The finally part of my shoot with @youngthegiant. I thought all week what kind of imagery I wanted to make with the limited time I had with the guys so I ended up going with simple and classic with the color treatments that I’ve been loving to do lately. The second project this month in print with @sfmagazine is of Editor in chief and New York Times best selling author Gary Kamiya. Alexis in the Afternoon

I had a bit of downtime after weeks of shooting so when my favorite stylist Annie Palmiotto asked to set up a test I jumped on working together. We wanted something that was relaxed and gave the story of a fashionable woman’s late afternoon wandering after her house taking in the sun, drinking wine, and enjoying a slow evening. We decided to work with model Alexis Hutt, who I shot for Harper’s Bazaar TR last year HERE, and met her at a small home in Santa Cruz for the shoot. I decided to shoot this story all film to put me in a relaxed and more meditative state and I’m very excited about the results from our evening shoot together.

Adrian Grenier & Bob Weir for Lonely Whale

Something that I've been wanting to do for a while now is approach a nonprofit to offer up my service as a photographer as a donation to the fund. I came into contact with the amazing team at Lonely Whale to talk about what we could do together for a creative project. We came up with the idea of a Vanity Fair style portrait booth during an event that they had in San Francisco in collaboration with Ocean Elders and the wonderful people that came through the booth were of the highest regards. Here are a few on the portraits that happened throughout the evening.

Tokyo Wallflower

I had the opportunity to spend two weeks traveling around Japan with my best buddy Lucas and it was a place that I had no experience with before. The only way I can sum up Tokyo is by this little writing I did while there.

"Packed into a city like matches in a box. The salary man heading home after a long days work mixed by yakitori and sake. Chefs preparing the days catch for the wandering people just outside the door. Motorists whizzing by the crosswalk to make their deliveries. What I expected of Japan was not what I found. The city full of 39 million people made a beautiful stage for the solidarity of the people I witnessed in their own bubble. Alone in their day to wander free in their minds. I wondered what story they were playing out. By themselves they were my Tokyo wallflowers."
