AJ in all of her worn out and weathered glory at Snow Valley in Big Bear, California. Couple seasons ago I got a nice concussion in the terrain park. I don't really remember most of that day, but everyone else seems to! Anyway, even though Mt High in Wrightwood seems to be the more popular slope Snow Valley has never let me down. So, here's to all the snowboarders out there! May your board stay sharp and may you landings be true. Cheers!

This interesting locale is the Sawtooth Canyon campground in the Barstow/Apple Valley area of California's high desert. To avid rock climbers it is known as New Jack City. These formations are wildly popular with SoCal climbers who can be seen year round. With scorching temperatures in the summer and bitter freezing nights in the winter there is little time to comfortably enjoy the terrestrial rock formations. However, it is worth it to the outdoor enthusiast, and the night sky there is absolutely breathtaking. This particular photo was taken the first week of January 2013. It took all of my backpacking and outdoors wisdom and a damn good sleeping bag to stay comfortable in the freezing temperatures.

A couple shots in the UFC gym in Corona, CA. It's got some standard workout equipment, but also lots of unorthodox machines--like rope pulleys and other stuff--that make you hurt in places you didn't know you had. And then there are the classes! Things like traditional Jiu-Jitsu, no gi Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Boxing (the list goes on and on!) are all available to help you push your limits. I took the no gi Jiu-Jitsu class and let me tell you it was a lot of fun. Even practiced a couple Judo throws in their Octogan. Felt pretty cool to see what the pros see.

This is the magnificent Ryan Campground in Joshua Tree National park. In the distance is Headstone Rock. Don't underestimate its size. That tall boulder balancing on top of that formation is huge and offers some exciting rock climbing!

The first big climbing trip of the season has come and passed. AJ ventured out to Joshua Tree National Park. There was so much climbing to be done. More than could be done in one stay. Some of the places AJ visited were Hall of Horrors, Ryan Campground, and Real Hidden Valley.

AJ at her first outdoor climbing experience at Lake Perris State Recreation Area. Here at Big Rock there are about a dozen sport routes (and a few multi-pitch routes) just a stone's throw from each other. The route pictured is The Trough, which is about 100ft high. This is the first climbing trip that AJ has been brought along on and hopefully she will make it to many more in the future.
