The thing is that sex scenes actually are incredible ways to explore character. People are at their most vulnerable during sex! The way they have sex says a lot of very interesting things about their desires, obviously, but also their psychology, their vulnerabilities, their hopes and fears, etc. It is completely insane to me to think that sex scenes have no value other than to sexually excite the audience. Gonna be honest a lot of people deep down view cheating as worse than abuse which is why so many people view downright controlling and manipulative behavior in a relationship as 100% permissible so long as that behavior is centered around either preventing or discovering cheating.
People treat adultery as if it's the worst crime you could commit as a person when it's not even rare to see out in the wild. So many straight marriages are only held together because one or both of the unsatisfied members of the relationship are having an affair to keep themselves happy.
It also is absolutely not at ALL worth hurting someone over it, and it is no excuse to kill someone over.
