My read is that Mark ended up pretty staunchly anti-military, and just kinda never did the work of disentangling his views on "dad abandoned us growing up", "us military has some serious ethical issues", "I miss my mommy" and "his sister".

As it turned out, after a century and more of life there were virtually no places left on God’s green Earth where Nikola could go and not in some way be reminded of Helen. Everywhere he went, he was haunted by another inside joke, another shared danger, another crumbling relic of their bygone days of glory. 'Only the chosen left alive', he recited bitterly. 'Immortals all…' except I knew better. I should’ve known better. What a damn fool I was. Most of his old haunts in New York no longer existed. His Wardenclyffe laboratory had only recently been purchased by a nonprofit— thanks to a substantial anonymous donation— with the intent of turning it into a museum. When he'd shared the news with Helen, she had met his jubilation with carefully suppressed joy, and refused to admit to being the anonymous donor no matter how many times he tried to call her on it. She wouldn't admit to Miraflores, either. In retrospect, it was blindingly obvious that the Helen who had turned up in New York in the autumn of 1901— had she worn that crimson overcoat on purpose?— to take him on what turned out to be an adventure he would never forget had not been the Helen he had known at the time. The signs had been clear as day— and not just in the daylight.

I wasn't even on camera at the time, but I couldn't stop. Peter Deluise looked at me and asked, 'Are you all right?' and I sobbed, 'But it's Carmen." Tapping says she eventually pulled it all together, and went to the observation room to shoot a scene with Richard Dean Anderson: "We're sitting getting ready for this little scene between Carter and O'neill, which is quite wonderful, and some interesting things are brought to bear. Rick turned to me and said, 'You're not crying, are you?' and I went, 'Yes, I am.' And he replied, 'I hate it when you cry. I hate it.' And it was just the perfect prelude to that little scene between us.

My favorite part of S07E15 'Chimera' is how Sam and Teal'c initially react to Daniel's dreams/nightmares, namely the assumption that there isn't anything odd about them, actually, because Daniel's life thus far has been pretty fucked up and it's both natural and past time he had a little REM sleep fall-apart about it, as a treat
