EVENT - Missing Mutants in White Plains?

Tensions are running high in Westchester, New York this month. The NYPD has already reported two mutant deaths in the White Plains area, with rumors regarding the abduction of several others. With little evidence to convict however, it’s anyone’s guess what the source of such a dilemma might be.

Things haven’t been the same since Apocalypse left his mark on the earth and many humans are back to hating the mutant community again. Could the Sentinal Program be back in commission? Or could it be the first in a new tactic to wipe out mutants?

Students, Staff, and Residents of Xavier’s can rest easy. Here is a safe place, where no harm will befall you. Regardless, Professor Xavier has ruled a temporary ban on all out-of-campus activities and established a 10 p.m. curfew for all students. Anyone caught outside of their dorm at such time will be dealt with accordingly. Counseling regarding the tragedy will be offered to any and all students.

Players, we welcome you with our first event of the group! Starting today and ending on August 3rd, 12:00 p.m. EST, the event will be in effect, During this time, we encourage you all to participate with the tag: (aarpgevent). Any questions can be directed toward Admin Raven or Admin Deanna.

MUTATIONS:

Fear Manipulation: Jameson can manifest, manipulate, see, and sense the fears of others around him, as well as himself. As a branch of telepathy, he can peer into other’s minds and see the extent of one’s fears. He can channel one’s fears and send others into a near catatonic state of emotional distress by his manifestation of what they dread. He can even cause someone to fear the most harmless of things, or even decrease the level at which one fears something. At the furthest extent of his capabilities, he could induce a heart attack upon channeling his powers.

Illusion Manipulation: He can create, shape, or manipulate illusions that causes his targets to see, hear, touch, smell, and/or taste things that do not exist. He can cause them to perceive things that are not real and/or differently than how they actually are. Jameson mostly uses this sort of manipulation when creating the illusion of one’s fears. He can cast illusions in the form of dreams, nightmares, and hallucinations.

Fear/Phobia Exploitation: Jameson gains abilities pertinent to his target’s fears in order to use them to his advantage, even forming himself into the manifestation of which they fear the most.

WEAKNESSES:

Most telepaths are able to shield themselves from Jameson’s abilitie, the greatest limitation are those without fear or have fearless capabilities

His powers are also limited to his physical and mental wellbeing.

SHORT BIO:

Jameson had always been a smart kid growing up. His parents were not very present in his life, both of them following very successful careers as doctors and it shaped Jameson’s interests to pursue a medical fellowship himself. He grew up running the halls of the hospital with surgical masks and gloves on, pretending to scrub into surgeries every time he went to the restroom. The doctors and nurses all had high hopes for “Devereaux Jr.” in the future. It wasn’t until he was eleven when he started seeing horrible things. He’d have visions of awful deaths, insects crawling on his skin, or even menial fears driven out of proportion by one singular person’s thoughts. It drove him to the point of not wanting to sleep or eat, making his parents take notice and put him through psychotherapy.

Growing up, he learned eventually that nothing was wrong with him and that he was actually seeing someone else’s genuine fears. He learned to control it as well as the extent of his capabilities—finding that he wasn’t as strong or capable when he’s been lacking in sleep or sick. He rarely used his abilities for malevolence and decided to continue his pursuit to be a doctor, especially following an accident causing their deaths when he was graduating medical school. It caused a great period of depression and hostility, making him out to be ruthless and rude to his colleagues, but he shrugged it off since he knew, as well as others, that he was a good doctor.

In an era where mutants were becoming more and more frequent, he found himself  all the more interested in them. When he managed to get his medical license, he made sure to be open to any and all mutant families that came to him. For a good while, he followed a successful life until his powers exposed him and caused him to have to shut him down and lose his job. Angry at these protesters, he unleashed a full barrage of his abilities upon them, causing mass hysteria and even a few heart attacks. Those who responded to the “attack” called it a strange incident of massive hallucinations. It was quickly shrugged off as a bunch of people who must have taken high doses of hallucinogens en masse.

Jameson was ready to run away elsewhere in order to start anew when he was greeted by the professor and invited to his school. Granted there wasn’t so much more he could be taught, but he was granted a job and a place to be safe from protestors who knew him well enough by his name to shut him down. It wasn’t the career following his parents, but he didn’t mind being the school doctor for mutants while also analyzing the further extent of his capabilities.

SHORT BIO: 

Virginia Paige grew up under the sole-guardianship of her entrepreneurial mother, who got her business start with hush money solicited from an affair with another woman’s wealthy husband. Though the means for money were not as humble as possible, it provided Virginia with a comfortable lifestyle, if not a lonely one. Her mother was often so preoccupied that she had little time for a close relationship with her daughter. This eventually lead to the two becoming estranged from one another, with Virginia growing even to hate and harbor a grudge against her. And while she had brought up, on more than one occasion, the option to live with her aunt or another relative, her mother wanted nothing to do with the idea. She was intent on keeping up a good public relations image and felt her daughter running away would do just the opposite.

Virginia rebelled in other various ways: drinking, stealing, picking fights at school, ect. With no loving influence at home, she become somewhat of a selfish person in nature and rarely did things for the benefit of anyone else. It wasn’t until she turned seventeen that her mutation kicked in, changing this perspective. She suddenly felt the emotions of everyone around her, like an emotional sponge. It was uncontrollable at first. She spent moments crying over someone she never knew, laughing at jokes she’d never heard. Her mother had her diagnosed for manic depression, and the doctor issued Virginia the medicine for it, but they noticed little improvement over the situation.

Virginia carried on like this for months before she noticed a branch in the mutation. Not only could she feel the emotional pain of another, but she could feel the physical as well. She found that she could absorb the pain of someone else. This did little to quell her worries and she sought out her available options for the problems she had. It was then that her search fell on Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. Her mother was still adamant about her staying at home, so she did until she turned eighteen. A week after her birthday, she’d enrolled herself in the school and ran away from home with all of her belongings.

She joined the school with only the intent of gaining control over her powers, as she was more inclined to do what benefited her and wanted nothing to do with others or their feelings. Though soon after, when she found out how extensive the training of her powers would be before she gained any semblance of control, she decided to do something with them. If she couldn’t stop feeling the pain of others from trickling into her, then she would stop the pain at its source. She would protect the people that needed it and keep them as happy as she wanted herself to be. With this in mind, she focuses her time on honing her abilities now and training in other forms of combat, with the intent to protect the less capable

SHORT BIO:

Danielle Moonstar was born in Boulder, Colorado, a member of the Cheyenne Nation. The first time Dani’s powers manifested, she dreamed of her parents dying at the hands of an evil spirit. Taking the form of a demonic bear, it stood over the bodies of a horse and eagle — the symbols of her mother and father’s respective clans. She warned them of her vision, but they didn’t listen. Dani’s parents took a trip into the mountains and disappeared, presumed to be dead.

Prior to her parents’ disappearance, Dani was sent to live with her neighbors, but she did not have control over her abilities. She found that she could create illusions based on one’s deepest fears or desires. It would happen in public, causing embarrassing occurrences within her tribe. Soon enough, she was resented by her peers. 

To escape the malice of her community, she went to live with her Grandfather, Black Eagle, in his mountain home. There, she began to have more dreams about the demonic creature. He called out to her, saying that he would claim her soul as he did her parents. Set on revenge, she and her grandfather set out to the place where her parents disappeared and battled the creature. 

When her grandfather died against the demon bear, she lashed out with her powers, learning that she could create arrows out of psychic energy. When she shot the spirit with them, he was forced to experience his own fears as if they were reality. She managed to defeat him and freed her family’s souls. 

When she returned home, Dani found a note left by her grandfather, as if he knew his fate. It told her to contact a man he knew from his past called Charles Xavier. She has been a student at his school ever since.

MUTATIONS:

DARKNESS MANIPULATION: The ability to create, generate, increase, absorb, shape, and manipulate darkness/shadows for various effects including: darkness solidifying (the making of weapons, walls, allies, armor, tentacles, chains, etc), granting him night vision (even in pitch black circumstances), darkness adaptation, shadow marionette, dark mist/absolute darkness, shadow cloaking. ‘Shadows’ are living to him, and he can often communicate with them to find out some vital information (Shadows are usually loyal to those the follow)

FLIGHT/LEVITATION: User can fly using the shadows to carry him

UMBRAGEOUS TELEPORTATION: By touching the shadows, the user can merge into the darkness and use it for travel. 

WEAKNESSES:

DARKNESS MANIPULATION: He is unable to create darkness, he must be in sync with the source in order to manipulate it, his mind is easily corruptible by darkness and he often suffers from migraines, it drains his strength so he can only manipulate (or go the distance) if he is up to it physically, very bright lights and light manipulation can counter him

FLIGHT/LEVITATION: He is only able to fly during night, when darkness is at it’s peak. He can levitate during the day, but it’s very draining to do so. This is possible by commanding the shadows to carry him through the air

UMBRAGEOUS TELEPORTATION: He can only teleport through shadows if he is touching the darkness or in very close contact with it, and the distance is depending on how far the shadow stretches. If he’s outside, for example, he can travel great distances shadow jumping. But, in a small building, he can only go to dark corners because of the bright lights most buildings have blocking his way

SHORT BIO:

Niklaus, born on October 8th alongside his twin, Lorelei. He had a boring, normal life up until he was eight years old. That’s when his powers manifested. It started by him talking to himself in his room and progressed until he had a shadow moving out of place and knocking things off a counter when he was upset. He, along with his sister who was having her own trouble, were both disowned by their anti-Mutant parents and rather than being given up for adoption, was sold off for research.

He and his sister stayed in the facility for years. Undergoing test after test, and abuse from the guards. However, never once did he allow himself to lose his faith on escaping with his sister and seeking some normal life. That time came sooner than later, but far too late to capture the childhood he lost. During a strange attack that took out the entire camp and a good portion of it’s population, Niklaus was able to escape with his sister.

They had nowhere to go, but it didn’t stop them from going. He and his sister traveled, usually sleeping outside and surviving on what land they were passing, until they got caught up in some trouble near New York. They were picked up by the authorities and before they had chance to escape by busting a few heads, a mutant officer offered them a sanctuary.

MUTATIONS:

BLOOD MANIPULATION: She may create, control, and otherwise manipulate blood of oneself, others, or from her surroundings (such as blood banks, or battlefields). Such abilities include: Blood marionette, pain inducement, and shape/control(use of blood by mildly solidifying it into weapons such as: a whip, knives, etc.).

FEAR INDUCEMENT: She has the ability to cause people to feel and or see a fear, causing them to be put under a great deal of stress and anxiety.

WEAKNESSES:

BLOOD MANIPULATION: She is UNABLE to create blood, only able to use what is available to her. If she uses her own blood too long or in vast quantities she becomes anemic and weak.

FEAR INDUCEMENT: She is limited to only being able to induce fear in the form of vision projections which if kept up for too long can cause her to experience migraines.

She is weak to Light Manipulation, and the like.

SHORT BIO:

Lorelei Sauer was born to two anti-mutant humans. Not only that, but she was born the younger of a set of twins. Her brother Niklaus was her best friend, and her other half. At a very young age she developed her power, discovered when she had accidentally cut her finger, causing little drops of blood to fall. She cried and the blood slowly stopped falling, instead stiffening to clot itself as she whined for her parents. Not much was thought of the incident, but the next time was worse. She’d tripped, falling and scraping her hands and knees, once again the blood miraculously clotted and stopped itself. Her parents had take. Her to the hospital, in hopes of finding nothing wrong, but instead learning that their child carried the X gene.

Soon she and her brother, who had also adapted his own mutation, were whisked away for research. She remembers the needles, the blood being taken from her body, the tests, and the separation. At night she would do everything she could, projecting frightening images into the minds of the guards to sneak her way into the room where they kept Niklaus. When the guards had discovered that they couldn’t separate the twins they stopped trying and allowed them to share a room.

The camp went under attack some time later resulting in the death of most of the mutants and a great deal of the authoritative figures. Next came escape, for the twins it was the opportunity they had waited their whole lives for. Their feet only carried them so far, and they sought to seek refuge from other anti-mutant people. That was when they were found by the authorities, one of which was a mutant himself. The twins were taken to Xavier, who opened his arms and his home to the two teens.

can only modify their own identity, can only control one double and must remain in one place to control it effectively, the double is also rather weak

their constant identity changes and lack of remembering who they originally are can cause them to breakdown at times

when under stress, it becomes hard to maintain one form so their appearance will change drastically and rapidly

SHORT BIO:  Due to their enjoyment of not being committed to being one person and can be whoever they want to be, they roamed around most of their life, always changing their appearance and identity entirely. Be it daily or weekly, maybe from month to month if their really feeling it, but they never stay in the same from for very long, though they will switch back and forth.

But, in turn, they can’t really remember who they used to be, they buried it so far down between so many recreations they only really remember their age. They are a person of no true race, ethnicity, gender, look, ect. This haunts them often, though they bury that just as deeply

They were brought to the institute after getting themselves in trouble with the law, getting caught as one of many (despite being the only one actually involved) in an undiscovered string of petty theives. Where once given the alias Mirage, they decided on a recognizable appearance for themselves, going by Mira Haber. Though they do still change things up just as often, at least now they have something to go back to.

Makayla was born a mutant of the cheyarafim blood and from an early age was aware of this but her mother taught her to hide it. After the events of Days of Future Past, she met Angel who shared her abilities and used them to help people who taught her to fly. Angel was taken away and never heard from again when she was a young teenager. After the awakening of Apocalypse, she saw him on the news, but knew that was not the same Angel she’d known for years. After her mom passes, rather than going into the foster system, she decides to go to the X-Men to find out what became of her friend.

Perspective manipulation (blurring the line between fantasy and reality/conjuring impossible things)

Healing (although she would be currently unpracticed/the act is incredibly draining)

General magic-enhanced combat (although she is still not well-versed in combat)

WEAKNESSES:

She’s young and unpracticed; doesn’t know the full extent of what she can do

Her mutation makes her very receptive to the “energy” around her, often has terrible night terrors, feels things too deeply, etc.

A daydreamer, which can make her absentminded and out of touch with reality

Has an unbridled need for affection; she wants to be liked by others (as much as she hates to admit it)

SHORT BIO:

Zelda Marianna Blaine was born in Barcelona, Spain to a French-American father (Thierry Blaine) and Spanish mother (Ana Almodóvar). Her mother possessed a similar mutation and was transparent about her ability. Ana was demonized and subsequently disowned by her orthodox family for this, as they deemed her mutation as ungodly and Satanic. They disparagingly referred to Ana and Zelda as “brujas,“ the spanish word for witch.

Zelda was an intuitive and artistic child; she liked science and took ballet lessons. Due to her mother’s similar ability, Zelda expressed her mutation freely.

Ana fell ill and died of breast cancer in the spring of 1973, when Zelda was six. Blaine’s father relocated them to the United States (New Orleans, Louisiana) a year later, an experience that would erode her idealism.

Destroyed by his wife’s death, Thierry took to drinking and gambling. Zelda was virtually ignored by her father and bullied at school. However, she managed to keep up with her dance lessons, finding solace in the escape and control ballet offered. It is during this period that Zelda discovered the aversion that many had to mutated people. Particularly in an instance when a few of her peers attempted to “burn her at the stake” for being a “witch.”

By 1980, Thierry had racked up a hefty debt from his irresponsible gambling and was murdered for not paying it. Zelda (now age 13) was shuffled into the foster care system, but never found a permanent residence. She was often sad, but fooled everyone with a kind-heart and a laissez-faire attitude. She continued dancing and learned to use her mutation in secret.

After an incident in which Zelda woke from a nightmare having made it a reality, a well-intentioned friend advised she come into the care of Charles Xavier. She currently resides at Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngsters, honing her abilities.
