A recent graduate of Rutgers University School of Law in Camden, New Jersey, and a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Adam Rosengard has worked at several organizations, such as the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, where he tried retail theft, narcotics, and stolen property cases and also litigated pretrial and posttrial motions. Adam Rosengard handled portions of more than 400 cases, including municipal non-jury trials and felony hearings. He also participated in jury selection and interviews of witnesses and defendants. In addition, Rosengard spent several months as an intern at the Philadelphia City Solicitor’s Office, where he generated medical summaries and transfer memos, handled responses to complaints, and supported arbitration hearings and depositions. As a law student, Rosengard participated in the Children’s Justice Clinic, where he represented juveniles in delinquency cases, which involved handling hearings as well as sentencing and post-disposition reviews. He also conducted interviews and discovery and drafted related motions. In his spare time, Rosengard enjoys sports; he plays in a men’s ice hockey league and follows Philadelphia’s professional teams: the Flyers, the 76ers, the Eagles, and the Phillies.

ABA Hosts National Summit on Collateral Consequences

As the cofounder of a general law practice in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Adam Rosengard handles a wide variety of cases involving bankruptcy, family law, personal injury, and criminal defense. Adam Rosengard also stays abreast of developments in his field as a member of the American Bar Association (ABA). In a recent press release, the ABA announced that its Criminal Justice Section hosted a meeting of national leaders in criminal law who discussed how legal consequences extend outside of courtroom sentences for people convicted of crimes. The National Summit on Collateral Consequences featured a number of prominent speakers, including former deputy U.S. Attorney General James Cole and DC Superior Court Judge Michael L. Rankin. During one session of the meeting, a panel of criminal law and law enforcement stakeholders discussed who is best suited to determine the extent of collateral consequences and explored strategies for balancing re-entry and public safety issues. Another panel of criminal justice experts also fostered dialogue on real-world examples of collateral consequences, while a panel of judges reviewed sentencing considerations in a later session.

Philadelphia Eagles Aid and Inspire Community Youth

Cofounder and partner of Philadelphia-based law firm Rosengard & Moles, LLP, Adam Rosengard practices general law, including criminal defense and bankruptcy. After graduating from the Rutgers School of Law–Camden, he went on to serve as an intern and assistant attorney. In his spare time, Adam Rosengard roots for Philadelphia’s professional sports teams, including the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles contribute significantly to community organizations through its Eagles Youth Partnership (EYP), which began operations in 1995. EYP serves 50,000 children throughout Philadelphia by offering several initiatives that encourage healthy attitudes toward learning and fitness. One such program, the Eagles Book Mobile, promotes literacy. Each summer and fall, the book mobile travels to libraries, schools, and shelters, where the Eagles Storybook Man reads aloud and hands out new books to the children in attendance. Since 2000, more than half a million books have been distributed. Another program, the Eagles Eye Mobile, provides complete vision care to children from under- or uninsured families. The program includes an eye examination, glasses, and a follow-up with an ophthalmologist at no cost. Playground Build works toward improving Philadelphia's neighborhoods and schools. Studies have shown that high-quality playgrounds reduce classroom violence, increase school attendance, and involve families more actively in the community. Each new recreational area built on behalf of the Eagles features gardens, colorful murals, and child-safe structures.

Championship History of the Philadelphia 76ers

With a juris doctor from Rutgers School of Law, Adam Rosengard began his legal career in Trenton, New Jersey, in 2013. When he is not performing his professional duties in the field of law, Adam Rosengard enjoys following Philadelphia sports teams, including the city's basketball team, the 76ers. The 2014-2015 season marks the 66th in the history of the Philadelphia 76ers, a team that began as the Syracuse Nationals in 1949. While recent seasons have seen the team in a rebuilding mode, the 76ers have a long post-season history in the National Basketball Association (NBA). For 22 seasons as both the Nationals and the 76ers, the team made consecutive playoff appearances. This stretch included a trip to the finals in their maiden season as well as championship victories in 1955 and 1967. The 76ers won a third NBA title at the conclusion of the 1982 season. Although the team has failed to reach the playoffs in 14 of the 31 seasons since the 1982 win, Allen Iverson led the team to a finals appearance in 2001. In total the Philadelphia 76ers have reached the NBA’s ultimate stage on nine occasions, winning three times.

Family Law – An Evolving Field

Adam Rosengard is an attorney at Rosengard and Moles and a member of the American, Philadelphia, and Pennsylvania bar associations. Located in Center City Philadelphia, Adam Rosengard and his firm offer services in areas that include criminal defense, bankruptcy, and family law. Family law addresses obligations in family relationships, rights, and finances. It encompasses cases that deal with subjects such as divorce, separation agreements, child support and custody, and domestic violence complaints. Some states and cities will separate subjects by court division; for instance, Philadelphia courts subcategorize family law into juvenile and domestic relations branches. Legislators and judges have made significant changes to family law policies and standards since the 1970s as a result of shifting views on legal rights that concern divorce, child custody, and same-sex marriage. Late-20th-century modifications to family law involve marriage definitions and polices that deal with the ability of women to own and transfer property. Previous legal definitions of marriage transferred personal property from wife to husband upon marriage. Over the years, family law has expanded outside the boundaries of legal issues dealing with marriage and separation. In the late 1970s, courts saw the introduction of laws regarding surrogate motherhood, artificial conception, and “palimony” agreements for non-marital unions. The 1990s saw further legal alterations, as states began debating same-sex marriage rights. Currently, more than 30 states recognize marriage between same-sex spouses. Court procedures for family law generally produce a winner and a loser, resulting in high emotions and increased tension among all parties involved. Due to evidence that these feelings often do not fade after court process completion, many states have begun seeking non-adversarial alternatives. These include mediation and experimentation with more informal procedures.
