Our background.

We are 4 senior students from South Central Los Angeles. Our names are Sarai, Stephanie, Elmer and Kenny. Living in South Central Los Angeles our whole lives we've grown to know that it is a food desert out here. There's a liquor store on every corner and a fast food restaurant on every block. But you know what we don't see here often? Anything that is green or remotely healthy. What inspired us to start this blog? Well, many things really. 1st, our english teacher Mr.Gonzalez. He's been showing us many articles, ted talks, and documentaries about the importance of gardening and how in today's world, we need it more than ever. 2nd, our school John C. Fremont High School. Our school recently built a garden for students to go plant fruits, vegetables, and plants. That garden has taught us how it's easy to stay healthy and we can grow our own food in our backyard. And it's always better to know where your food comes from because now in days, the food that is supposed to be healthy at the super market isn't. 3rd, our desire to make a change. We came to the realization that we don't want to sit back and do nothing about the fact that we live in a food desert, we want to make a change for future generations to come, for a healthier and happier life style. And what better way to do that than with gardening! Like Ron Finley once said, "Let's go plant some shit!"
