⸻ keri russell, 50, cis female, she & her ; … around redford, names don’t stay clean for long. addison allen is no exception. they are fifty, born and raised or just passing through the town. when the sun rises, they work as dance teacher, but around here, that rarely tells the whole story. their name has been heard in connection to the decker family ( jett’s lover connected ) and like most in this town, they carry their weight in quiet ways. some say they can be bossy and passionate, depending on who’s asking and what’s at stake. they’ve laid claim to briar ridge, though ownership in redford is never as simple as it looks. land shifts, loyalties change, and nothing stays untouched for long. lately, their name has been circling for being pro preservation. in a town where legacy matters and progress threatens, the only question that ever really lingers is this: will they hold their ground or lose everything trying? Elizabeth Walsh was a fourth grade English Teacher in the heart of Savannah, Georgia. She was married to a Politician named Nicholas Walsh. Having an older son named William Thomas Walsh, when he was three years old the couple had welcomed their second child and first daughter into the World. Naming her Addison Elizabeth Walsh, the couple was happy and in love.
William and Addison were thick as thieves, and she loved that it was only the two of them. It wasn’t until Matthew was six and Addison was three that their parents surprised them and told them they’d be older siblings, and nine months later another baby girl was brought into the family. Naming her Cassidy Renee Walsh, and then the three were thick as thieves. When William was nine, Addison was six and Cassidy was three that’s when their parents said surprise again, and welcomed another beautiful baby into this busy but wonderful family. Their last and final child, this time another boy. Naming him Gregory Vincent Walsh, the three older Walsh siblings were happy and in love with their new bundle of joy.
Growing up, Addison never felt alone. She had her siblings and they were her best friends. She was close with her parents and it was no surprise that Addison was considered the it girl within her town and school. Though Addison was shy and quiet it helped that her older brother had a reputation to uphold. Getting straight A’s, and being captain of the Dance team all through her school years. Preferably a pro in ballet and hip hop, Addison saw herself doing it as a career.
Getting accepted into The University Of Chicago, Addison packed up her bags after High School and headed to the windy city. She majored in Dance, getting her Bachelor in Fine Arts, while she minored in Business. Practice, practice, practice. That’s all she did for two years straight during her freshman and sophomore year at The University Of Chicago to become a Prima Ballerina. Within that time Addison mostly kept to herself, but it wasn’t till her Junior year she decided to finally let loose a little. This is where she started to hang out more with her friends and date a little here and there, though nothing ever stuck for her. That was until she had ran into her childhood best friend a few years later named Christopher Roy. Christopher Roy and Addison Walsh were best friends, always getting teased at a young age that they’d end up together. She didn’t even know he was in Chicago until one night she and her girlfriends were at a bar and that’s when Addison saw him. It was like no time had passed and they picked up right where they left off and the two grew close. Close enough to where they always found themselves wrapped up within the sheets and whispering sweet nothings to each other. It wasn’t until his ex girlfriend Emily showed up that he knew he was going back to her, that this little love affair of theirs wasn’t going to last. So he left her, he left her heartbroken and pregnant. Pregnant. The two little pink lines showed up on a test a few weeks later. Deciding not to tell him about it, Addison tried to get an abortion but she just couldn’t go through with it. However, she miscarried a few days later. The whole situation left her devastated and heartbroken, the pain that this whole experience caused almost killed her.
She got a call from the New York Ballet Company a few months later with an opportunity of a life time. It was an audition, an audition to be apart of the New York Ballet Company, and of course, Addison made it. So Addison packed up her things once again and moved to the big apple. She was a Prima Ballerina for the New York Ballet Company with a fresh start, and so Addison dedicated her life to dance and the company. From her late twenties to her early forties, she was the star of the company and big within the dance World making a name for herself. This is where she found her people, her best friends, her family she made. This is where she found the love of her life, a Politician named Matthew Allen from Redford, Texas. They met through mutual friends and the rest was history. Trying to get pregnant, it wasn’t it the cards for them. Things got tough between them and the two grew estranged. Addison found out that Matthew was cheating on her, but what he doesn’t know is that she cheated on him with his best friend named Jett Decker. Will all the heartbreak she’s been through in life, dance just wasn’t it for her anymore, the city wasn’t it for her anymore either. It wasn’t until she was forty that she decided to retire, hanging up her ballet shoes and tutu and finally let her hair loose from the tight bun. This is when Addison decided she wanted a quiet life, away from the cheers and claps and the noises from the city that never sleeps, away from the fighting with her husband whom she loved more than anything. This is when she moved Redford, Texas. Matthew did end up coming with her, but not to be with her. To be the mayor of this town to make a change and a difference. She has been here for nine years living in a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom ranch, teaching Ballet to little ones at a dance studio. What she doesn’t know however is that her husband and her former lover Christopher Roy are all here.
It had been a shitty weekend. Addison needed him. She wanted him. The thought of not being with him right now was killing her. All she could think about was his lips on hers. All she could think about was their bodies tangled within the sheets. This was a dangerous, very dangerous game they were playing but Addison didn't care. Not right now. Not when her husband, estranged husband told her he was moving out of the house for a bit and living at the office. They needed space. But it wasn't because of this. It wasn't because of them, because Matthew didn't know about her affair. Not that she knew of anyway. Right now their affair, her affair with Jett was private. Or we at least for now it was.
This was a dumb mistake. This was stupid and she knew it. They knew it. But the women needed him tonight. She couldn't wait for him. It had been a minute and the women needed to feel his touch. God she missed him and the moment he was in her kitchen, Addison got on his lap and straddled him. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his lips softly "I missed you." She whispered quietly and then bit down on her lips, pressing her forehead to his "Spend the night. Matt's not home." Sitting up on his lap, Addison pushed her hair out of her face to give them some space to breathe. "I just need you to hold me tonight. Please Jett?" Her wedding ring visible on her finger the brunette took a deep breath "I need you."
" you want one? " fingers carefully extended a cigarette as another held onto her old metal lighter. " the bar is kind of empty, we close in a bit " it was late into the night, natalya felt uneasy with boredom, something a smoke could fix.
a regular job would, convenient to hide any of her crimes, yet a pain in the ass, nat often regret it taking it. " i can still pour a shot of something, but you gotta wait for nicotine to settle in " her lips curled in a grin, mischievous yet barely lit beneath the dim light of rattlesnake's entrance. " what do you say? "
all addison needed was a drink. that's all she needed. a whiskey sour to drown her sorrows. to drown her miserable thoughts that played throughout her head like a vhs tape in her mind. however when she got to the rattlesnake bar, addison saw that the lot was empty, only a couple of cars and she cursed herself "fuck."this place better not be closed or closing, addison had a massive headache and she just wanted to sit inside with some alcohol. spotting natalya, she shook her head "no thanks. trying to quit." that was a complete and total lie. addison still smoked.
she had a shitty weekend and with natalya's attempt the brunette nodded her head "ah fuck it, give me one of those please." she opened her hand out for the cigarette and then nodded her head "fuck. yes please give me some whiskey if you can."
Smoked brisket, grilled corn, and fried chicken were things that were evidently very popular in Redford, but not on Laurie’s own personal menu. He was used to Kobe beef steaks, Dom Pérignon, and sides of caviar. And he preferred to stick to that. To most others, the delicious smells would have made them hungry, but for Laurie it made him lose his appetite all together.
The laughter and the cheers from the arena echoed in the air and it made him roll his eyes. This is what passed for entertainment? This is what people wanted to spend their time on? Ridiculous. He found better entertainment from a busker on a random street corner in the East Village.
“Do you actually enjoy this kind of event?” Laurie asked brazenly to the person beside him, almost laughing.
Addison had experienced life in all different kind of states. She was from Georgia originally but the brunette got to live in the windy city and the moved to the city that never sleeps. Now she was in the smallest town in Texas where family and friends and events like these meant everything to them. It was a packed event and she was happy for the Decker's family's sake as this was something they put together each year.
She watched as the bull rider rode the bull and the crowds cheered, it god loud and Addison stepped out of the room for a moment to collect her thoughts. The women looked up and saw Laurie and rolled her eyes "I mean, you get used to them after a while. It's nice though, especially come summer when all the actual events start."
the booth smells like gunpowder and cheap prizes, plastic and sun-warmed fabric, the kind of place jett wouldn't usually give a second look. he stands there anyway, rifle resting easy in his hands, posture steady, grounded - this part, at least, makes sense. the first shot cracks clean through the noise, then another, then another. no rush or wasted movement. just control. by the time he's done, the targets are down, and the guy behind the booth is already reaching for a prize
the plush looks almost stupid - soft, bright pink, out of place against the grit of everything else. he takes it and turns, gaze slowly scanning the crowd until he finds her. doesn't take long. it never does
addison. by the time she reaches him, he's leaning against the booth, rifle already set aside, the plush hanging loose from his fingers like he hasn't decided what it means yet
"just won it" the man adds with a grin, almost proud of himself. his thumbs brushing absently against the fabric as he hands her the plush "figured it ain't look right on me, carryin' this shit 'round"
this is an event that the decker's have been doing for years. while addison hasn't been here her whole life, she's been here for a good chunk of it. ten years. ten years she's been here making this place home and it was. most days it was home. other days it still felt like an escape from her past even if her past is standing right in front of her. well apart of her past was anyway, the other part of her past was roaming the town somewhere introducing himself as the mayor. her estranged husband and his best friend, the two most important men in her life. god she made this so messy. as jett stood there shooting the gun she watched. he was so damn attractive.
she wasn't close by, but close enough to see him catch her gaze and addison bit down on her bottom lip. she wanted him and needed him now. screw this event. all addison wanted to do was screw him. trying to collect herself she headed over to him she smirked and shook her head "you won me a prize." addison said embarrassed, but then let out a laugh "why thank you kind sir." wanting so badly to kiss him she pushed the thought out of her mind, they were in fact in public and the two couldn't do anything in front of these people. "i'd say we get out of here but matthew is roaming somewhere and he'd notice if i'm gone. " she whispered in his ear and then sighed "buy me a drink?"
