“you think THIS IS FUN?” she questioned, moving inhumanly quiet, only her voice letting her presence be known. “imagine being stuck here years upon years, and the only people to kill are the poor unfortunate souls stuck here as well, really; you came at a great time, all these new faces; so many to kill.”
“you seem TOO OLD to be one of the students unless they y’know got old. —– could be possible I guess.” a shrug of her shoulders and a smirk pulling her lips. “welcome to the club anyway; it’s hell for a couple years, then you get used to it.”
The voice startled him; a rare occurrence. But he kept his composure. So this girl had been stuck here for years? Well that was a twist he hadn’t been expecting. At the mention of killing he smirked. “A woman after my own heart...vampire?”
He widened his eyes, shaking his head and looking around him jokingly. “Am I wearing my ‘I’m actually in my 50s’ T-Shirt today - why does everyone keep calling me old?” He chuckled, tilting his head with interest at the blonde. There was something off about her...she had the same disconnected look in her eyes as he did. His grin grew, “How long have you had it turned off for?”
luke was having a bad day as it was, being transported to the prison world wasn’t exactly on his bucket list. When luke was approached by the stranger he was automatically defensive – he wasn’t a massive fan of company, especially when he didn’t know who, or what, the other was.
although the man was complimentary, and not to mention attractive, luke wasn’t really in the mood to flirt. “boring isn’t the word I would use – how did you come through to the prison world?” luke questioned, his fingers tingling; his magic ready to flatten this bastard if he tried anything.
luke rolled his eyes “I’m assuming your a vampire seeing as that line could’ve only worked about 300 years ago.” – he knew he was a vampire as he drew closer, he was a witch – he could sense things like this.
“Prison world?” He arched an eyebrow, putting a great emphasis on the second word. That explained a lot. He’d known it was a prison for this Kai man everyone seemed so terrified of, but he didn’t realise it was entire world.
Adam continued to stalk forward, intrigue pulling him closer. “Now that’s just offensive. I’m not that old.” He let out a laugh. The laugh of a vampire who had turned off their humanity was one of the most horrifying things, empty and cold. It wasn’t genuine, it was just some strange responsive echo of whatever human was left inside.
“And judging by how confident you are, I’m gonna take a guess and say you’re...” He fake thinking for a moment, even bringing his hand up to his chin before dramatically pointing at Luke as if he’d just had some great revelation. “A witch.” The word left his lips like a weapon, something to be used. He’d closed in a lot now, though still was far enough away that he wouldn’t be able to touch the other if he reached out.
Landon knew he was going to regret coming out in the open but if this guy was feeling lost he couldn’t just let him call down the killer lurking in this prison world, “Um please don’t kill me? But we have to be quiet.” Landon looks around, “I don’t think we should be out in the open…unless.” It just dawned on Landon that he had no idea what this Kai guy looked like. “This is…your prison. Kai?”
Oh this would be fun. Whoever Kai was, Adam was glad the guy in front of him had given him the bait. “Indeed,” he spoke calmly, voice controlled. “And just who are you? And what do you think you’re doing in my prison?” He’d switched to a phoney american accent, holding back laughter as he listened for the boy’s heart, a little smirk playing on the corners of his mouth. “Do you know the things I’ve done to be locked away in here? You’re very brave.” This was a good way of finding out the threats that existed in this strange prison which he now knew wasn’t for him. But that begged the question, what the hell was he doing here?
“Hey, looks like it’s not all boring here.” Adam smirked as he approached the other, his thirst was getting the best of him...but a perk of not feeling anything meant he didn’t care if he was starving. He’d just have to feed as soon as possible...like right now.
He didn’t care he was trapped in some weird time-travel spell, he was convinced some witch was playing a trick on him - he’d certainly pissed off more than a few powerful ones in the decades he’d lived without his humanity.
“Okay! Fun’s over now!” He yelled up at the sky, sounding more British than ever in his anger, “Let me out of here before I start finding and killing people.” There was no way in hell he was the only person here...right?
There was a tiny little seed of doubt planted deep inside, a tiny little...niggle. As quick as it came, he shut it down. No way in hell was he about to turn it back on and let everything awful come flooding back...especially not while trapped in some witch’s idea of a punishment.
One thing Adam had figured out pretty quickly since arriving in Mystic Falls was that it wasn’t the most exciting place outside of all its supernatural drama. It took him a long time to find one bar where there was a sort of party going on. Hopefully nobody would notice a few people going missing from the crowds as he sauntered through, tracking a target.
After a couple of hours of drinking and compelling, he decided the most interesting person in the bar was the bartender. It helped he was attractive too. Not that Adam cared about anything.
As he led the confused cute bartender out the back, he felt the blood rush into the veins under his eyes, pushing him up against the wall. Just as he lashed out with his fangs, he was pulled away in a white light and...then he was alone on the rooftop above where he’d been about to feed not moments before.
“So, these are the best burgers in town?” Sitting outside the Mystic Grill like normal was strange for the brit, he never cared much blending in with humans - well, he never cared much for anything - but something about the town almost made him want to pretend. Decades of humanity-less vampirism was boring without a little fun every now and then.
Stefan was having a difficult time adjusting. The short amount of time since he’d woken up had been spent trying to come to terms with everything, the main thing being that he was back at all. There was a school in his house and years had passed since Katherine had tried to unleash hellfire on the whole town, yet it felt like only minutes for him. He was wondering where Caroline was and if she was okay, and frustrated that he didn’t know the answer to either question immediately. With the chaos of trying figure out what happened and what was going on, he’d been understandably distracted, so he didn’t completely process what the person that was in front of him had said. “Sorry,” he shook his head, still distracted, “what was that?”
@mysticstarters
Adam scoffed and rolled his eyes, “I said can you hand me a napkin.” Downing another shot quickly before pointing across the guy to the stack on the bar next to him. “Mate, either you’re way too wasted for this time of day or you’ve got some serious mind-fog going on up there.” His finger came to twirl one of his dark curls on the side of his head, a small smirk playing on his lips. “So which is it to be?”
luke stood in the clearing in the forest, he walked with vigour as he was headed out of the forest where the trees were becoming thinner. he had his signature smirk on his face – at this point he was just happy to be alive. he had made it back to mystic falls, virginia. “well, i’m not entirely happy to be back, but it sure beats being dead.”
“You were dead?” A dark eyebrow arched, interest piquing. “So what, now you’re a vampire?” Wandering the woods wasn’t his normal habit -- he wasn’t living in a questionable vampire romance novel -- but after hearing the stories of the infamous Mystic Falls, where else would he go for some entertainment.
Born in 1976, Adam Penworth lived a pretty ordinary life in England. Growing up through the late 80s and early 90s wasn’t too awful. It wasn’t until he was 16 in school that he realised he was different to the other boys in class. He found himself having crushes on his closest friends, one in particular. His name was David. The two became the best of friends, having a lot in common and it wasn’t long until David figured out that Adam thought of him as more than just a friend.
He promised he’d keep Adam’s secret on one condition - that he’d kiss him. Of course he wasn’t going to say no, he’d had a crush on him for two years at that point and so the pair kissed. From then onward they became a secret couple, sneaking around at school, kissing in the toilets between lessons and hiding behind the bike shed after school.
When they left school, they decided to move to London together - because the city was much easier to be free in than their small southern town. When they arrived, they lived openly as a couple, and they were happy. Blissful years passed, and on New Years Day 1997 they were walking back to their apartment from a party when they were attacked. One of the guys pushed Adam to the ground, and David his back to defend his boyfriend. Two of them held Adam down and made him watch while the other three beat David until he was seemingly unconscious. After a few minutes, they realised they’d beaten him to death. They left after that, running away and leaving Adam sobbing over the bloody body.
His screams for help were heard by nobody for hours. And as the sky turned from pitch black to early morning violet, a woman appeared, eyes dark and veins. Adam was terrified, but he refused to leave David’s side. She claimed she could help him, that she would be able to take away his pain. He begged that she bring David back, but it couldn’t be done - he was already long gone. Instead she fed Adam her blood, snapping his neck moments later.
He woke in transition, and she quickly fed him blood and taught him the ropes of being a vampire. But it was too much for him to handle. The grief and trauma from watching David’s death was too much for him, especially amplified by vampirism. She told him about the humanity switch - and without hesitation he flipped it, escaping the pain into a numbing haze.
That has how he has lived for the past few decades, travelling the world and feeding when hungry, doing what he wants, taking what he wants. Some call him a lost soul, but being a lost wandering soul far outweighs the alternative.
He’s found himself in Mystic Falls, intrigued by the supernatural rumours of more than werewolves, witches and vampires roaming the woods.
