高野 文子 - 黄色い本 (アフタヌーンKCデラックス) "A young girl identifies with the protagonist of a novel and immerses herself in a book she borrowed from the library. This collection includes three stories, including the title story, based on the classic "The Thibaults." This exceptional collection offers a rich variety of stories, skimming the truth and the cream of life's cream, including "Mayonnaise," a small commotion unfolding in a corner of the company that even the people involved don't know whether it's love or sexual harassment, and "No. 2 No. 6," a thrilling story about a volunteer who encounters a conflict at his assigned workplace. Enjoy these four stories by a masterful author, perfectly balanced between humor and a cool sense of distance."

"Marina Shirakawa (白川まり奈) was born in 1940 in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. She studied at Musashino University of Fine Arts, but left her studies to pursue a professional career in illustration and manga. Her career spanned the 1960s to 1980s, with collaborations with publishers such as Akebono Shuppan and Hibari Shobō, where she published stories of horror, science fiction, and supernatural themes.
A cult figure within the darker, more experimental side of Japanese manga, Shirakawa combined elements of Japanese folklore—especially yōkai and rural legends—with modern imagery from science fiction, UFOs, and biological mutation. Among her best-known works are Yōkai Emmonogatari and UFO Mushroom Invasion, where her meticulous linework and unsettling atmospheres evoke both the aesthetics of classic horror manga and a poetic sensibility akin to surrealism."
