Hello all! It's @pleasantspark and @satansboot! Today we're bringing you, REHAB RESORTS (Patent pending)

What is this?

This is a full scale redesign and rewrite for Vivienne Medrano's Hazbin Hotel series while separating from it, that means replacing any characters and OG Storylines with personal creations.

Do you need anyone on the team?

Well we do need artists and or writers, we do got an artist (offsite) but they only want to be referred to as Cane. For simplicities sake.

Ask box?

Well it's closed as we're currently starting this blog together. Satan and I prefer we start it off then we open asks.

As of now it's opened ask anything regarding the AU, we do not accept critical asks, go to @onionbug-critical for critical related things. Unless you do want to talk about critical regarding it.

Since SB quit Tumblr after the incident involving something I cannot name, she has decided to coordinate on Discord where she sends most of the artwork on. That's why there's only I, PS on this blog.

However, she does have creative control over what the posts do, so if you have a question for her, I send in the image to the question and she answers in DMs on Discord. Any answered asks come from with a specific tag.

Differences from OG Sources and Rewrites

Charlie Morningstar and the Morningstar family are canonically not the monarch's of Hell, Satan is the real ruler whose been mystically absent and coincidentally been on and off these past few days disappearing whenever Azazel and the Exorcists comes to play.

Charlie's replacement is the daughter of Satan, Jezebel Morde. She is currently opening up a rehab clinic for the denizens of Hell in order to prove to her father that she can and most certainly will finish her dead line and prove Hell and Azazel Wrong.

Um SB decided that Hell has no WiFi and that it's all replaced with McDonald's WiFi and that Bidets in Hell were replaced with toilets because Lucifer.

I am pleased to say, I am about halfway done with Overture's script! I just am waiting for an abridged on the vocals, but that's beyond the point! So, there's these voices opened!

As someone who recently realized he had to kill his darlings of 14 years, I can safely say that it's probably for the best tbh. It's super duper hard when you realize you have to do that, but constantly worrying about getting everything perfect and making sure everyone likes your funky little dudes to the point where even the slightest whiff of someone being "meh" to them is enough to make you spiral is arguably even worse of a feeling.

At least that's my two cents regarding Viv and her stuff.

Same. It sucks to let things go, but you can either tell a coherent story or cling to ideas that you know damn well are crapping everything up.

You also make your peace early on with the fact that not everyone's going to love your funky little dudes as much as you do, and that some people are going to want to beat them with tire irons, and that's okay.

Sinners are allowed to leave Hell to Earth, but it's only for Overlords, so they can pretend to be a Human on Earth and LARP. I think in my Vox Populi fic, Zestial posed as a Human in `1950s where he married a Seraphim (Who also posed as a human) and they had a daughter.

It's hard to explain but if anyone asks I can elaborate. I also have some interesting headcanons and stuff about the Resort Staff so come on ask.

This poll is in reference to the future of the story, as we all know there's been mentions of people wishing Hazbin was a Visual Novel, we already are writing a fanfiction of it right now, like the rewrite. But we would like to know. Would you like a Visual Novel made in ren'py or just leave for a fanfiction?

Note: if there will be a Visual Novel, then we have to hire sprite artists which would end up having a paypal be sent so we can fund sprite artists, choose wisely.

The reason for this change is due to wanting to brand this side blog as somewhat of a interactive one like a hub where we share headcanons and talk about the characters. And hell, you can suggest names for the redone characters! The poll last a day.

things some people, especially people who are new to ao3 or fandom/fanfic space as a whole, seem to not understand:

archive of our own is an archive. not a social media.

archive of our own was built with the stance that there would be no censorship, because other platforms already had censorship where some things that were taboo were reported/removed. ao3 was built with the purpose that all of these works, that were not allowed on other platforms, would be allowed on ao3.

the archive will house anything that’s considered fanworks. so no, you cannot report this fic because it portrays in explicit details taboo topics about xyz, you cannot report that fic because it romanticizes and glorifies xyz. ao3 will not remove any of those fics, because whether or not you like it, those fics do not go against ao3’s terms of service.

“but these things are not allowed on other platforms” that’s precisely why ao3 was created, to house and give a platform to these things that were censored/banned/removed from other platforms.

if you have a problem with this, you can use other platforms to post and read fanfics

but you should also know that ao3 by far has the best tagging system, meaning you won’t get anything like what ao3 provides on other platforms, meaning it may be a pain in the ass for you to find a fic with the prompts and pairing you’re looking for, meaning you may still get jump scared by things that are triggering to you half way through your reading of what you thought was an innocent fic. because other platforms don’t have tagging systems, where you can find and avoid any character/pairing/tag as you please, like ao3.

i think it's quite harmful to share the mindset that basically anything goes on ao3. yes, tags and filtering are super helpful to avoid your dislikes, but because of how many "taboo topics" are written, it's more challenging to find what i want when i have to scroll past abuse, mental health glorification, etc. i think authors need to really take some time to self evaluate and really come to terms with what they're writiinf and if it's that important to be written.

actually, authors can write whatever they want because they write for themselves. not. for. you.

we don't have to cater to your personal liking or comfort because we fucking write whatever the hell we want for ourselves. we are our main audience and priorities. and we already tag our warnings, it's your job to avoid them.

also if you actually filter out tags about topics you don't like, you won't have to scroll past most of the things you don't like, because every fic that's tagged as such just won't show up on your screen at all

Ah yes, and here we have tumblr user "innocent bean" telling AO3 to abandon the mission they were created for, and fan authors to shut up and conform all of their fic to what "innocent bean" wants to read.

Naming Conventions

Back in the days of Biblically Inaccurate, I had naming conventions like in DBZ where the species all had varying names for qualities, though they were named as such due to personal status. The Cherubs in BI were all at least named after things that were meaning new and fresh (Like Genesis or Neo or even Inizio). But I have decided to bring it back for RehabResorts. So, any naming convention are for Imps and Sinners, depending on who they were as a person in life or profession.

Striker and Blitz (Now named Blade and Slasher) are all named that due to being both from backgrounds invovling assassinations or hitmen.

Miley and Monty are all named that due to Monty being a sophisticated name (Moxxie) and Miley just a southern like name and I was thinking of Miley Cyrus era of Party in The USA.

Cernunnos does not swear, I purposefully made it to where he never swears like how his inspiration Alastor is intending, though if he were to swear it'll be a moment where he actually is serious about it.

Maybe a once per season deal, but no. Cernunnos is not someone who swears.

Have you ever considered writing fanfiction for your Hazbin Hotel rewrite? I’ve only seen rewrites for Mimzy, Fizz, and Ozzie, but you have absolutely banger ideas!

We in fact have! In our pinned post there's a full rewrite of the first episode of Hazbin Hotel, we're still trying to figure out which to do with Helluva, but we might alternate between the two.

Yeah, I can say there is some critics who do it, and some who get away with falsely accusing some people. I am no longer as invested in this side of the community (especially when I can see how often people choose to believe someone who has way more follower base then others.)

SB and I decided to choose to take these characters and make it our own thing. The problem with the critics is the egoism, and the acts of insisting the people who call them out for their disingenuous behaviors are in the wrong. Believe me, I have tried to tell people that I didn't call anyone a retard several times and because people who have actively followed the situation chose to believe the other side because they're "Against" abelism (when activism is more then sitting on your ass and make a post on a website,) some d these people loooooove to claim "I am a advocate for xyz!" but they have never donated a dime to those in needs.

I find it those who claim they represent what they claim to care about are most certainly doing the things they disagree of in the back.

I do want to recinde what I claimed about Viv being a neo-nazi. The community has convinced us that she was one, she's distasteful for drawing nazi stuff. This community has severe toxic negativity and nitpick everything she has done. Where there's no claims of Viv making Mimzy Jewish. Yet they point out the racist traits which says a lot about them as people.

As for the racial part, I don't care if Alastor is black, it was a stupid thing she did and as a black person myself she should have changed the symbols to radio ones. Most of the critical community just wants to overreact for no reason.

I am starting to believe they focus more on Viv's actions rather then the point across. This community has turned into a borderline a-log/snark community. Give it a few before the more "outspoken" ones start calling for personal armies.

I am tired of having to pretend to be a cool awesome liberal/democrat when all I want to do is enjoy taboo and dark media without some kid calling us "proshipper" I am well within my rights to explore dark topics, as much as you are to block me.

I am tired of the same points on Stolitz being shit (I already did make a post where it was compared to abusive relationship.), how RACCCCIST Viv is or just some complete complaining of something no one cares about.

At this rate. Just make your own Hazbin Hotel with blackjack and hookers. With how much you say you want to like this show and can't. Which is what we're doing.

SatansBoot here, if you see. There's more people saying that the Mimzy design is "Racist" when we had made it clear she's not Jewish. We tend to rewrite characters from scratch. We take the ideas Viv had, and incorporate them into the story somehow.

There's no ties to Jewish History to the redesign of Mimzy and it's quite telling to those who is saying it's still racist when there's no mentions of her past as being Jewish.

I am gonna be upfront with you all, if you are quick to call out something for being racist without reading into it. You are assigning the racist stereotypes yourself. We did not ask you to claim Mimzy was Jewish, you went ahead and assigned that yourself.

What does that say about yourself for someone whose been assigning a nationality to a redesigned character that was specifically meant to remove the problematic nationality.

I am saying, I am more concerning you as being the racist rather then whatever headcanon that Mimzy was given. If you have nothing to contribute in regards to her redesign other then scream out "THATS RACIST" then you should go back to school and learn to read.

Also, Rewrites tend to redesign/rewrite full characters. We made it clear that characters in this rewrite are NOTHING the same as they were initially. Rewrites DON'T just mean change one aspect of a characters personality, it means everything. Thanks.

Yeah rethink giving your "greedy coward" character a hooked nose it plays into antisemitic stereotypes and is also just gross in general

According to the artist Mimzy isn't Jewish, we made it clear from the storyline. I don't really know what more I can say other then that, we did our best with removing any ties with the original design, and redesign it.

If you have to point out a feature of a character as being racist when there was no mentions of the characters nationality within the redone story, then you my friend are just racist. I do not know what else to tell you all, other then read the story and then come back to us.

We also have kinda forgotten about this AU, so you're late on this. All the time you had writing this scathing ask, you could spend it in reading into it. Please point us to where in the character rewrite we stated she was Jewish.

I also want to know where Mimzy's old nationality points to her being Jewish too, I am beginning to slowly catch on that most of what people say about Viv is either false or blown out of proportion. Unless there's probable proof of it, I am not gonna believe a random person who can't even say this on their own account. Because a lot of people hate Viv, I included but you gonna need to show proof.

I'm glad people liked the Lilith design. I hope to work a bit more on some more. Might be in batches and not as polished. As I've grown to find out theres alot of characters I don't actually like. Just because if how Vivianne wrote them and rewatching them how they become flanderized.
