bitches be out here like "tess snitched on her ex so she deserved to watch her parents die" like YALL. we did not have a whole discussion about how teenagers being raised with certain beliefs affects their perception of the world just for you to throw all that out the window when talking about a show that directly handles those topics. should tess have snitched? no. did she deserve to see her parents stabbed through the heart? also no. it isn't easy to challenge beliefs when it's all that's been fed to you your whole life. she's been told all these stories about all vamps/monsters being horrible that we as an audience no not to be the truth because we're seeing both sides of this belief system. she isn't. all she knows is what her parents and the guild (fucked up government) have told her: monsters are bad. and a question from cal isn't going to change that. yeah, her views toward monsters (specifically vamps) are going to get worse because oliver, and by extension juliette, have showed her that the stories are true. i just think it's kind of interesting to see how yall are so quick to defend oliver because "well he's just traumatized". which he is, don't get me wrong, he 100% is and that shouldn't be overlooked. but he's been out of that house long enough to know what's up and he made the conscious choice to be a manipulative asshole instead of doing something else. meanwhile tess has never been out of her parents reach. she's in high school, and still completely dependent on her parents (or was until they yk 💀). at the end of the day, these are characters written to play a specific role in a plot but i just wanted to say those words. this show (and book im guessing) is written this way for a reason.
