So I had this random idea of canon!Lin somehow getting thrown into an AU where she married Tenzin and had a family. While her alternate self gets forced into the canon universe, and everyone gotta figure out how to get back home.

Knew I had to write this out or else I'd die regretting it lol

I've been thinking about Linzin's kids and wanting to write some cute moments between all of them 🥺🥺 just happy, wholesome family moments bc that's a life they deserved

I think there are layers to this.

I'll start with Tenzin first. Being the son of an incredible healer and brother to Kya, I think he's learned a decent amount of tips and tricks for the cold/flu. On top of that, he's often taking care of Lin because she's worried about everyone and everything else.

When the kids say they're not feeling good, he listens and moves accordingly. Sometimes theyre trying to trick him to get out of something (like cleaning the stables, courtyard, or doing garden work), but Tenzin can generally tell when they're serious about it.

Lin will probably scold them first when she hears they're sick lol

"See what happens when you hang out with your friend who was coughing for a month? You're ridiculous, Areum. I told you not to go to her house."

"Meilin, a sore throat will not kill you. Help Dad with the garden. The fresh air should help clear it out. You're always staying indoors and breathing dusty air at the studios. No wonder your throat is like that."

She asks how their symptoms are so she and Tenzin can pick up more medicine.

Lin never complains about taking care of the kids when they're sick, even if she does scold them for whatever silly reason they caught it.

In the end, I think the kids go to both Lin and Tenzin 🥰 Lin's strength is nurturing their physical health, while Tenzin handles their emotional wellbeing

I really like this idea! I can see them both being single when they first start filming together, and the chemistry is off the charts. There are rumors on set that they're secretly dating.

Cast notices it.

Public notices it and loves them together.

Lin and Tenzin never confirm anything, and the studio uses them to keep people watching the show.

It's not until the show is done that they finally confirm their relationship.

They show up to a different premiere as each other's dates and kiss.

I love Areum so much! Can you share some more moments of her with Lin or Tenzin (or both)?

OUR SWEEET BABY GIRL?!?! OF COURSE YOU CAN 💗💗🥰🥰 Here are some moments and maybe headcanons of Areum with her parents

Whenever her parents have a bad day, tiny Areum would leave doodles for them to look at. Usually hearts, flowers, stars, Oogi, their family, or some animals. And she always wrote a little message to cheer them up too

Lin giving Areum one of her dresses when she was younger. It's for an event that the whole family is attending, and Areum told Lin that she would like to wear something that reflects her EK heritage instead. Lin finds an emerald green dress that fits Areum well, except needs to be tailored a bit to better fit her frame. Areum feels like a real Beifong when she wears her mother's dress and sees herself in green. Lin is not done yet, and allows Areum to wear her jewelry--jade, gold, and pearls. Lin watching Areum feeling confident and so beautiful in her clothes makes her heart swell up, knowing that she's been feeling insecure about herself.

Areum does this for both parents. When Tenzin was injured aftering fighting the Red Lotus the first time, he had to rest a lot in bed and stay home. Areum carried all of her toys and plushies and surrounded Tenzin with all of them so that he wouldn't feel lonely, esp since no one could sleep beside him. He woke up one time to her toys and asked her quietly to slip in bed so he could secretly cuddle her.

In Lin's case, she sometimes got injured badly enough that she would have to stay home to recover. She also receives a bed full of plushies, some of them are laid on top of her belly and underneath her arms so she can hug them while sleeping. Sometimes Areum would entertain her mom by reading stories or playing Doctor.

since childhood, Areum has brought home many different animals. Lin will never forget the time she was cooking dinner and Areum patted her leg. "Look at my new friend, Mommy." She looks and what the hell does she see?! A fucking snake! Lin yelped, instinctively yanked Areum from the snake and jumped on the counter. Areum claims that it was not venomous or dangerous bc she read it in her book. Other times, Areum brings home a dove, cats, puppies, or meadow voles. She is not allowed to keep them as pets, but Lin and Tenzin allows her to bring them home if they are injured and nurse them to better health before she can release them back into the wild

Areum learned to ride a bike with Mommy. She fell many times and often got scraped knees, but hugs and a treat from Lin made it a little better.

Areum learned to swim with Daddy. She would jump from the rocks and land straight into Tenzin's arms. He would pull her gently through the water and help her kick before slowly releasing her. Other times, he would let her ride on his back and pull Areum as she giggled and steered by tugging on his ears.

Areum and Tenzin almost blew up the kitchen trying to make fruit pies. Don't ask how it happened. They followed the recipe book. Now they are not allowed to bake/cook at the same time.

After the second intense battle with the Red Lotus, Lin and Tenzin were both injured and staying together. Areum also got hurt (broken arm). She would check on them often. Every day, she would pick flowers and rest them beside her parents' bedside so that they had something pretty to look at, instead of each other's injuries or their own.

Tenzin always seems to have a tense face at any guy who talks to Areum when they're at an event. She can feel his staring and will blow some air his way to get him to stop. Esp when she liked the guy.

Lin and Tenzin will never forget how she began walking when they were both teaching her. She started by standing with Tenzin's help as she took wobbly and slow steps towards Lin.

While getting her tattoos, Areum couldn't decide who she wanted to be with her. So Lin and her siblings were there, in different shifts to entertain Areum and keep her spirits high through the pain. At her airbending master ceremony, she can clearly hear the emotions in her father's voice as he speaks to the world. Once the hood comes off, she hears the clapping. But when she looks to the side, she sees both of her parents crying and smiling at her proudly. The sight of them crying makes her want to cry too. There's a photo of her later with Lin and Tenzin standing behind her, and behind them is a statue of Grandpa Aang.

Hi hi! Idk if you’ve already answered this before, but what does AU linzin kids think about having a new baby sibling?

hello! I kinda answered that in a previous ask last year here.

Generally, they were side eyeing their parents and wondering if Linzin would rely on them to help raise new baby sib. I don't feel like they hate Xue, just wondering what this change means to their family.

They ask Linzin what their next move is, and Linzin suggests both of them taking a break from work to focus on Xue.

That creates some tension and the kids have different reactions to this.

The twins can't imagine them as being stay at home parents (mostly) because Linzin has always been 50/50 on work/family, while Mei and Jin helped bridge any gaps.

They're not sure what to make of that. Because they are happy to become older siblings, but also upset at losing the title and status as the "babies" of the family.

Jin's suppressed emotions about his childhood and wanting to have Linzin as "regular" parents comes out. He wanted to be like other kids where they go home from school and at least one of his parents is home a lot of the time. He knows that his parents are important and they're super busy. But maybe, just maybe, if they were home more often, then perhaps they would understand him more.

Maybe his Dad would just accept that he wants to bring new changes to the Air Nation, and not everything needs to remain traditional in a changing world.

Maybe his Mom would understand better why he's frustrated with being an airbender. Of course, he's accepted and happy to be part of the Air Nation. It's his culture and he takes pride in it. But not if it's attached to a certain model or stereotype.

Xue being the one to make Linzin decide that they will stay at home more to be with his sibling?

That hurts for Jin.

Mei, on the other hand, does not want her parents home all the time. She finds their constant presence to be more suffocating than endearing. It represents less freedom and more control.

Even though she and her siblings are older, her parents still exercise control over them in different ways. So she seeks any opportunities for her to have some distance from them in an effort to keep some family peace.

Does tenzin get jealous everytime lin mentions one of her past partners after they’ve gotten back together? Would he compare himself with them during sex and force her to admit he’s better than any of them?

Yes he does. Tenzin knows he shouldn't be jealous because he's the one who broke things off with Lin in the past, but he can't help it. He gets moody and broods for the rest of the day.

Lin doesn't bring them up unless it requires some context. Tenzin assumes it's one person, but Lin corrects him and says that was boyfriend #4 or something. Just knowing that multiple men have been with Lin has him short circuiting. Lin points out that he was married in a long-term relationship himself, even if it was only one person.

Hearing that Lin has had other partners makes Tenzin nervous when they fuck if he's even the best Lin's had.

I don't think he forces Lin to say that he's the best, but he strives for it.

He remembers that Lin would dig her nails deep into him when he would do a good job. Her nails haven't dug into him like in the past, so he uses that as his guide to be the best.

Lin asks him about it because she can tell that he's not entirely present and that there's something on his mind.

She tells him he is the best she's been with because of the emotional connection and intimacy they've shared across their entire lives. Her other partners may have had some great techniques (she teaches Tenzin a few of them), but it lacked that connection.

Now Tenzin's ego is huge again and he's ready for another round to really give it to Lin lol

Hiiiiii!!!!!! Just read the latest chapter of moon phases and I fall more and more in love w it with every word! Their talk near the end of the chapter had me contemplating. While I know tenzin reassured her, I imagine lin's feelings of jealousy/ inadequacy aren't so easily solved. It makes me wonder if once Xue is born, she subconsciously feels paranoid that she's not living up to tenzin's "ideal" version of what mothering/parenting is. Like is she worried he's comparing her to pema when she can't get the baby to stop crying, for example? Sorry for the long ask but im just so obsessed w how this story is going.

The plan is to have the story end at 8 chapters, and I already knew the ending from the time I had the idea.

For your question, I won't really be exploring that in the fic so I'll answer here 💗 I agree that Lin's internal feelings of inadequancy as a mother don't easily dwindle now that she and Tenzin are on better terms and she's communicated some of her insecurities to him. This is her first time being a mom and based on her own upbringing, she does not want to replicate Toph's parenting at all. Katara is a great role model for Lin, but she probably feels that she'll never be able to come close to her.

She knows that she raised some decent adults in another world, but they weren't babies or children. The only other person Lin can think of who's consistently dealt with children is Tenzin's ex-wife.

So Lin compares herself to Pema.

iirc I think Lin stepped away from RCPD. Her career has been her entire world. Based on LOK, Pema's entire world is her family and raising kids. So Lin feels completely out of her element and she's stepped away from an identity she's held for so long, and choosing to become a mother feels as if she has to give up that part of herself. Where Pema could fully devote herself in the role as a mother, Lin is grappling with does she want to hold multiple identities?

She could return to police work, but this doesn't necessarily mean police chief. If she does, would she be repeating the patterns Toph and even Aang had when she was a child--which is less time with their family.

But choosing to only focus on motherhood...that's not entirely enticing either. I feel like after Xue's born, Lin considers this more seriously.

When Xue is crying and Lin can't comfort her, somehow Tenzin holding Xue magically gets the baby quiet. She was doing the same swaying as him, so what's she doing wrong?! Lin was already having a hard time with her milk supply, too. Tenzin being better at this and thinking how Pema had that natural maternal energy so effortlessly only makes Lin feel like she's terrible at being a mom.

Lin and Tenzin would talk about this at some point, and Tenzin is surprised that Lin would compare herself to Pema.

Because Tenzin has not been comparing Lin to Pema. He's been observing Lin vs AU Lin

He got the chance to spend a lot of time with AU Lin, who's been both a mother and career woman. Granted, AU Lin had half of her life to learn how to balance the two, but she showed Tenzin that it's possible.

I actually think Tenzin has a more positive perception about Lin's parenting abilities because he's seen what she's capable of.

I just re-read fbwr for the nth time and there was one thing I'm absolutely curious about. The setting of fbwr was kdrama-like soooo... if you're casting real life kdrama ver of fbwr, who would play Lin, Tenzin, their friend group, toph, su and katara? ik you posted the inspo pic for iroh's muscles but... I'm curious about who you're seeing as his face card too.

I would prefer an Inuit woman but I could not find a woman who fit what I envisioned for Katara on Google. So her K-drama casting would be none other than, The Nation's Mother, Kim Hae Sook (김해숙)

Toph

I had a hard time finding the right fit for Toph. So I think I will go with Rinko Kikuchi. She's only 45, so she's not in her 50s/60s.

But look at her in Pacific Rim. Does this not give off future Chief of Police???

Iroh

This one will be ironic, considering Iroh had some reservations about mixed people. I have chosen Korean-American actor Daniel Henney to play him. Just imagine him waaaaay more buff lol
