Character Aesthetic // Adela Yuliana Cebotari
“And I think that maybe I was designed to be alone”
How is it February 11th? Time needs to slow down.
"What do you mean it's not 2012?"
The slap of her hand across Adela’s face probably wasn’t the right thing to do, not that Agnes actually gave a shit. Thank god for the curtains keeping them away from everyone else, her actions would have had her kicked out. “I should have let you, you coward,” The brunette glared down at the younger princess.”You would be so damn delighted while the people who actually care about you suffer the consequence of your actions, wouldn’t you?”
Adela didn't reply to the slap. She was used to the sharp contact of a ringed hand against the skin of her cheek, the punishment her mother would always give when she did something wrong. "Who, Agnes? Who would suffer? Everyone I care about is dead, and you couldn't even let me be with them." she growled out. They were all gone and she was stuck here. Alone.
She frowned at the lack of response (the wince was nothing to her) before glancing around to make sure that nobody was watching them. Agnes drew the curtain around Adela’s bed, hiding them from the rest of the infirmary. The last thing she needed was a lecture from the staff, or Keith for that matter, about proper bedside manner. She leaned across the blonde, forcing herself into Adela’s field of vision since the blonde had decided not to turn towards her. “You’re not dead, so stop acting like it.”
Adela saw the familiar face in her field of vision, and felt an irrational surge of hate. You're not dead, so stop acting like it, huh? He passive expression contorted to one of utter loathing. "I should be." she spat out, before her face relaxed, and the girl resolved to just stare into space instead of the ceiling, as Agnes couldn't even let her have that.
Agnes had kept away from visiting Adela, spending her time clearing up the room where Adela had existed (not live, nobody could live in a room like that for months) and reminding herself that Adela was living and breathing (bleeding and pale). When she finally did head to the infirmary to ask after her friend, Keith (bless his soul for working in the infirmary) informed her that the blonde had been ignoring everything and staring at nothing but the ceiling. She gritted her teeth, ignoring him and everyone else in the room as she stormed towards the bed where the younger princess laid. Glaring down at the blonde when she received no acknowledgement, Agnes shoved at her shoulder with more force than she was supposed to inflict on a patient. “Get up. Now.”
The blonde felt her arm move, and winced slightly as her stitches had pressure applied. the blonde didn't even spare Agnes a glance, though, just continuing to look at the patterns in the tile. I can't move, wise one. You're supposed to be monitored after having a transfusion and I'm not trusted enough to be left along in my room. Or at least that's what she wanted to stay, but her lips remained sealed.
Adela had been in the infirmary three days when Agnes came. The blonde had spent most of her time staring at the ceiling, ignoring her food and Keith (she supposed that she ought to feel bad for the second one, but really, he shouldn't care. he shouldn't have to be doing this. She should be dead.), which was what she was doing when a familiar brunette appeared. All that Addie saw was brown out of the corner of her eye, but it didn't take a genius to know. Neither Leopold nor Jacques had shown, and as Agnes had been the one to find her, of course she would come. The other girl shouldn't have had to waste her time, though. No one should have to waste their time on her, never again. She made no move to acknowledge Agnes, only blinking up and staring into space.
Ante had been spending more of his time in the infirmary, his last episode still haunted him. He liked playing guitar, so he thought there was no problem if he did it there.
The girl sang along louder, the words bursting out in her rough voice "Take me to church , I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies , I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife. Offer me that deathles death, Good God, let me give you my life." the girls voice held the hint of shining beauty it once was, but was mostly buried under the weariness. She managed to open her eyes enough to meet with the person playing. A boy, sitting on one of the infirmary beds a few rows down from her. While she normally would have smiled and laughed, telling the boy how good he was, the girl just locked eyes with him for a second, before looking away.
The blonde turned her head slightly, looking for the source of the music. You didn't get much of that in the infirmary, and it was nice, the song familiar. The girl's eyes fluttered, as she softly sang the lyrics to herself.
Beauty In The Breakdown {Addie & Aggie}
Agnes chuckled as she set aside the amazing cake from Adela into her fridge, reminding herself to finish up the cake as soon as possible or die trying. …or she could share, but where was the fun in that? That girl totally went out of her way for the gifts, building the (pretty cool) spider from scratch (she really wanted to play around with it already but Christmas was supposed to be “peaceful”), and the coffee, oh my god the coffee sounded like it could kill (she’ll probably feed it to Selene or something to test it out).
Adela… The greek paused before her large window, brows furrowing in concentration. When was the last time she had seen that too cheerful girl? Weeks? Months? Despite what… unhappiness she might have towards Adela, there was no denying that she worried about the young princess. Shrugging, she decided that maybe she could use the excuse of wanting to thank her for the awesome present and also to make sure that her own gift reached Adela to check on the blonde.
Patting herself on the back as she made her way down to Adela’s room, Agnes felt somewhat proud of herself for taking the first step this time. Time to become the bigger person, wouldn’t her father be proud. She stopped in front of the closed door, rehearsing what she was going to say in her mind thrice before knocking. “Adela? Adeeeeela, open up, it’s Agnes!”
Adela lay on her unmade bed, Mauri curled up to her side, while she stared at the ceiling. Not even her cats, the animals she loved and cared for like her children, were able to shake her fro her stupor, instead just curling to her sides during random parts of the day and keeping her the slightest bit warm. Now that she thought about days, how long had it been since she had left her bed? Two days? She needed to get up. She needed to get up. But no matter how hard she tried, her arms and legs felt like lead, and the young girl couldn't bring herself to arise from her position. Ever since she got the letter, it had all come crushing down on her. Just about everyone she loved was gone. Vad left, Cristian died, Jacques wanted nothing to do with her, she hadn't seen Leopold and Agnes in months, she was being forced into an arranged marriage, and now this. Her best friend, her Felicia, dead. That damn virus had taken someone else that she loved, and now she was truly alone.
Everything had just gotten worse and worse, and no matter how hard she tried, old habits died hard. She had promised herself that it would never get as bad as it had when Cristian had died. She promised her big brothers, but mostly Vad, if she was honest, that she would never fall so hard again, and she had tried. Oh dear god had she tried, but she was so weak. So useless. The young girl felt and looked like hell. She barely ate, only sipping water and munching on things like crackers, if she could bring herself up to it. Once cherubic cheeks and eyes that were full of life were sallow and dead. You could see just about every bone in her body, and her eyes had sunken in. Her skin was dry and peeling, her hair dry and thinning, skin covered in scabs and new wounds. She just couldn't bring herself to do anything but hate. Hate the world, hate herself. She didn't want to be here, she didn't want to be alone.
Adela closed her eyes and counted her breaths. One...two...three... four...five.... until she was able to literally drag herself out of bed, as if her body were a sack of potatoes, and clutch onto the nightstand. The girl took another shaky breath, and, keeping a hand on the wall, began to slowly creep towards the door. Thank god she had covered her window with curtains a long while ago; even her tiny lamp hurt her eyes, and she winced, holding on to the dresser and then the wall again as she stumbled towards her bathroom. She winced as her hip collided with the sink as she headed for the bathtub-shower. The girl slowly reached inside, turning on the water and, not bothering to take off her clothing, climbed inside.
The cold water hit her like a tidal wave, and she blearily looked down at her arms. Lord how se hated herself. She let out a scream and started rubbing at her arms, trying to get them off. I have to get these things off, these marks. I have to, I have to. All she could think of was this, and when it wasn't working, she felt herself crawl across the bathtub and reach for the blade sitting on top of the toilet. The girl didn't even think, she just cut over the marks, through the scabs and making new marks while at it. All she could see was red. The blonde let out another cry as she continued, her arm basically one gaping wound and the water turning crimson. There was so much red, so much... Addie felt her back give way, her upper body falling down like a piece of snapped rope, and her head hit the bottom of the tub. How strange, to feel so warm and so cold at the same time.

Leo,
First and foremost, Happy Birthday! I got you three copies of the Field Notes Expedition Edition. These things are water and tear-proof, and are perfect for all the adventures you plan on having, eh? I also made you a birthday cake. Chocolate, vanilla, cookies and cream, chocolate chip, and red velvet. I also managed to track down one of the original copies of Alice in Wonderland. This is the version from 1866, but Lewis Carroll was dissatisfied with how it turned out, so they were re-done. I also got you a Windsor Prose set. Two wooden styluses, eight nibs, one glass stylus, and two coloured inks.
I know our last couple of encounters ended badly, but I do truly miss you. Despite everything, you are still my friend, and even though I know it's really unlikely, I do hope we can fix everything. You're supposed to take me on a grand adventure, remember?
Merry Christmas Leo

Merry Christmas!
I thought I would 'contribute' to pranksters squared, so I got you some stuff. A shock pen and gun, toilet paper that won't tear no matter what the victim does, a remote control cockroach and a remote control spider (the spider I made myself, and has three different speeds, along with the ability to jump and climb). The spy glasses allow you to see out of them AND I modified the reflecting mechanism so you can change them to reflect behind you as well while still being able to see in front of you (the half and half may be a bit disorienting; I'm working on it). I also thought you would have a lot of fun with the rubber band shooter. Knowing how much you love your coffee, I got you a mug I thought you would like, and thre jumbo bags of Death Wish; it's the world's strongest coffee. I've never tried it myself, but just in case you need a boost now and then. The second package is a double chocolate cake with fudge, so be careful.
Again, Merry Christmas Agnes! I hope you have a great one!

Dear ex boyfriend
Dear Cristian,
Words can’t explain how much I miss you. How much I need you right now. Everything is falling apart, and I feel so much guilt upon y shoulders, and I don’t know what to do. The guilt is mostly from a confession I must make to you, something that truly shames me: I’ve fallen in love with someone else. I know that I promised to love you forever, and I still do, very much so, but I also love another. Not that it matters, as he doesn’t care for me the way I care for him, but I love him nonetheless. I feel so ashamed for breaking our promise, you have no idea. You were my first love, and I had hoped you would be my last, but the universe is cruel. Now that I think about it, I never got to say goodbye, did I? I suppose that’s what the purpose of this letter is, isn’t it? To tell you goodbye? Well I can’t. I still imagine I see you walking down the halls, or in the stables. I can hear your laugh from every broom closet and your hand in mine whenever I sneak onto the roof late at night. I’m not ready to tell you goodbye, Cris, I’m not. And if I’m not writing my goodbye, I really don’t know what this letter is for. Maybe it’s for me to tell you how much I miss you. Maybe it’s me trying to re-live the whirlwind that was our relationship. Maybe I’m trying to rid your ghost from my body. I don’t know what it is. I just feel young again when I write to you; as if I’m about to hide this in your saddle in the stables for you to find when you go riding in the morning. Which sounds ridiculous; I’m only eighteen, I shouldn’t be writing as if I’m a forty year old woman, yet here we are. I just suppose, in a nutshell, I’m trying to say that I miss you. I love you.
Yours,
Adela
