In my heart— hope springs eternal
Unfinished character backstory-
Created this D&D character years ago, forgot about it, was scrolling through my notes a while ago and found this again, reread it, laughed hard at how abruptly it changes in the middle lolll ( I ran out of eloquent words loll), was kinda feeling the rest of it (and in awe that I had written something I thought was good), then again forgot about it, came across this again, and decided that I wanted to put it out somewhere other than my notes app…
So here ya go, Al, ya gonna do it and it’s all gonna be fine.
Thia Iscalon
Thia Iscalon—Back Story
Alignment—Chaotic good
Race/Class— Half elf/Rogue Assassin (bounty hunter/hitwoman)
Background—Sage researcher
Age—75
Size—5’6
Languages—Common, Elvish, Dwarvish, Sylvan, Theives’ cant
Thia was born to a human female and an elf male. As a child, Thia did not know much of her father, as her mother hardly ever wanted to discuss him (and she, herself, didn’t care much to pester her mother for more information), but from what she was able to piece together, he was a High sun elf from a noble family, arrogant and haughty. Her mother was a strong, kind, loving, and intelligent woman who Thia always aspired to be like, but she felt she had a more chaotic and perhaps darker nature than that of her mother. Nonethelss, her mother cultivated in her a deep appreciation for life and the world around them which, along with Thia’s natural curiosity and passion for knowledge and freedom, led Thia to choose the path of a sage researcher. Growing up, Thia never felt like she truly belonged or was accepted by those around her. She mostly kept to herself, preferring to wander and think in nature, hiking in and around the hilly and mountainous environs of her village. Though she cared deeply about others and could easily converse and charm when she needed to or felt like it, her mother was the only person she had a true and deep connection with. At age 20, Thia could not contain her need for something more and left the village where she grew up to study and travel. While she was away, she came across people and creatures from all races, classes, and backgrounds. One such creature was a female rogue drow named Valanthe, who worshipped Eilistraee, goddess of freedom. Thia was able to help her out of a sticky situation and in return she told Thia that she owed her a favor.
After 5 years, Thia finally returned to her village, but something terrible happened soon after her arrival….long story short village was the battleground for sun elves and drows. Her father had been a spy because there was an entrance to the underdark near Thia’s village and they had wanted to kill them or some shit because they hated drows and saw them as their worst enemies. Thia saw that her father was a brutal bitch who literally let her mother die in front of them because it was too much of an inconvenience for him to save her. This left Thia with nothing, and from there left to find and ask Valanthe to return the favor she was owed. Reluctantly Valanthe agreed to help Thia become a rogue assassin. At first Thia was full of anger and hatred and basically wanted to be an assassin to kill everyone she thought was bad/didn’t deserve to live, especially her father…but after a while she was inspired by Eilistraee and decided that she would challenge herself to embrace her own freedom to live and live happily/freely instead of with hatred. She still liked the life of a rogue assassin, but took jobs only when she needed to or when it interested her and only if this person/creature was a true threat to others’ freedom. Thia believed that “nothing should fetter the infinite possibility inherent in all life.” So she lived her life mostly alone continuing to value knowledge and her research, and also killing or bringing in some assholes every now and then.
Personal Emergencies
Breath rising to my chest
Unmoving—held—until all my blood
Feels like it’s floated up to my head.
Mind moving a million miles a minute—
A landmine waiting for the slightest tippy tap to explode
Allegiance
I am suddenly reminded that I have been here before-
And my spirit refuses to cower endlessly in the dark
It screams at me…it asks of me
Stand again. ?
Dig deeply and set yourself free-
Do not imprison yourself forever.
You owe this pain no allegiance.

The Life of a Showgirl has grown on me like no other. I really did not appreciate it at first, but the more I listen to it the more I’m just delighted by it. And I see (at least I think so but maybe not, and also who cares cause it’s just good and bomb ass music) that there’s actually a lot of layers there too. There’s been this whole idea of the parallax throughout the showgirl era and the album itself strikes me as that too. I just feel like the whole thing is this tongue in cheek thing Taylor is doing. Where it’s like yeah look at my life and this wonderful love I’ve found and I’m so happy but yall have no idea the shit that I’ve been through to get here. The work that goes into creating this life, this image, this show. It’s like this is the painting, enjoy it, look at it, partake in it, but know there’s so much depth and detail there that you may not see/recognize, which I think describes her life/career in show business. So yeah, my rambling reflections on TLOAS after seeing and thinking about the eras tour documentary and rewatching the actual tour, and a lot of other things. @taylorswift as usual, my thanks and love to you 💕
Play Time!
It is a fine thing—
to laugh
to dance
to play
to sing.
Be and Do wholeheartedly,
without fear.
My dear,
inevitably you may trip,
but do not shun the possibility of a fall.
Embrace it!
Own it!
Laugh with it!
Honor it!
Others will follow suit.
Because
when you trust in yourself,
when you trust in others,
when you celebrate yourself,
when you celebrate others,
that is success no matter what you do!
It is your willingness to make mistakes,
your bravery in simply stepping forward,
unprepared,
that will bring you the coveted delights of life.
Oh the glorious mess of playtime!
Revel in it with those that will revel in it with you.
It is a fine thing—
to laugh
to dance
to play
to sing.
I fucking LOVE Taylor Swift. I just…every time I see her, watch something from her, I just get all these powerful feelings of admiration, joy, awe, and inspiration. I have no doubt in my mind that she is a person of integrity and kindness and compassion. Her work ethic is out of this world and the people who work with her respect the hell out of her. There is so much to be said for someone who is a genuinely good boss, creative partner, all of it. The sense of collaboration I got from watching The End of an Era was real and wonderful to see. I just think that Taylor is amazing on a lot of levels. She’s not a deity, she’s not a super hero, she is a real person, navigating real feelings, real problems in this world with a wholeheartedness and with a grace that is genuine and admirable. She can get such a hard time from people on such a massive scale for everything she does (I have regrettably sometimes been a part of that) but I think she is doing the best she can with what’s been given to her and what’s she worked hard to earn. She’s an artist and business woman of integrity. I just, there’s so much good that I want to express about her and I just don’t have the words.
I love you so much @taylorswift. Truly thank you. You, your music, your team, your collaborators, just inspire the hell out of me. You’re the best 🩷🩷🩷

I used to be this.
I used to be that.
…the nostalgia’s getting old…
Who am I now? What am I now?
That’s the comfort I long for—
I feel like The Life of a Showgirl 💚🧡🩵💚🧡🩵 is going to be dark as hell too tho. The fractured/shattered motif that we see on the album covers, the stunning but also slightly unnerving photos we’ve gotten (something with the lighting), some of those song titles…Like it’ll be fun and bright and pop and everything she said it’ll be for sure, but I feel like there’s something tragic/angry underneath that surface too. Definitely going to be a HELL of a complex, layered album. The lyrical play and poetry (cause yes of course) is going to be out of this world I’m sure! She always smashes it! Waiting with bated breath @taylorswift
