BIO
Aesir was the only son and child of Harvor Knutson and Astrid Hansdottir. He was born and raised in the village of Hedeby. Akin to his father he had a vicious yearning to raid and ravage, but though he followed King Ragnarâs rule, he questioned his decision to put an end to their voyages. He craved wealth, reputation, and adventure. So much so that his ambitions began to twist into something fierce, threatening to derail him from the morals and values his family had instilled in him since he was a child.
Aesir was a firm believer in the old Gods and lived his life believing that the fate of the Gods was of the highest power possible. Following a visit from a Norn as a child, his mother strongly believed that the Gods wished for him to follow in the footsteps of his forefathers. He had a relatively quiet life, a life loyal to his King and his new Wife. A life that had been predetermined, but much like a weaver shapes their design, the Gods had other plans for Aesir.
Heâd had married young, pushing aside all other attractions. His union with Helga had been deemed necessary by his family. She was a good wife with a plentiful dowry yet given time their marriage had soured. No amount of money could quench the bitterness between them. Not even the trinkets he brought home from the raids. Her unspoken words and the uncomfortable silence between them upon his return were clear - there was no love shared between the two.
He became more and more engrossed in raids and riches, spending months at a time away, reaching for any given opportunity to travel. Home became ever distant, as did the Gods. Though during a raging storm, as he clutched his knees to his chest, desperate for warmth, he was approached. Between the endless gusts of wind and icy rain heâd watched the raven upon the mast of the ship, watched as it surveyed its surroundings before taking flight once more, content with what it had seen. In that moment he found the measure of his true self, and the path in which he needed to take.
EXTRA
Due to the cold, harsh and unforgiving climate in which he lives, Aesir is usually clad in a thick tunic made from sheepâs skin. His tunic is patterned with the symbol of a Goshawk â a large hawk, with a fierce expression, bright red eyes, and a distinctive white eyebrow. Itâs a small nod to his mother whoâd named him so as a child due to his bravery. During the battle, Aesir dons a thick leather belt equipped with his sword and dagger. He also wears thick, leather body armour for protections and carries a shield painted red and blue.
