@adeptnightingale
oh right, tumblr is a thing which exists
i totally forgot
Heres one good reason.
A doctor assigned you a gender coercively at birth, and you just went along with it.
We had the strength to resist.
Sometimes at the cost of our lives.
You’re speaking as though you had a choice in the matter.
As...
This whole exchange is really bizarre all the way around, honestly.

trans men are weird like how do u sit down and think about yr gender and reach the conclusion that misogyny and exploiting women is The Gender For You
This is a stupid analysis of how trans men come to identify as men but its…
They didn’t say you “decide” or “choose” your gender, just that you “think about it and come to a conclusion”, which is how it worked for me.
You're equivocating.
trans men are weird like how do u sit down and think about yr gender and reach the conclusion that misogyny and exploiting women is The Gender For You
This is a stupid analysis of how trans men come to identify as men but its not like thats not they arent misogynists who exploit women also so maybe dont dismiss the post completely as if any criticism of maleness is unwarranted
Criticism of men is definitely warranted, but that entire post is fucking awful, and acting like anyone trans - man or woman - sat down and "decided" to be a gender is completely fucking dismissive. That men can be awful does not mean that you can say ~any awful thing you like~ and be immune to criticism
oh god what did i do
IT SUMMONS MAIL EVERYONE TRY IT
HOLY FUCKING COW.
OKAY IT’S TRUE
???
I THOUGHT IT WAS A JOKE
WHAT HOW
I’ve been wondering what message it sends for awhile now, apparently it’s random?
I mean... that first person has a point. I've always felt that cosplay is about honoring these characters we love, and by doing an inaccurate cosplay, it's insulting to those characters that so many people identify with. It's something to consider when choosing a cosplay: how would this character feel about you dressing up as them? Would they be flattered or insulted? How will other fans of that character feel? How WOULD Naruto feel about a black guy dressing up as him? Think about it.
Please, tell me more about how the feelings of fictional characters who don’t exist are so important that actual real-life people should be excluded from playing dress-up.
Where is the imagination if we don’t explore our options?
When an actor sees the character you’re trying to immulate through your cosplay and their face lights up, who cares if the vest is the wrong color or you’re not wearing a coat? I dressed up like Samuel Sullivan, my vest was wrong and I couldn’t wear the coat but I didn’t even get all the way to the table and Robert Knepper just started smiling, he loved it.
You’re not insulting the character by dressing up, my Badger costume this year is going to be a mess, but I’m going to make it work for me dammit because I have fun doing this! That’s all that matters, it’s the fun you have. Some people have to make changes to their costume because they’re allergic to some things, or they can’t find the clothes they need so they do whatever they can to make it work for them.
I bet you tell the people in wheelchairs they shouldn’t cosplay characters that can walk too.
"how would naruto feel"
lol come on, how do you type even the not-racist bits of that sentence without wanting to crawl into a hole?
I haven't felt this dysphoric and just hideous in weeks, months.
I just want to lay down and stop existing.
hey if youre cis and signal boosting that petition maybe look up various non-binary peoples objections to it first and maybe also consider the fact that the success of that petition doesnt sign non-binary genders into law or whatever, it just means that the american government has...
Their hatred of non-binary people is far less potent a weapon than their ability to pretend non-binary people don't exist.
I don't think this petition's likely to change anything, but being scared of those politicians and keeping silent is precisely what they want.
Ever heard of the expression “Don’t shoot the message”?
What does this even have to do with anything
All you’re doing is turning most of the accepting people on tumblr AGAINST the trans community.
In case you haven’t noticed, we reblog posts from cis people who have said...
"If you aren't from a country I've seen on the news as having problems, you aren't oppressed, sorry"
wow
Warning: if you receive an anon question asking what your fursona is, DO NOT ANSWER IT. "Whats ur fursona" is a common password recovery question and people can use that information to hack your accounts and steal credit card information! this has been a psa
Basically every conversation I had this past week.
Stop erasing sex worker history, stop whorephobia against strippers, stop pretending pole dancing isn't an art created and perfected by strippers that whorephobic non-sex workers are appropriating. Strippers are dancers, athletes, artists and sex workers.
This is a good message but a really stupid use of the word "appropriation." Strippers aren't some strange and faraway foreign culture with traditions exotic to our eyes, they're your family, friends, and neighbors. they are us
Sometimes when I don't have to worry about whether people from this tiny town will see me and make me pay for it, I am starting to actually feel confident and comfortable in my own skin.
“I’ve made a male half-orc barbarian,” you say proudly, putting your sheet down. Somebody else at the table makes a halfling thief – the same race and class you played last campaign. He’s basically Bilbo Baggins. Another has made a sexy, gay elf wizard, which everybody rolls their eyes at, since she never plays anything different. She squeals regularly and always tries to hook her character up with male NPCs, and puts on an annoying lisp when she makes him talk. Your last player makes a female human druid, who he repeatedly insists is ‘black,’ doesn’t like to wear clothing and has no sexual boundaries. It’s creepy, but he’s generally a good guy, so nobody says anything.
