@adzukiins
they should take that charlie kirk statue and turn it into a water fountain that shoots water out of his neck hole
Hello white tumblr user. In front of you is a post made by a Black person about their experiences with racism in a fandom you are a part of. Your challenge is to read the entire post without telling them they're making things up or making a big deal out of nothing. You also may not tell them they're wrong to tell people how to enjoy media or that they should focus on real world issues instead. If you fail this challenge the case of live hornets I have implanted in your sternum will unlock, allowing the hornets to sting your insides until you succumb to the venom. You have 60 seconds. Good luck.
does anyone else have parents who suck in objectively funny ways
drawing it made me realize this one might be a unique experience
im going through some bullshit someones homestuck fankid would experience
hello allo person in a fandom. let’s play a game. in front of you are two characters. your challenge is to okay and you’ve already started shipping them. well the crusher machine is going to activate now goodbye.
personally I'm annoyed by the socioeconomic conditions that made words like "unalive" necessary but simultaneously impressed by the linguistic adaptations young people have made to continue talking about important things while subject to those conditions and I think if you can't hold both of those thoughts in your head you might just be old man yelling at cloud
Two of my niblings (10 and 7) self-censor like this in real life during actual conversations. I tried briefly to explain to the 10-year-old that they didn't have to do that in real life after they said "unalive" out loud in casual conversation, and they just said they preferred to. On the one hand, I'm sad to see them unconsciously and fully without awareness succumbing to the panopticon. On the other... this post.
it's not unprecedented in the evolution of languages to see euphemisms adopted as synonyms or even supplanting earlier terms. lots of people say "passed away" even in situations where there would be no particular social cost to saying "died".
for a particularly strong version of this kind of replacement: the word "bear" comes from a proto-Germanic word meaning "brown one" because there was a taboo against saying the animal's actual name. the taboo is gone but it was so strong in the past that we have no record of what the proto-Germanic word for "bear" even was.
maybe in 300 years the word "die" will be archaic and kids will dig it out of an etymology textbook and start using it because "unalive" is getting censored.
the phrase really should be "eat your cake and have it too" im with the unabomber on this one
anyway. once more. if you are hungry all the time no matter how much you eat, that is indicative of a medical problem and you need to tell a doctor and do whatever you need to get tested for celiac. probably also other things, there are other possible causes, celiac is just the one i'm intimately familiar with. but it's not a personal failing. you deserve to know what's happening in your body. you deserve to feel full.
get tested for vitamin deficiencies.
This is what I meant by how a lot of white supremacy is projection.
"I feel like my penis/my Manhood as a symbol is smaller than Black man's" becomes "Black men have oversized penises and are sexually insatiable beasts."
"I am sexually attracted to, fetishizing, and feel entitled to Black women's bodies" becomes "well she's asking for it, look at how she looks, Black women are always more openly sexual."
"I am afraid of approaching Black men" becomes "Black men are a threat."
"I am afraid of approaching Black women" becomes "Black women are always angry."
"I am not smart enough/not qualifed enough/can't beat my white counterparts professionally" becomes "DEI and affirmative action are letting those Blacks steal my position in school/jobs!"
Your own fears and insecurities about yourself somehow become a reflection of my humanity, when it had nothing to do with anything. And somehow enough people think that and now it's systemic instead of the made up nonsense it always was. Ijeoma Oluo called it mediocrity, James Baldwin called racism the white man's problem, and they remain correct.
A doll youtuber I watch has made a video about the history of Polly Pocket, and she's describing the plots of the dvd specials, one of which features an elderly woman named Ms. Throckmorton, and my reaction was
Beatrice: Ohhhh...Battlerrrr....did you hear that Witches have figured out how to turn a sphere inside out...?
Battler: What's the big deal, then...? Isn't that easy? Just poke a hole through it!
Beatrice: But the point of it is to do it magically...! Using a sphere that cannot be pierced, creased or bent sharply.... but can pass through itself...!
Beatrice: If you say so, then try it, Battler!
Battler: Okay... here goes... I'll just pull the two halfs through eachother!
Beatrice: Watch out, Ushiromiya Battleeeer....! You're pinching it infinitely tight....!
Battler: Uwooooo! It's useless....! It's all useless....It is impossible to turn a sphere inside out...!!
Beatrice: Ohhhh...really...?
Battler: Is this it...a....sphere turning inside out...!? What the fuck!?
Beatrice: KYAHAHAHAHAHAHA....! I DID IT WITH MAGIC....! AHAHAHAHAHA AHAHAHAH *CACKLE*CACKLE*CACKLE*
"Gretel": ...Really? After being told it's magic once, you're not even going to try to think? It's like you don't even want to return home...
Battler: But, but... but! I really couldn't follow it at all! It's useless, it can't be anything but magic!
"Gretel": Pathetic... falling for her just because she's dazzling you with words? If it's too hard to follow, simplify the problem...
[OST: Core]
Battler: A... a circle?
"Gretel": That's right, a circle. It's a 2D simplification of her 3D "trick"... so it should be much simpler to explain, right? Think it's possible to flip it around?
Battler: ...Ggh! How should I know!? And even if it is... how the hell would that prove it's possible in 3D!?
"Gretel": Hm... yeah, maybe it won't. But... don't you think it'll be useful to consider anyway...? It's like giving yourself ammunition for the full argument, right?
"Gretel": Anyway, flip your thinking around for a second... the useful fact here is that it's not possible in 2D.
Battler: The hell!? Ugh, that's useless, totally useless... no good at all...!

similarly to how you should never trust gamers with a nonbinary character i feel like you can also never trust a fandom with an aroace character. whether it's explicitly canon or implied it just ends up the same
every time an allo person wants to ship an aroace spec coded character they should write an essay with MLA format citations on how this serves the themes of the story and is necessary for the character and how their ship is any different than the relationships said character already has and they should also send $500 dollars minimum to at least one aroace person in their fandom
"but people can do whatever they want!!!" i don't caaaaaare go examine your biases and cry about it or i'm blowing both of us up
earnestly believing yourself to be uniquely worse than everybody else is still putting yourself above others. your suffering isnt somehow deeper and more deserved than anybody else's and this mindset often leads to disregarding other people's issues
