In the unlikely event of an aircraft evacuation, every second counts. Create a Game Plan before departure so you are ready!
How would you react in an aircraft evacuation? Here is my pre-departure Game Plan for Survival. If you have family and friends that travel by air, please share. This is really important.
Air navigation maps and computers contain thousands of routes and waypoints (or fixes) to help pilots and air traffic controllers keep track of where the airplanes are. To make navigation and communication a little easier, most of the fixes are given names. Read on for some fun fix naming nonsense!
Each day, over 2000 aircraft travel across the Atlantic ocean bound for North America or Europe on the North Atlantic Organized Track System. Have you ever wondered how pilots navigate and communicate during the journey? Communication over the Atlantic is an interesting combination of modern digital messaging, satellite communication, and early 1900’s low-tech!

After landing in Minneapolis, we found a little surprise on the leading edge of our wings. We grew a beautiful coat of light rime ice as we descended towards the airport.
Rime ice forms when water droplets in clouds freeze to the cold surface of the wings. Although a lot of this ice can be dangerous, this wasn’t enough to cause any adverse problems with our flight.
We had the ice removed before departing on our next leg. www.AeroSavvy.com
