“If you THROW me in that pool against my will, I will bite you,” Addaya said simply, looking over at the next person who seemed to be approaching her.
forrestxdweller :
“Where?” His eyes frantically searched her features. “Where are you hurt? How bad is it?” A wound that he couldn’t, at present, see, seemed much scarier than one he could. Forrest didn’t in any way hate what Addaya was —- what he hated was what being a werewolf did to her, how horribly it affected her. That every full moon it broke her, and would do so for the rest of her life. He hated that there was nothing he could do to fix it for her, to alleviate the pain or take away the fear.
At her request, Forrest pulled her closer. His heart ached, hard. Please don’t leave me alone again. “Never,” he whispered, out of breath for still having not caught it. “I’ll never leave you alone, Addaya. I’ll always be with you, I swear by it.” He hugged her to his chest close as two people possibly could be, eyes fluttering shut when her lips brushed his skin. It sent shockwaves dancing from his head to his toes, a comforting warmth blossoming in his stomach.
“I’ll learn how to brew wolfsbane myself. You’ll have your own mind from now on. I’m not going to let you go through this anymore.” Forrest ran his thumb over her cheek tenderly, collecting a tear that had rolled onto her face. God, it hurt to see her like this. “You’d do the same for me, Addaya. We both know shouldn’t isn’t a possibility that’s apart of us anymore. It never was. Not since I met you.”
Forrest leaned slightly and collected the back of Addaya’s knees with his arm, the other serving as support for her back when he lifted her from the ground. He held her to him, pressed his forehead against hers. “I love you, little wolf.” It was the easiest and truest thing he’d ever said. “I’m in love with you,” he breathed quietly, their lips so close they almost touched. “I’ll marry you some day, if you’d have me.” Forrest’s mouth met Addaya’s in a gentle, small kiss. He barely pulled away when he spoke next. “But, for now, would you allow a soft old Irish sod like me the honour of being your boyfriend?”
A cough was let out, before she let herself rest against him, “I’m okay now Forrest, really, like I said, I’m with you. We’ll get to it when we get inside. I won’t die.” Not physically, of course, and even despite his reassurances -- how long could she survive this? All she needed to do was focus on him, his voice, his presence, he was there, that had to be enough, it had to be enough because if it wasn’t she’d surely find herself rotting into the Earth, cold and alone after a transition like this, c r a w l i n g out of the woods.
Even with the promises of Wolfsbane, of him making it for her, her mind wasn’t quelled. This burden shouldn’t have been for him to carry, even if he chose it. Listen to his words, Addaya looked up as he spoke, meeting his eyes as he continued. The promises soothed her -- he knew he wanted to make good on them -- but should she let him? They were an us, and when he lifted her up, once again, he was carrying her -- in every way. When the first ‘I love you came’, she wasn’t surprised, and wanted to open her mouth up to relay the same words back to him, until what he said next.
A monster Addaya would be for the rest of her life but in that moment he made her feel like she was human, and the way he looked at her made her believe she deserved the love he gave her. Their closeness helped silence the the whispers that snuck up on her at night, dulled the images that and really, it had always been him that had provided that for her. Forrest had ALWAYS been there -- so when he asked her to be, she believed he would. Addaya felt selfish that she let him, but the type of selfish that left her satisfied because he was right -- she’d do the same. He’d known her heart better than she known it herself. Forrest held it in his hands, and really, there wasn’t anyone else she trusted more.
Because now he was admitting she herself held his heart in hers, he was in love with her ( something she was maybe privy of ), he wanted to be with her -- but the difference was, he wanted to be hers. He’d even admitted he’d wanted to marry her and it didn’t frighten or shock her, if anything, it made her close her eyes -- imagining a world where it was all possible.
Maybe Addaya couldn’t say ‘I love you’, not yet, but she loved him. Addaya loved the way his Irish accent fluctuated depending on what he was talking about, she loved the shade of orange his fingernails were always painted, the flowers in his hair, she loved the way he held her to sleep after a particularly bad nightmare, she loved Forrest Fadly so much the pain of being alive was worth feeling if it meant she got to feel even an ounce of him and his love.
“I’d have you then, and I’d have you now,” she whispered, a soft kiss finding itself on his lips as she couldn’t help but smile.
forrestxdweller :
Unfathomable, it seemed, an existence without her. Forrest could remember his life before Addaya, sure. But he couldn’t remember the point of it, the purpose. To be there for her. The meaning of life was simple as that. To see the inquisitive quirk in her smile, or soak in the tempered, brilliant words she had to say. And yet, inevitably, the thought ricocheted about his head still. His personal nightmare.
“I’m coming.” He delved between the towering trees, navigating over twigs and leaves crunching beneath his steps. Forrest couldn’t find the joke in this, the way to make light of it like he usually did. Was she scared? God, he had to find her. His steps quickened, eyes fleeting back and forth to catch a glimpse of the girl. A part of him tried to dwell on the truth that Addaya was more than capable on her own, that her wit or her strength wouldn’t fall short.
‘Forrest.’
His head snapped toward the sound, the direction of his path altering in it’s favour. An intrinsic reaction, one that didn’t require thought. “Addaya?!” Forrest shouted back, breaking into a sprint. And there she was, stumbling over branches and all alone. Large, fast strides closed the distance between them, and he didn’t waste a moment in draping the blanket he’d brought around her shoulders, nor enclosing her frame tightly in his arms. “I’m here, Adds. Right here,” Forrest assured, his eyes closed as he murmured into her hair.
They opened the next second, though, and he reluctantly released her. “Are you hurt?” Subconsciously, his hands tucked away loose strands of her hair. He found her, he found her, he found her. The terror that buzzed in his veins died down, instead replaced with, well, love. It was always present within him for Addaya, but now it practically radiated out of his pores. “Are you okay?”
It was like being engulfed in a silken sunlight that healed, and for a moment -- nothing hurt. All she could feel was his body wrapped around hers, its outlines feeling like her own bones that held her up, in fact she didn’t feel like she was a separate person. Addaya felt like they were a ‘we’ ( though, that was not an uncommon feeling around Forrest ), until the pangs of pain started to tug at her. “I’m hurt, but I’m okay now. I’m here with you.”
Ripped from her chest were emotions -- none of which she wanted to allow peak through but did ( just accept them for once, see where they’ll take you ). Fear, love, anger, all mixed up, engulfing her, d r o w n i n g her. Too much, everything was too much for her to hold in everything she was feeling during the moments she was, “please don’t leave me alone again.”
It was selfish, but she couldn’t do it, at least in the mindset she was in where emotion took over -- barely a fleck of logic shown through -- she knew she needed him. Nights out there destroyed her resolve, especially after she had bitten the Maddie MacMillan. Addaya’s arms tightened around his torso, as her head craned up, her lips depositing light kisses on his jawline.
“I’m NEVER hurting anyone again,” she whispered. Though, it was most likely wishful thinking -- if Addaya had been being herself, she would’ve known the odds of that were slim. By definition she was a monster, a violent one with violent instinctual wants, the chances piled against her. Logically, she would hurt someone again. This didn’t stop her from holding onto Forrest tighter even when she realized how much she didn’t deserve to be in the presence of someone so wonderful. “You shouldn’t have to deal with this.”
forrest fadly:
A full moon, to most, went generally unnoticed. Possibly a passing glance, nothing more than a vague acknowledgement. Not for the werewolves of Hogwarts. Not for Addaya Greyback. And therefore, not for Forrest Fadly. Two sides of a coin, either of the two very seldom left the other’s side. That night, and every one of it’s kind since he’d met the girl, however, he didn’t have a choice. “Aye,” he nodded a distracted greeting to Nefetari and her boyfriend, returning from the trees.
Forrest had been able to at least contain his concern up until that point, but now it surfaced to contort his features. Addaya’s older sister was usually the last of them to return. “Where are you?” He asked, barely a whisper, as if somehow, wherever she was, she’d hear his voice and come walking back to him. Why wasn’t she back yet? Had something happened to her? She was out there alone. Addaya was in the Forbidden Forrest alone. He took a step toward the trees.
And then another, and another. Forrest had promised he wouldn’t follow her, but he’d sooner break it than stand idly by when he could be with her. Really, there wasn’t a thing he wouldn’t do for her. It had never been a slow build up, never casual, never hidden under his nose. The very first time he spoke to Addaya, a nervous first year, bearing the weight of a room almost entirely full of stranger’s judging, he’d felt it. He’d felt it for six years since.
Everything he was, everything he had, ( which, wasn’t very much, admittedly, ) it belonged to Addaya. Always had. Always would.
So he walked closer and closer to the trees, undaunted by whatever may have lurked beyond. The only fear he felt stemmed from the unspeakable, terrifying thought that his concerns were founded. That something had happened to her. It was a fear that had his brows knitted in worry, that had the potential to shatter his world entirely. “Come on, little wolf. I’m here. I’m right there.”
Nights like these she preferred chains. Being locked against something, each pull of them against her skin reminding her of the monster she was much more pleasant than the running, the pushing and pulling of the mind into another plane of existence where she was out of it -- watching herself, but unable to control a thing. Her personal nightmare.
Nights like these she also preferred chains because the metal reminded her of one more thing -- she wasn’t alone. Now, as she tripped over branches, she was. It was scary, and emotions betrayed Addaya’s face, the mask of neutrality she usually wore was off. Addaya was raw, she was cold, and she needed Forrest.
That’s really what it came down to, all in all. Her sister was her sister, and her brothers had those they cared about. While yes, she cared for them all, there was only one person she was trying to get to as she walked through the trees towards Hogwarts. It could’ve been easy to sink into the dirt right there, make a home in the woods, but she had someone who depended on her. Who she depended on. Who she loved.
( Because she really did love him, didn’t she? His love was driving her now, as radiant and true as he was, and keeping her going. It was horrible without him that night. )
‘I’m right there.’ Of course he was, and she felt her legs pick up pace as she went in his direction, “Forrest?” Was her voice even loud enough? Addaya didn’t raise it often, but if any time was the time to, it was probably now. Even if her voice trembled, even though, she felt a sound that resembled anything loud could possibly break her being -- she needed him to hear her. Addaya cleared her voice, using all the strength she could to say, “I’m right here.”

“Look, sweetie, just because we are all forced to wear these drabby, dinky robes on a daily basis doesn’t mean that your hair also needs to be dull. Ever heard of a curling iron? Or, I don’t know, shampoo?”
Twitching her lips into small frown, Addaya was used to these comments and yet they still bothered her slightly. The last time she attempted using a curling iron she burnt half of her cheek. “I use the shampoo fine, thank you. My hair is my hair, if it bothers you so much, you can come into my dorm every morning and do it yourself,” she said neutrally, with a small shrug.

“See, lad? And that’s why Atlantis is real. I’d bet it on my life,” Forrest finished explaining to the first year —- an hour and a half after he begun.
Jumping, no, practically bouncing onto the scene, Addaya smiled over at Forrest, “showing him why Atlantis is real, aye?” she asked, practically mirroring his accent. Of course, it wasn’t in a way that was rudely mocking, just in a way that she sometimes slipped into when she was around him. Going back to her regular voice, she continued, “you showed him the evidence the Muggles digged up in 2017, right?”

reggiemulciber:
“I’m likely the wrong person to ask. But as I understand it, that is the proper decorum, yes.” Reggie was used to looking out for herself and herself only until Lance had begun to change that. “I’m not used to it either, but what I do know is Zabini probably doesn’t want to hear them, regardless if they are proper or not.”
It was nice when the other spoke up -- because for once she didn’t feel like such a complete fish out of water with the humans around her. Complete humans. Forrest was possibly the only person on Earth she didn’t feel like such an anomaly around, but here was this girl who seemed to understand. “Ah, I see, thank you. Really, I appreciate it, I don’t understand why they would do something like this in the first place, though. The sentiment, I understand but shouldn’t it be up to the family? From what I’ve heard and you just said, Miss Zabini isn’t interested in something like this.”
nefetarigrxyback:
“And what, have them thrown in your face like Lily fucking Potter just did?” Nef’s nostrils flared, fists clenched. “Stuck up bitch. You should have headbutted her for that, Addaya. I should do it for you. Doesn’t have a clue what or who she’s on about.”
“I appreciate your concern.” Oh no, her sister was angry. Furious. If she didn’t calm her down soon -- no matter how right she may have been -- this would turn into something akin to another murder, possibly. “Maybe you’re right, Nef. But here is neither the time nor place. I think Lily is very aware, prejudiced, but aware of what’s she’s on about. It’s hard to look at our family in a good way, especially with Xavier being found out.”
lionheartedlily:
Lily’s eyes narrowed at Addaya, recognizing her instantly as a Ravenclaw girl in her year and more importantly the sister of Xavier Greyback, also known as the boy who smashed her friend Daphne’s heart into pieces, the boy they’d been foolish enough to let into the D.A. only to find out he was a double agent. ( Not that she hadn’t protested his admittance in the first place. But it was ridiculously hard to say no to that girl. )
And now his sister was talking to her and chances are she was a Death Eater just like her brother, sent to befriend them all in an effort to replace Xavier as the spy. As if any of them would fall for that again. That entire family clearly didn’t know when to give up.
“Doesn’t surprise me, guess your family’s more used to causing death rather than mourning it.” she snapped, bitterness enunciating every syllable. “I mean, I don’t recall seeing any of your lot at Minister Shacklebolt’s memorial. But yes, go give your condolences to that idiot who practically dug his own grave the moment he decided to join a neo-Death Eater movement – I’m sure that’ll make Daddy very proud.”
If it surprised Lily Potter that Addaya Greyback wasn’t used to that sort of reaction from most of the public, she was sorely mistaken. Maybe, she’d thought that everyone was capable of being cordial -- but it was a futile hope. “I don’t disagree with you.” Because it was true, they were. Death was what they all seemed to be good at -- even if Addaya tried to reject her nature ( at least, that’s what he said, that she was rejecting it ). Even if Lily didn’t know her personal background, everything she said about her family was right from an objective standpoint.
She took a deep breath thinking of what to say, were her palms getting sweaty? No, she needed to stay calm, calm like she always was, a neutral expression still on her face. Lily wouldn’t rile her up, not when she knew her truth so well.
“I sadly wasn’t able to attend Minister Shacklebolt’s funeral, I felt it would be disrespectful if I showed up.” Not only could she not attend Minister Shacklebolt’s funeral, but she’d been given strict orders not to go. Besides, her presence there would’ve been horrible -- it would’ve been a reminder of what the man who called himself her ‘father’ did to a family, to an icon, to a legend. “You'll judge me for Greyback’s actions all you’d like, Lily, but I’m not him. I’m not going to try to prove it to you, that would be futile, but since I do have some self respect -- I’d ask you not to speak that way to me, please.”
“I suppose ... -- I’m supposed to give my condolences, correct?” she whispered to the person next to her, quickly. Not that she didn’t care, it’s just that she didn’t know what to do in these sort of situations. “I’m not used to events like this after someone dies.”
I’m a satellite heart Lost in the dark I’m spun out so far You stop, I start
But my heart was weak. I had to cut it out of my chest and think logically.
