Not to gatekeep, but Barbie has been treated the same way as Taylor Swift throughout modern history and its shocking and a little annoying to see everyone who hated on her for years say that the Barbie movie is going to change them. I spent years hearing people talk about how Barbie was the opposite of feminism. It didnt matter how much Barbie pushed the "you can be anything" motto or how inspirational the dolls were, it all came back to a thin waist and her pink clothes. Anything that is innately feminine or enjoyed by girls is hated in our society. And its shocking to see people swear by their hatred of enjoying feminine things like Barbie or Taylor Swift, then turn around as soon as its popular again and say "I have always been a fan" or "I learned my lesson". I am happy to see your growth, but hating women and femininity is a continuous fad and we will see the cycles of hatred no matter how much this Barbie movie "heals" them.
