HOW I LIFT, Tips and tricks

HOOD/HAIR FIX METHOD : I know it’s very dumb to take young children with you. But I take my 13 year old brother with me and this works very well. So he has a Canada Goose jacket with a big ass hood and it’s handy af for concealing small things. Side tip, wear a few brands so you look too expensive to be lifting. When I want to lift a cute lipstick or something, I take it from behind the row with lipsticks as I shove it into my sleeve so that it looks like I can’t find my color or something. I wait then for a few minutes, search through other lipsticks and stuff. And after waiting for a while, i’m going to pretend as if i’m trying to fix my brother’s hood while dropping the item in there. You can alsonpretend as if you want to fix your hair while dropping it in your hoodie.

BEST WAY CONCEAL ITEMS ON THE GROUND : If you are in a make-up store where make-up is placed from the ground to a teachable height, reach to the items that are the closest to the ground. For example :

Reach for the lowest row and take stuff in your hand to that row and conceal it in your sleeve behind the bag that you have put on the ground. You can use a big bag because if they are going to search in your bag, they are not gonna find shit because the items are in your sleeve. One particular store I go to has the make-up section close to the check-out but the make-up section is also in a corner like the picture above. So they have placed a rack with items that are on sale right next to the make-up. So I don’t have to sit on my knees on the ground to conceal but behind the rack. Since they have racks each way of that particular make-up brand section, you can conceal a lot because it creates a kind of “wall”.

3. HIDE SECURITY TAGS AND RFID STICKERS IN THE CHANGING ROOM : So the first method I use is to collect the clothes you want to lift and one unnecessary item with pockets, like a pants or something. Conceal the clothes under your normal clothes and put the sticker in the back pocket of the pants. For bigger things like a security tag that has to be removed with a magnet or hook : Take a jacket with pockets inside or put them in the hood. Hang them back in the store, not on the rack by the fitting room because they may check the clothes before hanging them back. Method 2 : Tape the stickers and tags under the chair in the changing room. Or chewing gum for stickers ;)

4. HOLE IN POCKET METHOD : I discovered this method when I wore my old jacket. I lifted some make up with my sleeve. when I walked out of the store I put all of the make-up in my pocket and went to the next store. While I was walking to the other store, I noticed that all the make up items disappeared. But I forgot about the hole and the make-up sagged to the back of my jacket because of the hole. Perfect way to lift things without a bag and prevent the LP from finding things in your pockets because they reach for the pockets and bag.

5. CODE LANGUAGE AND LIFTING BUDDY: I used to have a best lifting buddy, like we lifted a lot. We have an “ov card” in the Netherlands for travelling with the bus and train. Because we are students, we can travel free in the whole country so we went to so much big cities and took a small purse with a folded plastic bag in it. We wore the lifted clothes, went to a public bathroom to take off all the clothes. We put them in the plastic bag and asked a store if we could leave the plastic bag there because we had an appointment. We came back and we took the plastic bag back after lifting another store and did the same thing again.

So when we were both in the changing room and one of us was finished earlier, and one of us sat on the chairs by the changing room and we gave signals to eachother. If a employee came to the changing rooms to clear them, and I was done with lifting and ready to leave the changing room, I would ask to my friend if “{name} was online on Facebook. “Yes and he’s typing” means she or he are still here. “He’s offline” means he/she left. So it was safe to leave the changing room.

6. RUBBER BAND AROUND WRIST: Wear a hair band around your wrist and shove lipsticks between your wrist and the hair band. Conceal it with a sweater or jacket.

You can pinch the inside of another garment together and stick it on there and then put the garment back on the rack yourself; never let a sales associate take it from you or clip them on the inside pocket of jeans. Don’t just slide them into pockets because it could fall out right in front of someone. OR you could bring tape with you when you go lifting and tape the tags on the bottom of chairs or whatever else you can find in a dressing room.😊

Much Requested Tips!

I receive a LOT of asks from new lifters/baby lifters and people considering starting to lift and a lot are very similar. I’m really flattered that people look up to me and come to me for advice so thank you guys💞 however, I think it might be convenient to make a big, general post for you guys.

Not all of these tips and strategies are mine! Some I came up with, some I’ve read and seen from other lifters. I am not trying to steal anyone’s credit. No pun intended 😉

Any tips on getting a instax? Ik staples and sams club has them but I don't know if they'll be in the box, the other day when I went to Michaels they weren't in the box

Toys r us!!!! Best store for inexpensive electronics like instax, headphones, Bluetooth speakers, etc. Just take whatever you want, go to an empty isle and shove it in your bag. I’ve never seen tags, but still check of course.

I want us as a community to progress from labeling out every price and gradually develop to explaining what method you used, how it went, what your store is like. I feel like it could be beneficial, that we could go from talking about how much we can steal (which is a bad influence on more new lifters who want to be able to steal hundreds, or even thousands immediately) to a more helpful sharing of situations and tips, since even if you’re just using sleight of hand to say, steal that lipstick, you all have you own, slight changes to how about you do use the sleight of hand. Like, I use it primarily when I’m walking down an isle, preferably with the camera towards my back, because walking more easily masks my movements. We’d be able to see what you got and where on your hauls (visual reinforcement to a location) and be able to spread tips more frequently. idk, this is just something that’s been on my mind for a while. I always look at y’all’s hauls and wonder how you did it. I just kinda want all of us to be able to actively help develop our community so that we become well-versed in the variations of lifting instead of just one specific way of doing things and ultimately all become badasses

At my VS/Pink (they’re attached) I get a shopper’s bag (the Pink one not the VS one because it has more solid colours at the bottom) and go around filling it up with everything that I want (undies, headbands, sports bras, bikinis - anything without a tag- which surprisingly there was a lot of!) and then i fill the rest of the bag with sweaters/leggings/ and more bulky things to cover what i have at the bottom. Then I go to the change room were they usually don’t count- ESPECIALLY if you’re super friendly and ask how their day’s been!!

(I always ask “Can I use my PINK gift card in the VS section too?” just to show them I’ll “actually” buy something, while waving around an empty card I stole awhile ago and wrote “$250 - Happy Birthday, love you!” or something on it.

Then I fill up my own bags (my purse and also a Lululemon shopping bag because they’re sold and button closed at the top) with everything that doesn’t have tags on (double checking every last item) and then give back half and keep half. Sometime I even ask “where do you recommend me to get these leggings hemmed? They’re a bit long for me!” Then I just saunter out the door :) and usually have a stupid smile on my face because of how excited I am to get such a big haul! haha

stole an xbox from best buy. I was out of town and with a lifting bud, she dropped me off and was near the front ready to gtfo when I came out. I went to the xboxes grabbed a random bundle (they don’t tag these bc they assume no one will steal them). I calmly avoided the worker in that area and went to the laptops across the way. Then, pulled out a receipt to look like I had purchased it in the back. bc it’s big it wouldn’t be wrapped so having the ticket out and clear is what sold this. Next I just calmly and confidentiality walked out. The guy in the front didn’t bat an eye at me.

Master Post on Ulta💄

Decided to share everything I know about Ulta. I was employed at this shithole for 4 months before I quit. Have at it.

SECURITY: Alright. So the Ulta I worked at never had LP. They might hire Security during busy holidays, Black Friday and so on, but the store where I worked relied solely on the employees to stop shrink and theft. We had to do special LP training. We are NOT allowed to ask to search somebody’s bag or purse. We are not allowed to imply directly that you stole something. If we see you put something in your bag, we can ask something like “I saw you looking at that Tarte Bloom Pallete! Can I suggest one of my favorite products to pair with it?” Basically my GM explained it like this. “Never accuse a guest of theft, be as kind and overly helpful as you can if you suspect something. Usually the thief will put back the stolen merchandise out of guilt if you kill them with customer service.” Now if we see you steal something and we are 100% sure, then we notify a manager, watch footage on cameras to confirm the theft, and then contact police. If you beep on the way out of our store and happen to have a SA stop you, or you make the mistake of stopping/turning around after you’ve beeped, they say something like “let me check your shopping bag to make sure we didn’t miss something!” If they check and you beep again you’re screwed. Moving on, our cameras seriously suck. The frame rates are awful. We can zoom but the quality is awful. There is usually a manager in the office but they rarely watch the cameras. Often they are organizing the back room or doing paperwork/scheduling. There are usually little tags stuck on expensive products. Super easy to peel off.

TIPS: 1. NEVER CONCEAL IN FRONT OF ANOTHER CUSTOMER. EVER. 2. DO NOT take products out of boxes and hide boxes in store. It’s seriously so stupid. We find them and put them in a box called Know Theft and go over tapes to see who placed it there. You’re always better off taking the whole box. 3. Because our frame rates are so low, it gives you the perfect opportunity to lift/conceal in the open, as long as you do it really quickly. Does this mean you should be careless and constantly conceal without blind spots? Heck no. Be careful not careless. 4. BLINDSPOTS are your friend! There are almost always blindspots in prestige haircare. If you can’t find one, create one with your body while facing away from the camera. 5. NEVER linger in one isle for too long. 6. DO NOT look around super obviously at cameras and SA’s. This is a sure sign you’re lifting. 7. DO NOT go from prestige to haircare to prestige and back again a gazillion times. This is another thing we are supposed to look for. 8. DO dress nice. Like you can afford to buy everything in the store. It’s bad, I know. But if I saw somebody dressed to the 9’s I never suspected them. 9. If you carry an Ulta shopping bag, and use this method to lift, make sure you put extra products you don’t want in them so if you ditch the bag, it doesn’t look sus. 10. A tip I’ve used lots of times to lift at Ulta’s. I would load up my bag with tons of products and take a couple to the front and bring a coupon with me. I knew it was expired or I knew it wouldn’t work on prestige products. I would bring my items up, give them the coupon, and when they told me it didn’t work I acted super bummed and told them I would wait to buy them and leave with my purse stashed. It gives you a way out without just leaving. 11. If you beep, keep going!! Don’t look back. 12. Park far away or out of sight of the store just in case. They will try to get your plate if suspected. 13. Try walking out at the same time as another person so if you beep it could have been either of you. Turn around and look at the other person and raise your eyebrows real suspicious like. 😂 14. Never take more then 20 minutes in a store when lifting. I always try to make a 10-15 minute lift or less. 15. Be NICE to SA’s. I was way less likely to sus a person that was friendly and sweet to me. Somebody that was rude or ignored me was someone I suspected more so. 16. If you see managers come from the back and SA’s check you out in the store or come up and ask you if you need help a ton, drop your shit and gtfo. Stash it somewhere in the store. Get out. Use common sense. If you get a bad feeling, trust your instincts. Seriously. 17. Don’t get too greedy. 18. If you can, try to lift more on your body. Not so much in your purse. Hide in your bra, your waist band, your boots. It’s always safer. The first place somebody will look is your purse. 19. Try not to lift in groups. I was always more sus of three teenage girls than I would be if one person was browsing. A lot of people like lifting partners. I honestly feel like it’s better and safer to fly solo. 20. Wait awhile between each lifting visit at any store. It’s smart. It’s safe. I’d say 2 weeks to be super safe.

10/10 Grocery Method

This method has worked for me and everyone else I’ve shared it with, honestly I was just sitting in the car one day, and thought of this. Won’t work for a huge grocery haul but is PERFECT FOR CONCEALING. This works at any grocery store. Get your items in a basket or whatever and go to the freezer section to be “looking for ice cream” as you are looking for ice cream have your purse situated on the side of your body where the door is blocking you; the condensation will block the next part. the items you want to conceal should be in your hand and literally just drop them In! So easy and works 10/10. No grocery stores know of this yet…. I literally just thought of this about a month ago & it’s perfect because the condensation on the door will make it pretty much impossible for the cameras to see you. I also prefer to lean in so my body is almost inside the freezer, for even more comfort knowing no one can see you ;)

My target has cameras and each end of the freezer isles so what I do is open two freezer doors act like Im going between two sections “shopping” in the mean time the doors become fogged and I make a double blind spot concealing method. :D achieving unlimited frozen fruit and expensive oven/stove dinners achievement!

here’s my method for concealing if anyone is interested & I’m using a f21 bag

• start by picking up two of the same item (one decoy one you are going to lift)

• put one in your hand that is on the side with your bag

• while your other hand is holding the decoy, (you can put it back or if u wanna be rly sneaky grab another one so you can have two again and then put both back later) palm the item and slip it in ur bag in between the handle

I haven't made a lifting blog yet, but I've been in the game 15+ years and I've got to share a tip for magnets: wear (or claim to be wearing) a magnetic back brace. Magnetic jewelry and braces are very common to ease arthritis and pain issues. You can even conceal your magnets here without being sus. You likely won't be questioned about your brace and if you are then you can very easily claim harassment. This tip is foolproof for magnet detectors and stores where your magnet beeps on the way in.
