Boothill sighed as he slipped his pistol back into the holster. These simulated universe fights sure weren't getting any easier, but ain't nothing to it; he was built for this sort of thing.
Yet despite these many runs, some of these occurrences didn't look any less uncanny.. 'specially this clown-lookin' face thing staring him straight in the eyes right now.
"Ay, leader!" Boothill spun around, motioning to Caelus step forward. "Come and take yer pick!"
Caelus nodded and made his way to the front, Aventurine and Argenti just behind him. "Let's see," he mumbled, going over the virtual screen in front of the group, "four hundred cosmic fragments or.. a four star curio? Weird, I didn't know four star curios existed..."
"Because it's obviously a trick," Aventurine scoffed from behind the rest of them. "I mean, just look at it. The word 'curio' is misspelled."
The group took another look at Aventurine's mention. Lo and behold, what should have been 'curio' was actually spelled 'cuiro'.
"Nice catch," Caelus nodded at the blond.
"Hmm, this in tandem with our smiley friend here," Argenti said, eyeing the clown mask on the screen, "points to this being a well-laid trap. The most logical option to victory would be to accept the fragments."
"I concur," spoke Aventurine. "This is what? Our fourth run through in a row? Anything to avoid drawing out this whole process would be highly appreciated."
"How about you, Boothill?"
Boothill looked down at the trailblazer peering up at him. Now, Boothill knew well in his head that Argenti and the gambler were both right; choosing the 'cuiro' would most likely result in a rather unpleasurable experience, yet the little glint of excitement in Caelus' eyes tugged away at Boothill's ability to rationally process the potential consequences of walking into an obvious trap.. and perhaps, he felt the same way.
Surely a little fun to spice things up would be okay.
"Let's go with the curio! Cuiro? Heck, whatever it is," Boothill finally answered, grinning as Caelus' eyes lit up in front of him.
"Ugh, come on, seriously?"
"My beautiful cowboy, I do implore that you think things through-"
"I do think Boothill should get the final say," Caelus interrupted, hands on his hips. "He did deal the final blow, after all."
Aventurine scoffed dramatically. "You wanted to choose the curio, didn't you?"
"Anyway," Caelus ignored the blond and faced Boothill, "take your pick."
And that's exactly what he did. Reaching out with one arm, Boothill tapped the 'cuiro' option on the screen in front of the group, the jester mask's cutout eyes glowing red as the screen dissipated before them. In its place was a silver ring, with the description:
"Ring of Perception: Grants the wearer heightened detection of the five senses."
"Increases senses? So like.. taste and stuff?" Boothill scoffed, yet still slipping the ring on. "Well, that ain't very helpful."
"Do you feel any different?" Caelus asked him.
And now that he thought about it, Caelus' voice just now did seem a bit.. clearer? And looking between the three, the finer details of Aventurine's and Argenti's apprel became more apparent; each thread of expertly woven together for Aventurine's coat were their own individual being and frankly, Argenti's armor was too bright to look at.
"Yeah.. 'spose I do," Boothill murmured, his own voice suddenly ringing in his ears. "Huh, bit weird, actually. Seeing and hearing things are.. off."
"How peculiar," Aventurine mumbled, peering at Boothill, before shifting focus to Caelus. "Do we have any food? Let's force him to eat something."
"Excuse me?"
"What? Might as well make the most of it while we're here."
"I ain't your fudgin' science experiment!" Boothill lashed, shaking his head as the gambler shrugged his shoulders. "Forkin' shirtbag."
"Well, we don't have snacks anyway," Caelus interjected quickly. "But the curio doesn't seem to be a concern, so let's just move on."
"Hmmm, my friends, one moment." Boothill perked his head at the sound of Argenti's voice; the knight had been strangely quiet this whole time.
"What's on yer mind?"
"A thought just occurred to me," Argenti's spoke, slipping off one of his gauntlets, "but may I have your hand?"
"Huh?" Boothill glanced at Argenti's own offered to him. "What're you on right now?"
"Please, my dear cowboy," Argenti gestured to him, "indulge me in my curiosities."
"Sure, I 'spose." He wasn't sure what Argenti was getting at, but followed through anyway, sticking his arm out and-
Oh.
Something was.. off. Boothill could feel Argenti's hand, like actually feel his skin. The receptors throughout his body could register the touch of external stimuli, but never actually feel what he wanted. But now, he could feel the warmth from Argenti's hands, he could feel the soft skin against his own hand,he could feel the way how Argenti intertwined his fingers.
It wasn't bad, just weird.. and maybe nostalgic.
"Forkin' freaky," Boothill breathed, gently squeezing Argenti's hand in his own.
Argenti chuckled, his hand relaxing in Boothill's hold. "Not so bad, is it?"
"Yeah.."
"So wait," Aventurine piped in, "if Mr. Boothill here is able to feel sensation again, then I wonder.."
And had he not been perplexed by Argenti's touch, perhaps Boothill would have been more aware of the gambler weaving his way behind the group and poising himself just behind the cowboy.
"AhaHEY-!"
Sensations akin to electric shock shot through his body, stimulating his brain in unfamiliar fashion. Boothill whipped around to see the blond standing behind him, the signature smirk slowly crossing his face.
"H-Hey! W-What'd you do just now?!"
"Isn't it obvious, Mr. Boothill?" Aventurine motioned with his hand. "You, sir, are ticklish. At least, for now."
Boothill's eyes widened; the thought had never even crossed his mind.
But it had clearly crossed Aventurine's. "Which means.." the blond wiggled his fingers in Boothill's direction.
"Hey, no, don't even think about it!" This puny gambler had never looked so threatening.
"Mr. Trailblazer, if you would, please."
"Wha-!" Boothill nearly stumbled over, Caelus' weight clinging to him in a hug as his fingers dug into as much as they could of Boothill's metallic body. "Nohoho! Whahahat is this?!"
"A once in a lifetime opportunity," Aventurine sneered, hands squeezing into Boothill's sides, the ticklish sensations coursing through his body enough to force the cowboy to his knees. "Tell me, Mr. Boothill, does it tickle here? Or how about here?"
Unmanly shriekds, ones Boothill never knew he was capable of, passed through his mouth, a different sound for each spot Aventurine explored. Rigid pokes to his "ribcage", a quick sneak to his underarm, Caelus' hands at his stomach, were all quickly overriding his brain, his head filled with heavy laughter.
"S-Stahahahap! I'll fohohorkin' kihihill you!" though his threat came out more as a plea.
"Mr. Knight of Beauty, don't just stand there," Aventurine tempted. "Aren't you curious as well?"
"I do say," Argenti started, kneeling next to the laughing cowboy, "our cowboy does have quite the precious laugh. Perhaps, just this once."
every time i’m having a bad day i remember that one time where it was casually mentioned that obi-wan truly knew that the jedi code was a shield that he used both purposefully and accidentally to suppress all of his emotions and that makes my day even worse

four years into his solitude on tatooine, still thinking about why anakin fell & betrayed him, obi-wan should wake up incandescently angry about palpatine grooming his padawan for a decade. forcing his way into the temple and anakin's life as a young apprentice. whispering poison in his ear for so very long until anakin was miserable and confused and full of rage he didn't know what to do with.
obi-wan should fully realise this, wake the fuck up in his cave, grab his lightsaber, and just....storm the imperial capital and kill the emperor without hesitation. so high on his anger that he doesn't hear a single word of sheev's attempts at goading him. doesn't pause to fret about all the security he has to cut down to get there. doesn't hesitate a single step on his march into the jaws of would be death.
he just snaps and kills palpatine at the height of his power like it's easy.
and then idk vader & he both are going to have break downs once it's done. possibly the second they see each other
