At hearing her words, Scott acted out a small jump of surprise. But it’s a real fact that he was truly surprised as his expectations of this woman smoking was 0%. He had to admit that a woman that looked so sad and solemn while it was raining was not someone he expected to smoke.
"Um," he began, shaking his shoulders repeatedly. "Yeah, sure." he answered, upon hearing her repeat the words she had spoken seconds ago. "Just calm down. I’ve got a whole box of ‘em here." he cooed, fishing the box from his pockets as he pulled out one.
"Here." he said, reaching it out to her before fishing his pockets again, this time for a lighter. "I’ve got a lighter here somewhere. Wait a sec—" he muttered to her.
She simply gave a roll of her eyes to say how much he failed at amusing (if that was his intention) her with his little jump. You fucking surprised I smoke? she thought, casting him a glare.
Then another set of boring seconds as he searched his many pockets for a single box of cigarettes: is it that hard to find such a simple object in your coat? Not that Jackie was mad at him but she was just really pissed off this afternoon, with the rain and all. And waiting seconds longer was not helping at all. Not one bit.
Snatching the cancer stick from his fingers, without a word, she stuck between her lips the cigarette before flicking a small flame to life on a finger as she neared it towards the stick, lighting it. "No need for lighters." she replied, inhaling before pulling it out.
