So, MGS Delta happened and, although I find it hard to forgive the old Konami for its shitty behaviour towards Kojima, I have to admit that Delta was made with love and respect. Sure, it's just an adaptation, the gameplay and even the animations are basically (sometimes literally) the same from the original PS2 Snake Eater, and yeah it kind of is a money grab, but I appreciate the way the project was handled and now my love for this entire saga is rekindled.
To me it's kind of a memory lane walk, with the brain and the lived experienced of a grown ass adult now. And I'm honestly curious to see if I can draw more or less meaning from this story now, or love the characters the same way I used to, and see if the messages of the MGS saga as a whole still resonate with me. Because, as fun as the games are to play, what made me fall in love with this saga most of all was the way certain characters were written, how they interacted with one another, the way their personal relationships evolved and of course the anti-war and anti-nuclear message that, I'm sure, will sound even more relevant and poignant due to the current political climate of the whole world. Not to mention all the discourse around AI, censorship, information control... Oh, I'm so ready for this new journey as an adult in the MGS world.
I think I'll mostly reblog my favourite art pieces on this blog, but if I have the time I'll also share some of my thoughts and analysis, as I go. I so miss all the free time I used to have 🥲
