Some pictures connected to special memories of our inter-cultural, inter-religious activities and meetings... Live can be so much richer, when we give to each other and learn from what each one has to contribute!
Activities in our spirit!
Why God created us different...
From the Holy Qur’an:
(5:48) Then We revealed the Book to you (O Muhammad!) with Truth, confirming whatever of the Book was revealed before, and protecting and guarding over it. Judge, then, in the affairs of men in accordance with the Law that Allah has revealed, and do not follow their desires in disregard of the Truth which has come to you. For each of you We have appointed a Law and a way of life. And had Allah so willed, He would surely have made you one single community; instead, (He gave each of you a Law and a way of life) in order to test you by what He gave you. Vie, then, one with another in good works. Unto Allah is the return of all of you; and He will then make you understand the truth concerning the matters on which you disagreed.
(Rudolf Steiner)
שער לאדם Sha'ar la'Adam – Bab lil'Insan باب للانسان
The name of our center in Galilee is very dear to us - and it can hardly be translated from Arabic and Hebrew to other languages. That is why we try to use it in the original languages. It roughly means - the gate to becoming a human being. Are we not human beings? Yes and no… Yes, we should show each other respect as humans - we all are created in the image of God. But are we like God? Is the simple dove like the Holy Spirit - in which image the bird is often seen? No, we are on the way, we are under construction… Who is constructing? The higher reality that created Life as such and human life in particular. But since we are supposed to strive for becoming like our goal - it is a challenge.
So today the main cultural divide is not between East and West, different traditional religions and ethnics. The division ist between people who know they are on the way, who recognize individual development and responsibility. And those who would rather be guided by others, look for safe forms and judgment about who is good and bad. The individual way can be so challenging, that one can understand the urge to go backwards. But humanity will not solve a single problem through fundamentalism of any kind. It is a narrow path, a lonely one. But we can learn from each other and show each other love and respect on the way!
In Galiläa, Nordisrael.
In Galilee, the North of Israel. An Islamic Kadi, a Jewish Rabbi and a Priest of the Christian Community. Plus about one hundred people gathering for a meeting about the contribution of religions to peace - or war. Sitting around a fire at our meeting place in the forest. Darkness around us. Young people from Kibbutz Harduf and other Jewich places, the Bedouine villages and Palestinians from the town Shfa’amr, nuns from Nazareth, artists, soldiers, students, children… In the end someone confront the experts with the question: And now that you have been so nicely agreeing about all the general stuff, I would like to know how you explain the fact that there are different religions. One of of them needs to be the right one? The Muslim, whose answer most of us will know - Sura 5, if God had wanted people to be the same, He would have created them accordingly, He wanted us to learn from each other…, asks me to answer. So I describe the moment: The way we are alls sitting around the fire, lying, standing, each one of us seeing the fire from a different direction. How the coffee cups are in the foreground for some of us, the tea-pot not visible for others as the stone wall around the fire is in between. How the fire looks lively from one side, from the other side it can be seen as almost burned down. How it looks different according to my standing, sitting or lying down peacefully - not seeing it but trusting in its warmth. I would have to get up to get a glimpse of it. How someone might even be sitting with his back to the fire, looking into the forest, saying: Fire? What fire? OI do not see any fire, refusing to turn around to have a look. Not noticing that the fire is also warming him and that he can only see the trees, because the fire is lighting up the forest. It is like that with our view of the Divine Worlds… The question is not - how can I describe the fire from my point of view. The question is: How can we all together care for the fire. For without the human being it would slowly burn down. The world needs light and warmth…

We are hoping to translate many of our posts into many languages soon, so we can foster our aim of inter-cultural and inter-religious spiritual life.
