THE BEATLES: GET BACK their last live performance on the rooftop of 3 Savile Row January 30th, 1969
John smiling at Paul like this will sustain me for 100 years and I hope it sustains Paul too
John: Yeah. It's like you and me are lovers
Paul: Yeah
And they both touched their hair😂
I've been slowly reading Paul McCartney's Lyrics and came up short at the image he doodled in his notebook after the words for one of the last songs the Beatles recorded:
Four hearts linked by the same arrow.
Things that killed me about Part 2 of The Beatles: Get Back: Watching John, in the wake of George quitting the group, communicating through their own song lyrics (the sequence where a despondent Paul tries to come up with a schedule and some structure and John responds by speaking their own love songs back to him… my God).
That one of my favourite clip from Get Back when 🧍♂️🧍♂️🧍♂️

John turning up at the Get Back Sessions: I have one sentiment I wish to express: Don’t let me down.
Paul, in a completely unrelated series of events: Hey! I have this new song about how I’ll literally die if my love leaves me so I’m promising over and over I’ll never let them down :-) :-)
Paul, few days later, after another series of unrelated thought processes that he does not wish to discuss at this time: Hey! Those two songs we wrote seem like they make a story!
John, an arsehole: Yeah, it’s like me and you are lovers.
Paul: Haha, John you joker. Also, have I mentioned how normal I’m feeling about you and Yoko today?
Ringo, a few days after that: I wish I was literally under the sea where no one can find me.
“He also brings in his girlfriend, rock photographer Linda Eastman. He introduces her to a camera man, then adds, “Linda’s a camera man.” Then he sits at the piano to run through some stunning new tunes: “Golden Slumbers,” “Another Day,” “The Long and Winding Road.” The songs aren’t finished, but he’s just showing off for Linda. He’s determined to dazzle this woman.
(This detail cannot be over-stressed: Paul has already decided Linda is the love of his life. He is correct. They’re inseparable for the next 38 years, until her dying day. At this point, he’s still a young rock star, not to mention the most adored bachelor on earth, but that doesn’t faze him. He has total emotional confidence in this life decision. He is 26 years old. Let’s face it: as a culture, we haven’t even begun to fathom the mysteries of Paul McCartney. The gods made only one of him.)”
