I’m glad it’s Friday. Better week, overall, but death found its way to my ear twice.

Mark Hollis, from the British band Talk Talk, left us at the top of the week. His writing and musical philosophies had a profound influence on me as an artist and that was really sad.

Then this morning I learned that a friend of mine from the LiveJournal days committed suicide yesterday. I ... well, I’m pretty sure I knew it was coming. A couple fellow musician friends (that she introduced me to) and I tried to talk her out of it once before. She felt betrayed - she had been laying out all her plans to me and me alone and ... I couldn’t keep that secret. She sort of stopped talking to me after that but I guess she knew I’d try to convince her not to go.

Anyway, I guess she got her wish.

Such a gray day, and trying in earnest to not catch the cold going around.

My screen I was working on for my next tee shirt messed up and I don’t know whether to try and salvage it, or say fuck it and draw something new.

Or maybe I should break down and start learning the photo emulsion technique.

The hand painting technique, for me, has been about the ritual aspect of creation. But on the other hand, I like the idea of things looking like I envisioned them, which is much harder when hand painting.
