I did not send the above ask to my mutual, nor do I have a Twitter. I don’t know why someone is doing this in my name, but this is not me.

We are coming together to help bring urgently needed support to Seren also known by many friends as "Babygirl"

Seren is a volunteer healthcare worker in NE Syria.

Under the threat of war and with incredibly limited public infrastructure, access to transgender healthcare and surgery is non-existent. She is currently experiencing pain that requires surgery to alleviate. There are also additional needed surgeries that would offer her a lot more mobility and comfort.

As a friend of many years, I've watched her fill various roles, always asking what more we could have as a community and being willing to follow that inquiry with action. Through running a community art space out of the garden shed at her house, in her work fighting for lands on turtle island, and now as a medic in NE Syria---Seren lights up being able to strengthen her heart by strengthening the collective. For several years, Seren has committed herself to purpose driven work, often wanting little in return. However now she is in need of support.

If you have the means to donate or share this fundraiser the help and support mean a lot.

Police may also feign kettles in order to cause a protest to disperse.

Protests that move quickly are harder to kettle (but are easier to split up as people get left behind). Something important to note is that kettles are used by police to gather intelligence. Police may tell you that you will be allowed to leave if you provide your name and your address, if you give information about other protestors etc. Police can and will lie to you, do not trust them. Never talk to cops. Being trapped in a kettle is stressful. Police may decide to arrest a few of you or all of you. Their goal is to gather information and to demoralize you. They might threaten or harass you. Your goal should be to remain calm and to help the people around you remain calm. Remember if nobody talks, everyone walks.

What’s worse is that LA spent nearly 2/3 of COVID response funds on police and fire. $0 went to housing or shelter. Police create homelessness in so many ways, here is yet another example of limited funds being spent on more police instead of actual recovery efforts.
