"Bruh. I missed the whickity-wack out of you."
"Dun't front wif me boi, I've been gettin' paid and gettin' laid."
"âHey, hey. Are you okay? I â Adonis.â
"Dat me."
"I thought you were dead!"
Adonis ran his hands over the leather bound seats spastically arranged around the dining room, a child's work passing in his mind as his eyes rested on the drink in front of him, whiskey stolen from the hotel back on Venus. He exhaled slowly, it's smooth burn lingering on his tongue as his mind scrambled over the strangling announcement.
His brother couldn't be gone - no after all of this.
neutral good
Neutral Good is known as the âBenefactorâ alignment. A Neutral Good character is guided by his conscience and typically acts altruistically, without regard for or against Lawful precepts such as rules or tradition. A Neutral Good character has no problems with co-operating with lawful officials, but does not feel beholden to them. In the event that doing the right thing requires the bending or breaking of rules, they do not suffer the same inner conflict that a Lawful Good character would. Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order. Neutral good can be a dangerous alignment because it advances mediocrity by limiting the actions of the truly capable.

Distracted by the endless wonder of being completely engulfed in white, he almost missed Adonis coming towards him â nearly tripping over a particularly large clumping of ice, Celeste stumbled â awkwardly waving at the other.
Adonis let a smile bloom on his lips, melting away a pensive scowl he seemed to uphold effortlessly. He dragged his feet forward through the snow, stooping down to pick up a small clump of it, the ice leaving his fingers red as it melted away. He approached the boy calmly, listening carefully to the world around them everything was so still, especially after the mad rush of the populated areas.
It wasnât that he hadnât seen snow before. But, littered across absolutely everything, Celeste was bundled head-to-toe â playing around in the wasteland of white.
He knew this wasnât the place to do something so careless, but he needed something to distract him â  he needed something that didnât result in death, just for once.
Adonis dragged his feet through the icy powder, arms bundled in thick layers of wool to defend him from the snarling winds. He had never been this far from the sun before, this far from natural light. There was a bite to the planet, a resistance about it that seemed to retract from an outsiders touch.Â
His eyes scanned the area, eyes landing on the boy in front of him, Celeste. He sheepishly waved at the raven haired boy, words caught in his throat under a net of resistance. He didn't fight it, he had lost the energy.

Adonis drew in a trembling breath, long shadows crossing the damp prison walls. He wanted light - needed light, at least something differentiating from the smoldering end of cigarette diminishing in a corner. His own career as a smoker had been embarrassingly short lived, yet the smell was almost comforting to him after the exposure at starbound.Â
His fingers traced over the exposed wires poking our from under a broken plate in the floor, mind desperate for something he could use - something he could busy his mind with.
There was nothing.
He couldn't kill, couldn't fight, couldn't do anything that could keep him alive in a competition; adventure had never registered to be a death wish. Echoing footsteps interrupted his thoughts, disturbing the constant stream of doubts as his eyes wandered up to face the figure infront of him.
Iâve never seen this one! (from Lukeâs twitter)
Sometimes I think everyone is just pretending to be brave, and none of us really are. Maybe pretending is how you get brave.

When he spoke, Celeste had to swallow down the surprise. Not only did he not expect it â obviously, that is â but his voice was so much softer than when he was drunk, blabbering on about whatever. Almost immediately, Celeste was smiling up at the boy, choking back the emotion flooding through his speech.
"ââ-I think we all feel pensive right about now. Do you â would you want someone to think with? If not, itâs fine â company sometimes helps me, you know?"
Adonis simply nodded, under no viable impression of what to do with a cigarette once you're done with it. carefully twirling it between his fingers to extinguish the small flame, shoving it back into the box in which it came. He - even when he was able to talk - hated his voice, however, it seemed that when the omnipresent shiver of fear quivered through his spine, the words seemed available.Â
Cecil wanted to go back to his room, but his legs felt too heavy on itâs own. Instead of forcing his body to pump more adrenaline, the boy simply took a seat on the staircase, rubbing the heel of his palm against his eyes to rub away the traces of the dream they just witnessed. A smell of smoke awoke him from his semi drowsy state. Peering over his shoulder, he noted the man heâd seen prior. Don, was it? Adonis, yes. The one with the strange name. "I didnât know a smart guy like you would do a thing so unhealthy," Cecil commented, not bothering to keep his voice low for the others still sleeping, "Trying to calm your nerves?"
Adonis shrugged - was he under any agreement to share the inner workings of his mind with anyone here? He inhaled slowly, obviously unexperienced in the gradual shadows of smoke looming in the air for a moment before dissipating in an exacerbated breath. A calm washed over his body, the nicotine easily targeting the nerves quelling deep in the pit of his stomach.
He shrugged of the man's voice, exhaling as it he knew what he was doing, "Everyone has their vices," he mumbled in a small voice, cheeks red with embarrassment at the chatter of his own voice.Â
I was within and without, simultaneously enchanted and repelled by the inexhaustible variety of life.
F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby (via insanity-and-vanity)
Honestly, he was looking for his brother â something he did relatively often nowadays, he was following the wafting scent of smoke. It was an easy way to find Cecil in a stressful situation; redefining the ideal of a smoke-signal as a whole.
But, as he rounded the corner, he couldnât help but be surprised with who he found smoking away â surprised, and absolutely torn apart.Â
"Adonis â-? Hey, are you okay? You â- well, you obviously donât smoke regularly.â
He experienced a notion of retreat at the sight of Celeste, rounding the corner with a sense of purpose, one that Adonis couldn't define for himself. The air sang of smoke, a slight misunderstanding as why the facility seemingly had not a single smoke detector, not that he was complaining as he meandered his way through a stolen cigarette.Â
"Pensive," he replied in an airy voice, not much to accompany, giving it an indistinguishably raw meaning.
Meek at best, the only word he could muster was to describe the process of thinking.
Aisla had been wandering the hallways aimlessly, as if searching for answers somewhere. Thisâ this wasnât what she thought it was going to be. Yes, god, she wanted to help people - but this was more than she could stomach. What were they going to do..? They were just a few pinned against the masses.Â
Turning a corner, Aislaâs eyes glanced up at the smell of smoke. She eyed the boy blankly before walking quickly towards him and snatching it from his fingers.Â
"These kill you.â Her whole world was teetering on the edge of the knife and still she found herself caring more about the worlds of others.
Adonis raised an eyebrow at the blonde, cigarette propped in between his lips as if to test her tone. He took a short inhale, the unfamiliar burn infecting his lungs, slowly turning away, careful to not blow it in her face.Â
'Everything kills you,' he thought in response, though merely shaking his head at the notion of it, words lost to his sober tongue. He had no intention of stopping, nor did he had any intention of continuing, his mind simply lay in perpetual movement, a mechanical motion caught in a loop.
He wasn't exactly sure what he was feeling, whether it been fear, anger, confusion, or perhaps an assortment of them all, however defining his own emotions had always been a feeble venture at best, and he had no intention of attempting to figure them out today.Â
