they accused me of being gay and I said yes I am and here's why that affects the way I engage with platonic relationships and how I am in fact not gay in an exclusively romantic manner

indeed. who you are affects the way you perceive the world around you, framing it in a way that is particular to you, combining a billion different factors into an unique pattern.

one of those factors is that you're queer, it's evident that your queerness Would be fundementally permeated in every aspect of your life, not only the romantic side of things as it is a vital aspect that helps defining your individuality and personhood.

EXACTLY. queerness as a whole affects the way you see the world and the way the world sees you. being queer (as in "different") makes the whole experience of being alive such a lonely path when you are not in community, and even then it is very possible that you don't feel welcome in it.

so once you meet someone that makes you feel understood you create such a deep bond with them to the point you find yourself defying the amatonormativity that everyone ever convinced you was The Right Thing To Do. you find yourself willing and even wanting to do things that people see as reserved for couples only, just because you care.

and that's when you realize that things such as going out for a sweet treat, laying on grass together, napping, accompanying each other to doctors appointments, cooking and baking and more are not inherently romantic actions, but things that shows that you care and enjoy each other's presence in their lives. it was never the action itself but the intention behind it.
