Vinyl After Party @ Drop Dead Twice - Dublin, Ireland May 6, 2018

Such an amazing night with Martin and Eddie deejaying - Seemed like they had a good time too (and I genuinely hope they did!). They told us that they were supposed to play only for an hour, but somehow they played for three hour straight till we all got kicked out!

On the screen behind the deck, they were showing the beautiful portrait photos by the photographer Dean Chalkley, who was also on the scene. The last GIF was when the portrait of Paul Weller was on screen and Eddie was telling Martin about it… Well-known crush, or a little fanboy moment :)

They took turns playing each song, and sometimes those songs came as surprise to the other. Here’s the playlist that I come up with as far as I could at this moment… Not sure which ones were Edie’s or Martin’s picks. Sorry!

P.S. Regarding Eddie’s puppet on the third GIF - He fell off of the deck at some point, then Martin picked him up and cuddled like he does to a baby, put him gently on the table behind the deck, patted him several times before back to the deck. It was such a precious moment…

P.P.S. And yes, I did fist-bump with Martin :) Also at some point Eddie found me dancing and he extended his hand from the deck for a handshake, so did Martin!!! I was the happiest one on the floor. Literally.

That Night (in Japanese, sorry!)

例のアフターパーティのレポ。長文恐縮です。

20:30ごろ会場オープンで、エディとマーティンがやってきたのは23時少し前くらいかな？二人が前のDJの女性からデック(DJ卓)の説明を聞いて、たしかエディのナンバーから。MCは何喋ってたか忘れた………最初の曲に繋ぐ前からマーティンは踊ってました。エアドラムも頻繁に。たまに壁に片手をついてドリンク飲みながらフロアの様子を見たり。エディが老眼鏡かけてLP探してたり、二人で何やら話してたり、後ろのスクリーンに映る自分たちのジャケ写真見てたり。あとはとにかく二人で踊ったり歌ったり。終始ご機嫌で楽しそうでした。

ポールウェラーの写真(コートの襟立ててるやつ)が映ったのを見たエディがマーティンをつついて、「ウェラーだよ！」って言ってる風。マーティンは何かエディに言って笑ってた。

アドとフィストバンプしてくれたとき。

隣で踊ってた子(特にマーティンのファンではないclub goer……ちょっと問題児でマーティンに何度か身振りで怒られてた)がデックのマーティンに話しかけて握手してもらったついでに私の腕を掴んで「この子にも！」とマーティンに差し出したら、マーティンが手をグーにして前に出してきた！アドは握手な手だったので、グーにパーでアプローチしてしまいOhという顔してたら(その時点で手は接触したまま)、マーティンがグーのまま待っててくれてるので改めてグーでフィストバンプしました。マーティン真面目な顔して待っててくれて、頷いてサムアップしてくれました…………サンキューを込めてウインクで返しました……………

握手してくれたとき。

結構後半、どのナンバーだったか忘れたけど、アドがご機嫌で一緒に歌いながら踊ってたら、エディがマーティンにちょいちょいと合図しつつアド方面を指差してくる。思わず後ろ振り返って確認しても誰もおらず、どうやらアドのことらしいと二人を見たらエディが笑いながら手を差し出してくれたので握手、そのあとマーティンも握手を求めてくれた……ヒエーーーてなっててエディの手の感触を覚えてない……手がおっきいとだけ……対するマーティンの手はそんなに私とサイズ変わらず、でもちょっとひんやりしてました。マーティンが先に卓に戻って、一歩遅れてエディが戻るときにまだ目が合ってたので感謝の投げキッスしたらウインクを返してくれた！サンキューエディ！！

握手した後、これもどの曲だかまるで覚えちゃいないけど、マーティンのミキシングでカットインしてきた曲が好きなやつ(好きな曲たくさんかかりすぎてどれだか……)だったのであからさまに喜んでたら、まだヘッドホンつけて卓にいたマーティンがアドを指差してウインクしてくれました………

当初１時間で帰る予定だったマーティンがフルに３時間半いたわけだけど、１時間経過して主催の人が「タクシー来たよ、マーティン帰るからもうしばらく回しててくれる？」とエディに頼みに行ったら、「WHAT?! Martin’s not leaving!」と無視されたと。２時間経過して、PA(これPA卓の担当のことと思って聞いてたけど、Private Assistantのことだわ)の子が帰らなきゃいけなくなり(後述の関係者のうちの一人)エディにどうする？と聞きに行ったら「I’m gonna do PA myself!」とまだ締める気はなく(笑)。マーティンが帰ってお店のクローズ後もまだお酒飲んでまったりしてたそうです。これは主催者の人から翌日聞いた話。

とにかくフロアの雰囲気がよくて、年齢層も様々。モッズファッションの人が８割くらい。

昼間のパネルでマーティンが「自分の仲間(my tribe)はすぐにわかる」って言ってたんだけど、フロアにお仲間たちが大勢いるってのがわかったのもご機嫌の理由かな。

たまにスタッフの目を盗んでセルフィとかを求めに来る人たちがいてあまり愉快ではなさそうな(それでもちゃんと応じる)瞬間もあったんだけど、フロアの大半が有名人目当てじゃなく自分たちのプレイリストを純粋に楽しんでる人たちだったというのが、ご機嫌かつ長時間回してくれた理由でもあったのかなとも思います。当初予定されてたらしいEBTGのトレイシーソーンが来なかったというのも大きいけど！

その中でアドが一瞬だけでも二人に認識してもらえたのは、ずっと目の前でアホみたいに楽しそうに(本当に心の底から100%楽しかった！)騒いでたのもあるかもだけど、とにかく彼らの選曲がアドの音楽心のど真ん中だったのが伝わったからだといいなと思いました……古いナンバーは周りのモッズに合わせて見様見真似でステップを踏み(めっちゃふくらはぎと膝に来る)、ラテンは中途半端なサルサステップ(意外とやってる人いなかった、ハコの常連的に範疇外？)、ジャミロとかのアシッド系はそれなりに、歌詞まで染み付いてるやつは一緒に歌って、ほんとに３時間半があっという間だった………まじで楽しかった…………

二人ともいろんな曲で盛り上がってたけど、特にAin’t No Mountain High Enoughの息の合った盛り上がりっぷりがよかった！振りだってなぜかぴったり合ってるし、手拍子も裏拍から変わるとこ(Keep me from getting to you babeのKeep meに合わせてる)も揃ってて、いつも二人で回すときにかける定番なのかなという感じでした。

Vinylイベントの関係者らしき女性が二人来てて(ひょっとしたら一人はエディのPAなのかもしれない)、曲の趣味が違うのかなかなか踊らないその子たちがのってくると、エディとマーティンがたびたびその子たちを指差したり煽ったりしててかわいかった(なので自分が指さされたときに余計に半信半疑だった、関係者にしか絡まないと思ってたから)。

スペインから来たという女の子二人組がきっとマーティンのファンだった。終わったときには帰ってたから詳しく話すチャンスがなかったんだけど。マーティンたちが来る前はそれこそラテンステップですごく踊ってたのに、マーティンが来たら釘付け！気持ちめっちゃわかる！そしてその視線がtells everything！！ゆっくり話したかったな。

卓から落ちたエディのパペットを赤ちゃん抱っこ、可愛かった……おーよしよしって言ってたよきっと……抱き上げて、横抱きにしてあやしながらOh what happened to you don’t cry baby good boyみたいな。後ろのテーブルに置いてポンポンしてたね。

二人ともとにかく飲んでたな。マーティンはギネスとジンライムっぽいやつかウイスキーっぽいやつをかわりばんこ。たまにお水。

会場がうるさいので話すときは耳元で叫ぶのが基本だけど、エディとマーティンがくっついて話してる時の身長差がすごかったです……

あとマーティン汗びっしょり。フロアにいた全員がそうだったけど！

昼間のパネルのインタビュアーもめっちゃ踊ってたし、マーティンたちの前に回してた女性DJもめっちゃ踊ってた。ツイギーみたいなピクシーカットかわいかったな！

たまに音飛びするときがあって、その度にマーティンが眉を顰めて「？」て顔をするのが面白かった。こっちも「あれ？」てなってるから余計に。後半機材の調子が悪くて、何度かトラック途中で消えることも。会場のブーイングを笑いながら黙らせて次のトラック流し始めるマーティンとか、エディのターンで同じことが起こったときにはエディが会場のせいにしたりしてたな。

締め前のMCのはずが、エディ「I think they’re gonna kick us out in a minute, however, we reckon, we’ve done a calculation, there’s time for four more tunes」でそこからまたたぶん15分近く続く(笑)。

ちなみに最後の方は機材グダグダで、エディのラストナンバー(忘れた、なんだったかな……)も途中で消えてしまったので(that was supposed to be our last tune!て言ってた気がする)、マーティン選曲の何かで締めてた……これもなんだったか。要確認。Connectedもこの流れでマーティンが急遽出してきた曲だったと思う、ラストではなかったはずだけど。

またいつかDJマーティンに出会えるといいな！長文お付き合いいただきありがとうございました……😇😇😇

Let me get this straight, Telegraph (or Mr. Specific-Writer)

So, apparently, this Telegraph headline was wrong according to Martin himself. Now the same writer is creating another “pathetic” headline using what he got from Benedict.

Ok then, this headline, “Benedict Cumberbatch on Martin Freeman’s ‘pathetic’ Sherlock remarks.” Just read where and how BC used the word ‘pathetic’... I just wonder what made him come up with this title other than creating another click bait.

So, what I noticed from these 2 publications was something like this. What he, Mr. Specific-Writer, writes sound a bit manipulative where he tells HIS thoughts, not from what he actually hears from said interviewees.

No one doubt that they get the immense amount of pressure and anticipations from fans. But let’s not take it wrong, Martin has absolute rights to FEEL the pressure and express his thoughts. No doubt. What I’m seeing wrong here is the media intentionally using bits of what he implicated and trying to abuse the fandom, just to draw more attention and to earn more clicks.

FYI: Martin making himself clear that he did not say those words used in the publication.
