The mountainous ha giang region of the northern Vietnam didn’t fail to distract me. Besides winding roads, unpredictable weather and chilling edges, the constant temptation to look sideways didn’t make this learning-how-to-ride-a-motorcycle an easy task. I did come back alive after all, and not with empty hands. At times, the distractions were too entertaining, and a photo had to be taken. When embarking on one of those tourist-only boats, I was dubious, if not apprehensive. It turns out that being part of such organised tours is one of the very few ways of seeing the beautiful karst formation of Cat Ba and Halong Bay. Occupying the upper deck’s sun loungers for a couple of hours wasn’t so bad after all. We arrived to the Quiraing during the sunset. The golden hour -nearly gone, our tent- still in the boot. With no time left, trekking up this amazing landslip of the Isle of Skye wasn’t an option. Nor missing the view from the other side. Once again, my Mavic air proved itself to be a useful toy. With the sport mode activated, it sailed away to capture the last sun rays of the day.
