The Case Against Dictatorship

No practical case for dictatorship exists except for in the delusions of liberal democracy’s critics.

Been working on this for a while. Because of how dominant democratic ideals are, we underestimate how strong the practical case for liberal democracy is. Here I make that point in the negative, by pointing out the weaknesses of its alternatives.

This dude’s trying to start shit in the Battle Hymn of the Republic fandom and I cannot stress how wrong and pointlessly divisive this is. He is talking about the same guy! These are not two different types of guy! The Guy Who Thinks the Period from 1858-1876 Defined America is One Unbreakable Union of Guy.

While there is obviously an other kind of guy here, the key difference is not whether he thinks the pre-1865 part is more or less interesting. It’s about whether he thinks Robert E Lee is interesting. Come on, people!
