These are from an 8-page comic that is the very first thing in the Panty & Stocking “Daten City Paparazzi” art book. From what I can tell, it’s an early piece by Hiroyuki Imaishi that was either done during the show’s pre-production or possibly before that as its own standalone thing and the first appearance of the characters (it’s dated April 3, 2008). But I don’t know anything for sure because it’s all in Japanese (handwritten, no less). So has anyone ever done an English translation of this? Because I can’t even find the comic as is. It would be really interesting to read, and it also seems to be the origin of Chuck (they fight a large, muscular monster with a face that resembles him, including the zippers, and at the end, the lone head is shown tied to a stake scrambling to run away like a dog after being blown off). Anybody have any information?
