Day After Day [Daniel & Colin]
Between seeing Francesca and arriving at the hospital, Daniel had stopped only once: at the last minute he'd had an idea and rushed off to the store, purchasing a notebook of medium size that seemed sturdy enough. Hopefully the concept simmering in the back of his mind would turn out to be more brilliant than bullshit, but only time would tell.
Colin was, predictably, right where Daniel left him (in more ways than one). He saw the look of surprise spreading over his best friend's face and knew he had to act quickly or they'd have to go through the same reunion they'd had twice already.
"Look, I know th-this is sudden," he said breathlessly, rushing to Colin's bedside, "but--some stuff has happened. Basically you got hurt and you can't r-remember new stuff and we've kind of already had th-this conversation before and I'm fine so don't worry about me, and I know it seems like you just got shot yesterday, but you didn't."
He paused, catching his breath, and realized that he had gotten a little flushed with the force of his combined anticipation and apprehension. He wasn't very pleased with that, but he forced himself to ignore it in favor of the next part of his announcement:
"But it's okay, because I had an idea." He presented the notebook to Colin, holding it out for him to take a look at it. "So you can write everything down. W-We'll write a reminder for you to read it in th-the morning or something. So you can get a recap of what happened each day."
He studied Colin's face worriedly, willing him to accept what he'd been told. He suspected that it wasn't going to be as easy as he'd tried to make it sound.
