On days like these, where the sun no longer hid behind the clouds and the heat of the rays beat down and felt warm against your skin, Addison liked to take long walks with his aunt and uncle’s dog, Benny, and enjoy the blue skies while it lasted. Benny was a friendly, but rather large golden retriever that loved to run off leash, so when the streets were mostly empty, Addison let him. He ambled slowly down the road, Benny’s leash hung around his neck as the dog trotted a few feet ahead of him. Had he noticed the figure a little a ways down the road Addison would have grabbed Benny by the collar, but by the time he noticed the dog was well ahead of him, bounding down the sidewalk toward the person at the end of the road.
Addison whistled loudly as he picked up his speed from a stroll to a slight job. “Aw, c’mon, Benny! Let ‘em be!” He shouted, pulling the leash from off his shoulders. “Sorry ‘bout that,” he said through bated breath once he had caught up, “he’s real friendly, thinks everyone wants to pet ‘em though.” Addison said, pulling Benny away by the collar, “Ain’t that right, boy?”
walking along the street and hearing the breeze rustle the leaves of the trees was among her favorite things to do. it wasn’t often, however, that adelaide got to enjoy days like today, usually either cooped up inside the bookstore or busy with errands that needed to be ran. her feet stepped along the sidewalk, her face tilted up to allow the sunshine to beam down on her, all the cared she carried with her floating away. she loved her little bookstore, but sometimes the stress of continuing on her grandmother’s legacy was too much, and she needed to get out and enjoy the empty streets of beaumont to clear her head.
...or mostly empty. because at that moment she felt a furry creature scurrying around her legs, a giant smile spreading across ade’s face. ❝ well hey there little guy! ❞ her hand reaching out to pet the golden retriever, just as the dog’s owner ran up. ❝ it’s no problem, he wasn’t bothering me, ❞ her eye never once leaving the animal, squatting down to get closer. ❝ and in this case he’s right! not often you run into a cutie like this. ❞ running her fingers along the top of the dog’s head. ❝ what’s his name? ❞ looking up, finally making eye contact with the other.
