This hummingbird was coming to my yard even when there wasn't a hummingbird feeder. This little bird is the reason I had to get one. It literally hovered for about 30 seconds, 6 inches away from my face staring me down. I think it was demanding to be fed as it tried to get into my red water bottle. I can understand how the bird would be confused since it was the right color. To be clear, we are friends now. It was a little intimidating for awhile there. 😂 🐦 ⠀ ⠀ I'd like to think it's my grandpa's way of saying hello as he loved hummingbirds. Even now that it's winter, I get multiple hummingbirds a day. I keep their sugar water fresh, making up my own batches using raw sugar. If I forget to bring it in at night and the liquid freezes, there's one that will sit on the post waiting for it to thaw.
