Their name was Nex Benedict.

They were 16 years old and deserved to live for many more years.

I can’t stop thinking about them and how every adult in that school and state failed them.

How the hateful rhetoric and dog whistle bathroom bills pushed by far right religious extremists led to this tragedy.

3 older teen girls beat them so badly they died from their injuries. Nex was murdered by hate.

We have been warning that the legal targeting of the trans community recently was going to lead to tragedy like this. We have been screaming from the rooftops that the right wing isn’t protecting anyone. And here we are.

I will continue to do what I can in the off line space to make the world safer for my community.

But I will also not forget Nex Benedict. Say their name. Remember who they were and who they never got the chance to become.

Hey I’m not sure if this is still even relevant to you, but I’ve seen some of your posts saying bvt.prince is a fashion/makeup inspiration to you and I just want to make you aware that I’ve heard some really rough stuff about him. You might not want to support him. If you look up his name there’s a pretty damning story from his ex I guess, but I know it’s not just her he’s fucked over.. Anyways, people looking up to an abuser makes me feel gross so I wanted to let you know because you probably had no idea.

I totally understand the miscommunication about my stance with BVT.Prince. And we have made bitter history with each-other too through a poorly placed joke. I probably just forgot to delete my references to the account he has as my inspo. and will get to deleting those soon. Sorry about the misunderstanding of my kinship with him. why on earth do we live in a society where bosses essentially have the right to give employees the death sentence. like thats not what getting fired should mean, but in an economic climate where its incredibly difficult to find a job, much less one that pays well enough to cover all living expenses... and in particular im talking as a disabled person who would most likely not be able to survive unhoused, or without my medications. my life should not be in the hands of someone who can fire me on a whim. all of us, disabled or not, deserve to live in a world where our needs are accounted for and we can rely on having stable housing and free healthcare no matter how profitable we are for the people at the top. can we please overthrow this fucking plutocracy already
