What an Adventure
Started my day by waking up at 7:30; I think this has been the earliest I have waken up while being in Kenya. Well Jessica and I were heading to Narok to buy weave to get our hair braided. We were in a Taxi with a total of 10 people and “3 LIVE CHICKENS.” Yes, Three live Chickens I bet you weren’t expecting that. It was the most hilarious thing I have ever seen while being here in Narok, Kenya. Luckily the man who bought the chickens was the first one to get off the Taxi with his three chickens so that leaves 9 people and no chickens in the Taxi just in case you were wondering.
Before heading back to Lulunga were we would be getting our hair done Jessica and I decided to stop at our favorite restaurant and since we are Americanized we decided to take it to go. While waiting for our food flies were just all over us; like always. Well our food finally came and like I mentioned before we were expecting a “to go box” with a a spoon and fork. Well we were completely wrong. Instead of a to go box our rice, chicken and vegetables were all put in a different bag. Even though you are highly aware of your surroundings and what to expect when traveling to another country there are a few things like this one which flies by and receive a totally different thing you dislike yourself. Since you study, and know what to expect there are things that we just tend to forget. The food was still delicious even when it’s not in a to go box. You just start using your thinking cap.
Time to get our hair done, well once again I have decided to get braids. Like I mentioned to a friend of mine “I need to get braids because I live with a Kenyan family and I’m the only Hispanic here so when my hair falls off the family knows who it belongs to.” LOL While getting my hair done I was able to see children, around 3 o’clock the children get off school. I started playing “High Five” with them and then I took out my camera to take pictures of them. They had the cutest laughs, Well there was this one adorable girl who I fell in love with (unfortunately I didn’t get her name. Well we were playing then she left outside to play and I couldn’t go because I was getting my hair done. While she was outside, she fell and started crying of course, so her mother brought her back to the salon and I extended my arms to the little adorable baby and she actually came to me and I just grabbed her told her “It’s okay” and instantly she stopped crying. I might say that I do not want children, but after this experience my mindset has changed. A while later, I decided to put her down to find out that she peed on me. Well this was something I was not expecting, but after all I had a blast with Ruth, Glory, Rasha, Adrian, Ryan, Ivvin, Naomi and the child who peed on me.
This picture was taken before she peed on me; don’t mind the lady braiding my hair!
