Jackson smiled, “My pleasure.” He nodded in agreement, clicking his tongue. “Definitely. Besides, a little rebellion never hurt anyone. I’m not asking you to join a gang or anything, just sit outside past curfew.” He leaned back on his palms, feeling the soft blanket underneath his calloused fingertips as he joined her in looking out at the water. “That makes sense. I feel the same way. It’s hard to be away from my mom. This is also my first time away for a long period of time since my dad died. Luckily, I can FaceTime her and check in through texts, but I know the feeling.” Jackson assured her softly. Turning his head to look at her, he laughed, “I considered murdering you, but only because it feeds so nicely into the classic teenager camp slaying.” He teased with a grin. “Joking aside, I just wanted to talk to you more. Something about you.. sticks with me. I can’t explain it.” He admitted softly, looking back out at the water. “But good to know you can kick my ass. If I ever need protection, I’ll hit you up.”
Addy rolled her eyes. “Right, because that’s what our teenage years are supposed to be for.” She’d never really cared what she was supposed to be doing, only what she wanted to be doing, and following the rules suited her just fine. “Only a small risk, true, but a risk nonetheless, and for all we know a bootable offense.” She figured, or rather hoped, that that was an exaggeration, but she had no way of knowing for sure. At the mention of his father’s passing, she glanced his way to see if she could read his expression, but ended up staring instead. “Yeah I’d imagine that must be difficult, but it’s good that you can keep in such constant contact.” When he turned to face her, she flushed and looked away immediately. Clearing her throat in an attempt to compose herself, she let out a small chuckle. “True, but when was the last time one of those slasher stories happened at a theatre camp? Probably never.” Though she had to admit that would make for an interesting plot. As a flush crept up her cheeks, his words had Addy feeling conflicted, unsure if he meant them, or was simply flirting to get into her good graces. Deciding not to worry about it, she smiled shyly, but couldn’t meet his eyes. “Well that’s alright then, I guess.” Letting out a genuine laugh made her feel lighter, and she turned towards him with a smirk. “You bet I can, but who says I’d even be on your side?”
