Happy New Year to all!
2025… the year has flown by! And it’s a year I’m glad is over. It’s been very unsettling in many ways - illness, anxiety, apprehension.
Focussing on positives, first. I’ve actually done a lot of things! Saw Alison Moyet in March, Sugababes in April and Kylie Minogue in May - very unusual to see three of my faves in consecutive months, but so wonderful to see them. Especially Kylie, that night was utterly fantastic, she is a legend and a queen.
I also went to London in September to see ABBA Voyage which was all kinds of amazing, it felt real even though it’s not (obvs). And to visit the BFI to complete research was equally amazing, they’ve been SO helpful to me this year in dealing with my requests - so many passion projects near complete!
And I went to Liverpool in July, that was a gorgeous little trip away and I enjoyed every second. And it was lovely to visit Strawberry Fields, Mam and Dad loved it. Again, making memories.
Work wise… I’ve been unsettled over the past six months. I hope it goes away as I genuinely love working with the team. I’ve felt not needed, valued or trusted. I’m probably overthinking things, but I can’t shake those feelings off. We’ll see, will just have to keep at it and see what happens. There were enjoyable moments though, and I received praise for some of my creations which was nice. Equally, I’ve enjoyed using the work gym! Need to up the ante next year.
But the year has been a bit angst-ridden. Mam and Nana weren’t very well earlier on in the year, which were huge shocks and I really didn’t cope well. Thankfully, and touch wood, they are now fine and doing good. I love them very much. I worry about anything, and I need to stop. It’s not doing me any good.
I was so sad about the death of Patricia Routledge. The day before she died, I was talking about her to an online pal about how I hope she makes it to 100… that’s why I was so shocked. What a legend, I was fortunate to receive some signed photos from her last December - will treasure them.
Nothing has improved with the government, jeez. I do despair. They have actually done good things, it’s just no-one takes any notice, and they don’t shout about it enough. Lord knows what’ll happen next year, but I’ve switched off from all the rhetoric. It’s not good to read about it - wasted energy.
For 2026, I want to be more positive. I want to do things that make me happy like writing, watching films, being more focussed on things I like/enjoy doing. I really, really need to stop being anxious and worried all the time. I’ve got Jane McDonald to look forward to with Mam, that’ll be camp haha, and a lovely surprise trip to Scarborough in April - can’t wait!
I hope and pray everyone in my family stays safe next year - Mam, Dad, Nana, Auntie Lilian, Jan, Pam, Trev and everyone. Hope everyone is ok, and well, safe and good in 2026.
I would like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! xxx
