride home from the manager. Now every day after work I have to ride home with the dude who's wife I was fucking earlier this year, and I have nothing to talk to him about. So yeah, that's just like my daily life now.
I adore this
I like your funny words magic man
Haven't been on in a while, but I popped in because I had to report that I overheard my best friend's roommate, who was a steadfast Trump supporter, mutter to himself while scrolling through his phone "wish I hadn't voted for him."

Hello. My ex mil just called me to tell me happy Father's Day, then wouldn't let me talk to my kids. I could hear them yelling "Papa! PAPA!" In the background, But the trivial nonsense she has going on during her daily life is absolutely so much more important.
Me saying "hi babygirl, hey buddy! How have you been enjoying summer break?" Is definitely 100% the most I'll get to say to my kids for at least a month
Holy shit. I got my kids back in my custody permanently. That same mil asked me if she could have the kids for Christmas this year. Babe, what? This is literally the first year since they were taken from me because YOUR CHILD DECIDED DRUGS WERE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THEM that I get to finally actually celebrate Christmas with them, and you want me to forfeit that to you? And you're gonna act like I'm being selfish because I, as the parent of these children, want to celebrate Christmas with these children?
Fuck. I haven't logged in since before October. Dammit. Why did I have to make that post? I literally forgot what I logged in to say.
My kids are constantly bringing me pretty rocks that they found and wanna keep, so I got a mason jar to keep their pretty rocks in. Every time I get home from the playground my pockets are full of rocks. We sometimes go through their pretty rocks jar. My daughter likes to put them in order from smoothest to roughest and my son likes to put them in order from darkest to lightest. I often have to remind them that in the end, it doesn't matter what order we sort them because they're all still pretty rocks, and they'll all still go back in the pretty rock jar. I love being able to make my most pressing issue that day be about which order we should sort the pretty rocks.
Oh to be a toddler and fall asleep at a weird angle in the car seat and wake up with no back or neck pain. Give me that. I need that.
AIN'T NO DAMN WAY THIS STUPID LITTLE MOBILE GAME IS MAKING THIS REFERENCE RIGHT NOW
I love that the pandemic actually definitively proved a lot of those "hard" questions for us. Masking up reduced cases of the flu to almost nonexistent numbers and we had zero flu deaths for a time. The welfare and social service and unemployment programs helped keep people living paycheck to paycheck out of poverty, and those stimulus checks some folks keep complaining about actually massively benefitted the common man and the economy. Individual personal travel was so extremely restricted on a global scale that we basically have concrete proof that individual restraint in terms of driving cars or travelling means absolutely nothing by comparison because the mass pollution is coming from the fisheries and the corporations with private jets and container ships. Working from home actually has massive benefits for a company like productivity boosts and better mental health of employees while also saving gas
and we're just. Willingly going back to how everything was before. We were shown how to do things better and the people in charge said "that's nice but we just want to get everything 'back to normal' :)"
we’re not willingly going back to how everything was before. we are being forced back into it by members of the ruling class who found out that making things better for almost everyone else made them feel bad.
Let's not forget about any of these things. Let's reblog and schedule this post to pop in in the future to remind us of what we may have forgotten a little.
Do not forget.
"these researchers published a paper on something that literally any of us could have told you 🙄" ok well my supervisors wont let me write something in my thesis unless I can back it up with a citation so maybe it's a good thing that they're amplifying your voice to the scientific community in a way that prevents people from writing off your experiences as annecdotal evidence

Man, can you imagine if high functioning autism was discovered by Hitler himself and we referred to high functioning autism as "Hitlerism" the same way we refer to it as Asperger's?
Drowning and dehydrating are both bad. Having too much of something is just as bad as having not enough of it.
My dog's really a study in Buddhism. He can see my muffin wrapper and he's miserable. Crying. He needs to eat my muffin wrapper so bad.
I get up and throw it away. He forgets about it immediately and happily goes to sleep.
You are not sad because you do not have a muffin wrapper, my beautiful boy, you are sad because you want the muffin wrapper.
I always refer to one of my cats as my Lacanian kitty. She will meow incredibly insistently for something, and once it is given to her, she will look at it briefly, decide she dgaf, and continue to demand something. Nothing existing could ever satisfy her desire because it is a metonymic manifestation of a lack that is inherent to the structure of her being, she is not asking for my sandwich, she is asking for something else via sandwich, and once proven that the sandwich isn't that something else she will desire another thing in the same vain hope.
