Welcome to Audio Drama Reviews
What is Audio Drama Reviews?
Audio Drama Reviews is a searchable side blog intended to help audio drama listeners find new audio dramas.
What audio drama get reviewed?
Audio dramas that I've either listened to enough to provide an assessment for or those that I bounced off of. For those that are on going or where I'm still getting caught up, I may update the review later if my opinion changes. For those that I bounced off of, I'm open to someone doing a guest review. For audio dramas that I've listened to but don't feel I can give a fair assessment of, I still plan to catalogue them so that prospective fans can become aware of their existence.
I have an audio drama. Will you review it?
I'm pretty full up on audio dramas at the moment. I also want to avoid listening to audio dramas just to review them, since I want to listen with a fan's ear, not a critic's ear. Everything I've listened to has been something I at least thought I would like. If I listen to something just to review it, I'm more likely to check something that I end up disliking mostly because of the nature of the story rather than the execution.
BUT I do understand how important word of mouth is, so feel free to self-promote in the Fiction Horror Podcasts community (which I mod), the Speculative Fiction Podcasts community (which I also mod), or The Audio Zone community (which I don't).
Gasp! You said something critical about an audio drama I like!
Yeah, that's going to happen. You don't have to agree with me. It's okay if you like something I didn't. Really. And some things that were deal-killers for me are going to be no biggie for you.
(And honestly, even some of the audio drams I'm critical about are still audio dramas that I love. I don't expect art to be perfect, and just because something has a couple of weaknesses doesn't mean it's not overall very enjoyable. Plus, everything reviewed here was made by real live human being, which is laudable in and of itself these days.)
Why aren't any of the posts rebloggable?
Because FAR too many people mistake critical analysis for condemnation, and the reblog architecture of tumblr facilities that. The point of this blog is to give prospective listeners a fair assessment of audio dramas so that they can find ones they like, not to kick up a firestorm.
Where can I find tags for Representation?
