alpha dave would give you the princess treatment, he would treat you like royalty, he would literally open doors for you and just pick you up if you tell him your feet are feeling sore
hed like put easter eggs of you in his movies and when everyones like at a screenshot of you and is like "WHO IS THIS?!" and hes all smug and is like "thats the LOVE OF MY LIFE"
what about like dave x reader?? like dave says a lot of things in an ironic way, especially flirting and the reader takes that as rejection and yk kind of keeps their distance because they don't want dave to think they're overstepping boundaries. but in turn, this overrides dave's facade and they have a fluffy heart to heart.
if you're okay with fluff, if not you can make it as angsty as you want!
Dave is so fun to write for seriously. Back during Homestuck prime I used to rp as this nerd ALL THE TIME. Hopefully my writing skill from then stays the same. I tried experimenting and doing it in the Homestuck style too. I’m not sure if I like it, so I’d like to hear what others think. Enjoy!

“ LOST IN TRANSLATION ”
The thing about Dave was that he never said anything straight.
Everything had to be wrapped up in some sarcastic quip, an ironic flourish, or a throwaway line that sounded like it belonged in a bad mixtape interlude. Somehow you’d gotten used to it, but you were never 100% sure. Let it be your trust issues to make you doubt everything, but there was always something in the back of your mind telling you that he didn’t like you the way you did.
Thus when he called you “babe” after you accidentally tripped into him that one time on the meteor like some lovestruck anime girl, you laughed it off. When he said you were “way too hot to be seen with a tool like me,” you brushed it aside. Every flirtation sounded like a joke, and it stung, because you couldn’t bring yourself to believe he was being serious. He couldn’t be serious. You didn’t want to be the idiot to believe it either, so you pulled away.
It was subtle at first, like not lingering when you were hanging out, not texting him for long periods of time, or not laughing quite as hard at his endless ironic monologues. You figured if Dave wasn’t interested in you like that, he wouldn’t notice.
And oh boy did Dave notice.
At first he thought maybe he’d pushed too far with the jokes, or maybe you just weren’t into them anymore. Eventually though, the space between you got wider. He hated it way more than he was willing to admit too. For once, he couldn’t smother it under a layer of irony either.

It all came to a head one late night in his room on the meteor. You were sitting on the edge of his bed, scrolling through your phone in silence. Dave was at his computer, typing nothing in particular, pretending not to notice how quiet you were being.
DAVE: yo.
YN: Yo.
DAVE: so like, we’re really great friends and all that.
DAVE: but lowkey? i’ve been having this weird feeling between us.
DAVE: i’m not trying to diss our friendship, in fact i think it’s great.
DAVE: i mean, our hangouts? straight fire. the good kind.
DAVE: just not in this situation
You looked up, startled as he began talking about your friendship as if this was a terrible breakup ready to happen.
YN: The distancing thing? Because if that’s what you’re talking about, I just figured I didn’t want to overstep with you.
DAVE: overstep?
DAVE: last time I checked you never overstepped with me.
YN: No, no.. like when you flirt jokingly because it’s ironic or something-
He blinked, taken off guard while you fiddled with your phone awkwardly. There was a long silence after that too. His shades slid down his nose a little, and you saw his eyes directly, wide with something that looked suspiciously like panic. Eventually though he gathered his surprised look, quickly pushing his shades back up and forcing an awkward smile.
DAVE: jesus christ
DAVE: you thought i was joking?
YN: …you weren’t?
Dave swiveled back and forth in his chair, running a hand through his hair. His ironic mask was gone, burned away in the heat of the moment. Damn. He actually just admitted he wasn’t joking. Looks like he had to go all in now! Both of your hearts were beating a mile a minute like you were each other’s first crush.
DAVE: okay look
DAVE: yeah, i do the whole ironic thing
DAVE: i get it
DAVE: sue me
DAVE: but i wasn’t joking about that
DAVE: I don’t joke when it comes to you
YN: …You mean…?
DAVE: i mean i like you dumbass
His voice sharper than he meant it to be, though his face was pink. He cuts himself on and off, groaning, secretly wishing he could erase everything he just said and say it in a more cool tone. One that wouldn’t make you consider saying no, since he seemed to be so caught up in his own head in real time.
DAVE: i’ve been flirting with you this whole time because that’s the only way i know how to not sound like a total idiot when i say it
DAVE: god
DAVE: i’m bad at this
DAVE: but yeah
DAVE: you
DAVE: i’m serious
The silence stretched again, but this time it wasn’t heavy. You felt the knot in your chest unravel, slowly, piece by piece. Eventually you were even smiling.
YN: …You’re an idiot
DAVE: yeah well i guess we’re both idiots if we couldn’t understand each other
DAVE: i’d like to talk even more than usual too
DAVE: that is if you’re even cool with knowing i utterly dumped out all my feelings onto the floor right now with no warning
DAVE: like seriously
DAVE: after that i don’t even expect you to feel the same
Tentatively to shut him up, you took the hand he was using to hold his face. He stiffened for half a second, only letting go as he realized you weren’t faking sympathy or anything that he figured you’d do with his luck. His hand brushed back to yours—awkward—and then stayed there.
You on the other hand were probably more red than he was. Here your dumb ass was think he could never like you, and that he was just joking. But to now hear it from his own mouth? That’s all the reassurance you needed.
freak4freak is always so awesome but another character dynamic that i think is really great is freak vs freak. you're the only person who understands me and i'm the only person who understands you. unfortunately this also does not stop either of us from hating each other and in fact it might even make everything significantly worse for everyone involved
Ok I had some weird lucid dreams last night but here's a really cute idea I had
For whatever reason, you give a pippins a kiss on the cheek. And then all of a sudden there's *another* one right behind them! So you also kiss them on the cheek.
There is now a line of pippins wanting a kiss on the cheek or forehead.
Eventually a green one comes into view, held forcibly by two red ones. He's writhing and saying "No, I don't want a freaking kiss! No! No!!!"
But as soon as he's in front he gets quiet and stops struggling. You giggle and give him a long, gentle press on the forehead.
He stumbles to the back of the line for another (as other pippins are doing).
Now there's a shadowguy! He chirps musically at you before taking off his hat, pointing to his forehead. You, of course, oblige.
And that leads to a zapper, accent thick and stumbling over asking for a kiss too. They get a kiss-- two! And they thank you, perking up and somehow blushing.
"HEY! IT'S MOTORMOUTH MIKE! WHAT'S THIS ABOUT GIVIN' AWAY KISSES?! AHAHAAHA!" Yes, he gets one.
So does Jongler's Mike persona, who does a long cowboy-esque whistle afterwards.
...Holy shit is that a CAT?! While you're distracted he curls up on your lap (by this point you are sitting because the line is literally never going to end).
You're so caught up in the euphoria of having a giant cat snuggle you that you miss a literal giant cut the line. "Excuse me?"
You feel his shadow lay over you, long and thick, and look up to see Tenna's big, wobbly smile. His hands are behind his back. "I uh, hear you're giving away kisses!"
You nod. "Would you like one?"
"WOULD I?!"
He immediately stoops down, turning his face away for a kiss on the cheek. You, however, take his case in both your hands and turn him forward.
"W-whatcha doing, starlight-?"
Your lips manage to find his, and as soon as you let go, he shoots up like a rocket. "WOW WOW *WOW!!!"*
You giggle, but you should know better than to think this is the end of his reaction. He abruptly turns to the line behind him, waving his arms. "SORRY FOLKS! RIDE'S SHUTTING DOWN FOR MAINTENANCE!"
"Tenna, what are you-- oh!"
Pluey falls off your lap as Tenna picks you up and runs off, taking you all for himself.
